somwone help me out with something quick, pls -

How are Quicksilver / Scarlet Witch available for Avengers flicks when they're Magneto's kids, and he's tied to the X-Men franchise that's licensed to another studio.

Is is b/c they were Avengers for all those early years w/ Cap & Hawkeye?

What gives?

Update: the interview with Joss Whedon at apparently the same shoot (part of the same series) suggests the fight is with the Vision, though they don't say that explicitly.

More trivially, Joss wanted Paul Bettany (the voice of the Jarvis AI) to play the Vision long before getting involved in the MCU movies. One of his conditions for directing the first movie was that if they asked him back, the villain had to be Ultron creating the Vision.

Scarlet Witch won't just be doing telekenisis (telekenises? crap I fell like such an ungeek...) as in the stinger for Cap 2; she'll be showing alternate universes to the main characters, for example, which kind of fits her canonical power set (of actualizing alternate universes where improbable things happen).

The legal answer, is that Marvel negotiated the rights to be shared, because Scarlet Witch is such a key Avenger (and if her, then also her brother Quicksilver as a package).

Even in comics canon I'm not sure they're still the children of Magneto; the connection with Von Strucker in the film didn't come out of nowhere, it has its roots in some part of the canon at one point.

Whether they're Inhumans or not in the MCU seems more up in the air.

I have heard that they are not Magneto's kids in the Disney movies.

They are certainly not in the Disney movies. (Though some leeway may be left in, in case Fox ever decides to let go of their X-men properahahahahahaaa sorry couldn't finish that sentence. ;) )

I 1000% expect them to do the same with Captain America in Cap3 (since after all the comics did): Cap "dies", someone takes over for a while, Cap's back in time for Infinity War Part 2.
