On the downside, he didn't have to serve very long. Suicide was a quick exit.

Someone related to his capture or trial stated that Castro was too much of a coward to endure a mere month of captivity while those women survived a decade of it, under ghastly conditions. Or words to that effect.

I believe that it was the judge who presided over Castro's trail.
