The Inhumans relaunched a comic series recently with those symbols subtly drawn into the standard "Inhumans" title font.

Between that and the announcement of the coming movie (and who would have thought we'd ever have an Inhumans movie -- I'm pretty sure I can only name and slightly describe four, and one is a teleporting dog), the city is probably Atillan. The Kree were responsible for introducing the mutant variations which produced the Inhumans (who are mutants but not Mutants so the MCU can use them -- odds are reasonably good this means the Maximov twins will be Inhumans now instead of "mutants"). So the Kree connections work out, too.

I was SURE the crazy murdering guy would turn out to be a MCU dialed-down version of Korvac, but he wasn't.  :'(

Ward's super-psycho side of the plot continues to be amazing.

I found it interesting that they said that the alien corpse (where the life-restoring drugs were harvested) is "older than the Pyramids."  Could there be a connection to En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse?

Most likely it is nothing more than a reference to the Inhumans having an advanced civilization older than all other human civilizations.

Can't be Apoc, Fox owns his rights. The MCU could get away with having the Maximov twins be inhumans instead of mutants as a way of avoiding shared-rights conflicts with Fox (between X-men and Avengers), but Apocalypse wasn't such a key Avengers foe that they had to negotiate shared rights. Heck, they went out of their way to use the Chitauri (aka Ultimate not-Skrulls-before-Ultimate-Skrulls-appeared) due to Fox having the rights to the Skrulls for the Fantastic Four. No reason to do that for someone the Avengers barely mess with.

I do however suspect that the 084 from that Mexican temple will come back into the plot soon. Reading recaps of the 1st season for amusement, I was reminded that they teased Skye's status as a 084 waaay back in that 2nd episode through a bit of throwaway dialogue. Some of the preplanning seems impressive in hindsight, though how much of that is/was narrative angulation (from a fencing term, slight adjustments to make things suddenly work great) who knows?

Ugh. Most of the first season is mediocre. The last 5-6 episodes are where it starts to click. Hang on for the payoff.

That first episode really wasn't bad at all. Interesting stuff. Not really a fan of the impossibly good-looking as actors but they're pretty good actors in their own right, so I'll stick with it.

As Mirth said, a lot of the mid-season episodes are pretty cliche, but there is some back-story in them so just push through them and then watch the rollercoaster drop down into the fun.

Something I'm finding kind of odd is how they're referring to superheroes in roundabout ways. They've actually mentioned the name "Stark" but that's the only direct reference to any of the Avengers they've made so far. No mention of their hero names - Iron Man, Hulk, etc.

It's a good show and at its worst the cast makes up for most of the shortcomings. I nearly gave up on it midway through the first season and some of the episodes aren't easy to get through. Once it hits its stride, all is forgiven.

It would have done better as a 13 episode season, rather than the 22 or so that it was. Silly network TV.

I didn't know it was Netflix. I'll probably end up rewatching it all this weekend :P
