Why not? I mean with the withdrawal of American leadership across the globe we might as well see the collapse of peaceful arrangements across the globe  ::)

Yeah, but the Romans had a good thousand year run. Tough to complain about that kind of shelf life. Us? 60 years? That's not a pimple on an elephant's butt in terms of history.

Why did they kill the fisherman? Was he a genuinely lethal threat? If not, the response is disproportionate and Taiwan is right to complain.

Philippines got too fed up with China's bullying, decided to vent out the anger on Taiwan.   Anyway, the response is disproportionate indeed.  They could have used other measures instead of shooting a gun.   The coast guard should invest in non lethal weapons like other nations.
