Tomorrow, April 2nd at 1900 German Time (afternoon in most North Am except Pacific), Lands and Lords http://www.landsandlords.de/ is starting another round.
I have been playing this game for a couple of years and enjoy it very much.  It is played on your browser and this upcoming round will have 2 hour turns for 1500
turns, thus the round will last for 3000 continuous hours.  It is a real wargame with hexes, armies etc.  You start with a small kingdom and expand 4X style into
the surrounding territory in order to build an economy to sustain an army and navy which you will need to first expand and inevitably fight the other human players when
you encounter them.  It is simple in concept but rather subtle and exciting in practice.  People must be fed, weapons built, technology advanced (all at a medieval level)
and finally wars fought.  There is in game chat with a translator since most players are Europeans although most also will communicate in English since most Europeans
are multilingual.  A very interesting and vibrant community usually with 30 -50 players in a game.  The game requires more than a little thought and requires an hour or
two a day although in the later stages and in big wars it can keep you  up all night.  We hate that don't we?
Anyway I find it is lots of fun and if you identify yourself I will probably be able to offer some advice unless I have to fight you and even then most players are fairly helpful
to noobs.  It is a hammer and nail kind of game and be prepared most players end up as nails but I keep going back for more.
It is a German wargame with all that entails.  ;D

I looked into this when you mentioned it a week or two ago and, while I found it intriguing, I disregarded it because I wouldn't be able to make the time commitment.  If I had no other gaming on the go (HA!) I'd have jumped right in. :)

I was going to say, that sounds great except I'm already running two Dom3 multiplayer games. ;)

Still, will try to keep an eye on it. Sounds interesting!

There are typically 2 or 3 campaigns on at a given time with turn lengths between 15 mins and 4 hours.  As a correction the one starting tomorrow is one hour turns,
and in progress are one with 2 hour turns and another with 4 hour turns.  The game can be joined in progress although prolly not the best idea for a beginner.
It is free and paying members get some nice little frills but nothing that can affect game outcome.  A non-paying player has no disadvantage in play at all.  Those who
pay a premium get a few little graphical tools to look at their progress which are nice but by no means an advantage.  If you wish to remain in the game after a defeat
you have the option of starting again right in the middle of the game with a tiny territory but average mid game resources (ie extra money and material stockpile).
