I'm patiently waiting for MetalDog to finish his turn in Warlock.

somehow I have a hard time picturing that...  you know you're incessantly pacing wondering "where the f*** is that guy?! at his day job?"

It's been an entire week and the guy hasn't returned the turn. Sheesh.

I read these forums for months and all MD posts about is Warlock, Warlock, Warlock.

So I join a game with him and all I do is wait, wait, wait.

I'm starting to believe the rumors.

I'm up to my ankles in Mujahedin and Iranians over in Afghanistan.  My Soviet reactionary force is steadily advancing in a GT: Shield of the Prophet campaign. However, casualties are steadily mounting.  I had a rough series of contacts in the dark of night and early morning hours that really hurt the tip of my spear.  Reserves were released in the South, so hopefully opening up an advance on a new front will take some of the pressure off.

Anyway, it will be questionable how much gaming I get done this weekend.  My mom is leaving today and so its going to be a long weekend of wifey and me alone with the baby...might end up playing the diaper changing DLC...

I have tried twice to beat the Iranians and muj as the Soviets in this game and I just can't do it. I just lose to many tanks to keep up momentum. Seems like they always see me before I see them

In general, I've managed to keep a casualty rate of close to 5:1.  For instance, so far, I have lost approximately 60 KIA to their approximate 330 KIA.  Add in wounded/captured/missing figures, and the numbers increase even more in my favor.  However, I suffered a number of setbacks in late night/early morning combats that have stunned me, and may signal a turning tide.  I too lost several tanks over the course of these battles, which took place between the hours of 2300 and 0400.  My heaviest losses occurred due to ambushes.

I agree, in the pitch of night, I found it unusual that these guys were sitting out there just waiting for me and my units would not discover their locations until we were right in front of them and they had already launched their attacks, or worse, we had passed them and they were engaging us from the rear.

My plan is to try to stabilize my thrust in the east and attempt to reorganize, repair and refit, while I launch an aggressive attack in the South with newly released reserve forces.  The Southern reserve force is comparatively small, but I'll see what they can do...

Closing in on a win as Saga in FOTS, making steady progress as the Byzatines in M2TW- Sicilian Vespers, and will visit my Breezehome north of Solitude in Skyrim. Probably needs cleaning and I want to make sure no damned giants are hanging around. That mammoth shit is hell to clean-up. 8)

Going to enjoy my last few days of vacation. Didn't get as much gaming in a I wanted too. The heat wave early in the week was just miserable, and I spent most of my time just trying to keep my apartment cool. Going to spend today running around to a few gun stores looking for a new gun, so that will limit my gaming during the day. If I get a new gun that will further cut down on gaming time, since I'm going to have to go break it in at the range or more probably up in the mountains.

Tonight will be spent trying to get MOO3 patched and modded. I couldn't get the Gamersgate version to work, so purchased the GOG version on sale and that actually runs on Windows 8. Now if I can could just get Norton to stop flagging the Tropical mod stuff as a virus. Could it be because the MOO3 mods make changes to the exe?

I'm also going to continue my new Distant Worlds Shadows campaign as the Ackdarian's. My campaign as the Wekkarus came to an end early in the week when a pirate faction raided my home system. Raided my homeworld, destroyed the space port, destroyed all but a few of the systems mines. Was game over, really no way to recover from that.

Also on deck for this weekend is Vicky 2 HOD, WW1 Gold, AJE, and Wargame ALB.

Same...night battles. Even when I am on defense and not moving, all of a sudden my tanks will start taking fire and exploding...several seconds later I will begin seeing the enemy. Like they have NVGs or something. AI cheat? Anyway, it's still a great game

The Iranian tanks should have better NV gear than the Soviets.  If you look at the stats page after the battle when fighting the Muj, you'll often see that the AI puts them in single file and makes them crawl everywhere.  Oftentimes the battle will time out before they can even get close to your position but when they can get close to you, they're hard to spot in that formation and they have an annoying habit of ruining your day with RPGs.  I found that sacrificing the remnants of a dismounted tank crew to act as as picquet would often catch them before they reached my main force. 

I think I did alright in my campaign playthrough but didn't grab my objectives quickly enough.  That's why it ended as a draw.

Also on the last few days of vacation. In between sweating my ass off outside and passing out in the a/c, I will be playing as the Brits in Africa in some modded Civ V. Also preparing to launch a big campaign as the Choshu in Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai.

I would expect the Iranians to have superior armor...however, I wouldn't really expect them to know how to use it effectively, or to maintain it all.

I've been playing a fair bit of Armada 2526 Supernova and Medieval Total War/Viking Invasion (with XL mod) the last day or two.  I'm also feeling the need for some good old-fashioned RPG action, so I'll maybe play some Neverwinter Nights or Baldurs Gate as well.
