Until I talked to the Instructor I had no idea renting a plane was so much.  Then I looked at the used plane market...  As a teacher it'll never happen....unless I go Heisenberg, but unfortunately I'm not a chemistry teacher.

That's why I went the career way; not only do you get to fly an airplane often, you also are surrounded by beautiful women most of the time. :P

I have dipped my toe into Flight Sim Addon world...  I'm going to need to find another job to support my simming habit.  The Aerosoft Twin Otter was my gateway drug.  Now I'm up all night trying to score Carenado B1900D's, Qualitywings BAE-146's....I'm jonesing for a regional maaaaan!

Tuna

The Twin Otter Extended is one of my favorites!.. Forget Carenado.. try out Milviz Baron B-55 or Real Air's Duke's

Grab an Orbx Region, Active Sky Next, Rex 4 and a few airports and enjoy the ride! Come on, you haven't spent enough yet!!!  :uglystupid2:

Toonces

Take your time, be patient, and keep an eye on JustFlight for a sale.  They put planes on sale pretty regularly, and with July 4 right around the corner...

I'm wanting a b1900 becauswe I binge watched all of Flying Wild Alaska and the idea of my little prop commuter in the bush is very exciting.  :D

On AVSIM there is a Bargain Hunter s section that posts a lot sales. Just last weekend there was an orbx sale. Pcaviator.com has 10 percent off every Tuesday!

Thanks Tuna, I'll keep my eye out!

Have any of you tried the A2A C172 Trainer?  The videos on it look pretty amazing.

Tuna

Jomni has it, it does look amazing, and their new Cherokee. But their seperate P3D pricing kind of ticks me off. As someday might make the jump to P3D dont want to have to pay for the same aircraft again! Carenado, Orbx, your Twin Otter, they let you install on both.

What's the state of Prepare3D v. FSX? Is it worth getting for a casual simmer if one already has FSX (i.e. exclusive content that would make it worth the investment) or is it more a case of P3D being the future of civ simming so one might as well get into it now?

Stick with FSX if you are casual.  P3D is a fancy upgrade.  A bit more stable but still FSX in it's core.
Currently P3D is still 32bit so you still run with the same memory limitations as FSX.

PMDG recently made an announcement regarding P3D.  They are working out the licencing and indicated that the 777 and any other aircraft for P3D will be substantially more expensive because they don't expect casual simmers to own it.  Just like A2A.  People who already have the 777 need to re-buy the new license.   This is a bit of a downer actually.

As for me, I have moved on to X-Plane.  It's just easier to load up a flight, add new airports and aircraft.  But it is still pretty bare bones compared to the amount of additional content FSX has.  The scenery kinda sucks too. :P  But I am willing to compromise.  I kinda miss PMDG and Orbx though.

Screw PMDG and A2A, if they want to double dip our wallets, they can go to hell. I won't be buying any more of their products until I switch to P3D, if I ever will. My money will go to the ORBX/Caranado/Aerosofts of the world. Kind of a shame because both PMDG and A2A are top notch quality wise.

I've owned both Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane for the past several versions.  I've always thought X-Plane would be my preferred sim if there were addons.  I love my Twin Otter from Aerosoft.  I've only got one add-on for FSX so I'm not too invested to switch to X-Plane if I can find the aircraft I want to fly.
