IMHO: it looks like ISON took some damage:  :o

the last SOHO C2 pictures i got my hands on from 17:48 UT 'the brighness' was fading and 'smeard' over a longer part of the trail.....

the SDO images (with their standart image processing) showed nothing at all .... well that just says there ar no (or not enuf) ionised atoms glowing in extreme ultravilot, or the constrast is to low (the picture also has part of the sun in it, so a dedicated image processing may show something later )

Missed seeing ISON but did manage to have a look at Comet Lovejoy very early Saturday morning with my 80mm short-tube refractor- very nice!

i've read about Lovejoy :) , it shall be at a good position in the sky to find, but very dim.... i dunno if binos work  and i am in kind of light polluted area

what mount do you have for your telescope?   maybe even those with a auto position and track ...or just a tripod.

My area is also light polluted but I was able to see Lovejoy at 20x with an 80mm aperture. You might be able to see it with 10x50 binos, although 12-15x70 would be better. Unfortunately my scope has an alt/az (AZ3) mount so no astrophotography
