There is only one single-player mission in Arma3?!  Wow.

I hope it's some huge randomized sandbox-ish kinda map, then.  Otherwise that blows.

Smells like DLC in the future?  The precedent has surely been inching towards less release features and sell the rest later in these big titles, of late.  That would'nt be a big deal but the original games are still being priced top dollar.  It's sliding into what all the critics of micro-transactions and smaller-DLC-vice-large-expansions had warned about years ago.

Toonces

Ok, I checked.  It does not come with any missions or campaigns, but it has 15 showcase missions.  I haven't tried them yet.

Like I said before, there is a lot of content already in the Steam workshop and of course you can create quick missions using Planned Assault if you are into that.

It's not as big of a deal as you are thinking, seriously.

I don't think this is all part of a nefarious plan to DLC us to death.  I think these BI wanted to get ARMA3 out before the next CoD and BF iterations, so although it is sort of incomplete, they will likely add content for free for a while.

It's not a huge deal to me, I was more just trying to determine if I was looking in the right place for the missions.....I am sure there will be plenty of user created missions created, if not already.

As a long time ARMA user, I never really delve too long into the canned SP missions or campaigns anyway. :)

So it's all in the multi-player?

I'm asking because, as I said, I've not even fired up ARMA 2 yet.  The last time I played one from these guys it was Operation:Flashpoint stuff long ago, in the far far away.

The SP campaign in ArmA II is actually pretty cool but over ambitious.  It's a COIN op but it doesn't rely on triggers.  It's up to you to explore the map and winkle out baddies but stuff happens whether you're around to see it or not.

Nefaro, I mean I just make my own stuff or download 3rd party missions.  There's a also this default random patrol mission that I keep firing up once in a while.

Guys I just bought it (ARMA3).  There are TONS of single player content in Steam Workshop.  Maybe that's why the devs didn't bother doing SP stuff.  As for MP, I see that there are Wasteland servers so I'm good to go. :)

Wasteland servers are a bit hit and miss right now.  A lot of players are reporting huge FPS drops.  I think it's due to the ridiculous number of scripts the server is running.  The games the SimHQ crowd played earlier tonight were very stable and nobody reported any big FPS drops.  There were a few hiccoughs but I'm sure that'll be ironed out in future patches.  For co-op MP, the game is superb.  Single player stuff isn't there yet though so you may want to hold off for updates and/or a sale.

yep, there's always plenty to do in the ARMAverse.  Lately I've been mostly making my own missions.  All the new gear will make that somewhat more interesting.  I usually play the missions from both sides, plus when you get killed you can switch sides.

The new stuff is pretty interesting.  The FIA (one of my favorite factions) are back.  They aren't independent or opfor but they aren't well-armed either.  Actually since Opfor (whoever they are supposed to be) seems to have an edge over NATO/BLUEFOR and the Independents are even less well-armed, the FIA are way, way, way down the gear list.  Hence my interest (plus happy memories of some ARMA where the FIA had T-55s).

Is anyone noticing a HUGE slowdown in the game?

When I load a mission, it goes into hyper slow mode - even loading the game, then the graphics are a slide show.

When I first built my system and loaded ArmA III, I set all the graphics settings to high and played a couple of missions - and stared in awe at the graphics.

Then at some point I set my Catalyst Drivers to enforce FSAA (for Rome II)...and since then I've suffered this huge slow down. I have since turned off FSAA in the Catalyst control panel, but the problem has persisted, making me think it may not have been that at all.

Anyone else or just me?

mmm...it actually played OK there.

But whenever I try and load the Drones mission, it goes into super slow.

Confused  ???

I haven't noticed anything even remotely close to a slow down. I never even noticed any back in the alpha or beta versions.

I played through some of the show case missions over the weekend. While fun, they do seem rather limited on replay ability. Anyone have any mods or scenarios they recommend. I took a quick look last night before I went to bed and it seems like there is a lot of stuff on Steamworks already.

Whats wasteland?
PanzersEast: Have to think to myself.... will I play the first one by the Winter Sale?  Probably not, then I should remove Dragonfall
PanzersEast: but that is thinking too logically.... and Steam Sales are about ignoring Logic

I never noticed any in the beta or alpha either.

But I've tried the Drone mission and the frame rate is like 1 frame every 10 seconds...same with the Armoured Assault one I just tried. Inside the APC it was fine, went outside to look about and I was getting 1 frame every ten seconds or so. Back inside was ok...then we disembarked and initially it was ok then went down to a frame every ten seconds a few seconds later...totally unplayable.

And yet I had just previously been in the infantry assault mission and it was super quick. No slow downs at all.

It's so slow I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to get out because pressing keys to get the menu up is too slow!

Whats wasteland?

Warfare is a multiplayer game mode made by the ARMA community.
You can join two opposing teams (OPFOR, BLUFOR), or an independent faction (can kill anyone).
You start with just pistol then look around for vehicles and weapons (like DayZ).
Then mini missions are assigned every 10-20 minutes.
The side that completes the mini missions is rewarded with a combat vehicle.

I've been playing on a good Australian conquest server. Coop against the AI.  The players there are professional and somewhat coordinated with dedicated airlift pilots. Getting to the AO is not a problem when these guys are around.  And no silly juvenile team killing at base. They are part of the OCB clan.  I tired to join but it seems that I can't submit the online form for some reason.

PanzersEast

I'll buy now if we could get a group going here.  I play with the Sim group, but hard to meet up on the weekend.  Even just 3 or 4 of us.
