Wargame: AirLand Battle

Steam says 71 hours but thats not accurate as Ive left the up while doing other things.  last night it was open while I spent the evening watching Top Gear.  Id go with maybe 30ish.

Alright, what was the tipping point for you that it changed from the frantic click fest I see to what you are now playing?

clearing my mind of preconceived post Gulf War notions of what NATO equipment can do and not just rushing in a gang of M-1a expecting to crush everything.  ;)
no really, in the campaign games Im setting up as far back as I can and really working my recon so I can use my arty and airpower while I build up infantry blocking positions and assemble my armor units.  its been about figuring out how the different units work together and trusting the AI to do its job while I focus on other things.
for instance, lets say I have 6 ATGM teams in a town along with 6 regular infantry teams.  I dont have to micro manage them so much, if at all, when the OPFOR comes rolling through.  I take that time to order any fire support needed and then micro manage the aircraft which can do far more damage per unit then anything else.  this isnt a game where you can not lose units so get used to it and use the cheap stuff to buy you the time to work the expensive stuff.
it was also when I realized that you have enough days in a campaign to reach your objectives so theres no reason to rush around.  use the clock for you not against you.  also, even after Ive taken control zones, I dont spread my forces out so Im not panning all over the map putting out fires.

Gotcha.... I'll start giving that a try. I wasn't exactly running and gunning but I think I may have been initially too far forward to get setup before all went to hell.
Not afraid to lose units , but would really like to know what's going on before the scenario ends and I've somehow won it.....  :P

Is it even possible to restrict who plays in a MP game?

probably.  I know that we can play the campaigns co-op.

Pretty sure there is at least double that number who dwell hereabouts.  The trick is finding all the ones currently playing WALB a lot. 

While it's a game I'll definitely come back to on a regular basis, I still have lots of new games I've not even played yet.  I'm thinking others are exploring their new stuff right now, too, so may not have been actively playing WALB a lot recently.

I'm sure you could find a handful ready to go, on a weekend.  I played a few co-op games with a couple gentlemen here, last month.  Quite fun when the battlefield is divided up between teammates and you gotta know when/where to support your buddies (or call for help).  :D
