What?  Why did they close LucasArts then?  What a bunch of wankers.

Because they had no interest in paying the expenses of actually running a games company that had frankly become a dessicated husk of what it once was?

Don't you think it's a bit of a slap in the face to close a studio that makes Star Wars games, and then go on to...make Star Wars games?  They didn't have to close it completely; as it is, they're going to be paying a team to work on a game.  Why couldn't they have retained some LucasArts devs and pay them to do it?

What LucasArts devs? The guys who made Kinect Star Wars? Or the guys who made the Lego Star Wars games? Because since 2009, that's all that they've released aside from stuff like Monkey Island 2, which was just an HD remake. They had already been massively scaled back before the Disney acquisition. And they hadn't exactly been releasing gems on anything like a regular basis in quite some time. So why in the world would Disney want to pay to keep that running? Sure, they're paying EA to develop the game, but a lot less than the entire cost of development. And EA's dev studios have experience making good shooters and action games...LucasArts no longer did. LucasArts was a shuffling corpse waiting for someone to put them out of their misery. The only thing they had left going for them was nostalgia.

Screw Disney. I hope GOG gets the original TIE Fighter up there for the masses to relive (assuming that they are old like me).
