Starting a Civ 5 game with the European Map Mod with the civs placed geographically. I'm playing as Rome. Looks well done in the early going.

So with all those games being considered for play this weekend plus all the other games in need of playing, I ended up spending most of my gaming time finishing a career in the old OOTP developments game, Inside the Park Baseball. It basically is the OOTP engine with an rpg thrown on top. There was talk of there being another edition of the game, but it never materialized. Every once in a while though I start it up and play through a career.

Interesting that Carthage declared war on my Rome about 300 BC. The main point of contention was my founding a city near the toe of the boot that began to encroach on Sicily.

Ended up playing DW, WoT and Alea Jacta Est. Saturday was at a graduation party, so not much gaming then. Also watched a few episodes of the Sopranos in remembrance (think I'm going to watch the whole series, he was a great actor).

I made some real good progress in Skyrim, completing a few quests and exploring new territory. I still haven't made it to my player home near Solitude, always getting side-tracked somehow. Got into to some really tough fights too and had to re-start quite a few times. Now I've got a whole bunch of new stuff to go with my old stuff and I've got to decide what to keep and what I can't do without. :-\

Played a little Rift, Friday night. Which was all my gaming until yesterday afternoon. Played a couple hours of Distant Worlds and a few turns of a new 1st Punic War game in Birth of Rome.

It turned out to be a Rise of Prussia Gold Week-end. I've been Prussian and the AI Austrians have more-or-less beaten me in the first 3 campaigns. The region cards are pretty neat and some of them relate to seiges.

I was considering shelling out for Combat Mission Fortress Italy/Gustav Line when it occurred to me that I'd never really played CM Battle for Normandy. I fired it up and enjoyed a couple of games (and realized that it's a very, very different game from CMSF). After reading on the Battlefront Forums that most people play it turned-based and not real-time like I've been playing it, I decided to give that a try.

There went the rest of the weekend, and probably the rest of at least this week. I've always enjoyed the CMx2 games, but this is an entirely different level of play.

I have to purposely leave it alone to have a week or weekend. When I feel like I'm winning, that's when I get worried it's about to put on it's Ass-Kicking Boots.

Has anyone tried the ACW Brothers vs. Brothers mod for Empire Total War? If not you should. Spent way more time on this than the other games I was going to play this weekend but it was totally worth it.

I really like the attention to detail. From the background biographies and various event descriptions to the unit cards and uniforms. Battlefield sound effects blow the vanilla game out of the water and the tactical ai is no pushover even on 'normal' difficulty. The only weakness I see so far is the strategic ai. I wonder though, if I bump the difficulty up to hard what would happen?

From what I read about this mod I believe Darth Mod worked on this mod as well and it shows.
