No $hit? I hadn't even looked at the 16 ton bays. I thought that was the max! Thanks.

Yes I have 2 x 32s, 2x16s, and a 4.  I went ahead and kept my shields this time.  :)  It'll max out at 116 tons.

This is a handy guide to the ships:  http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Ships

#2 - To increase low speed maneuverability (like trying to line up better with the landing pad) divert power to weapons and shields.  This moves the best turning speed as low as possible

I've made about $750,000 credits today just by running simple courier missions, mostly within one system. Some of the most lucrative jobs have been in system between two docks about 250ls away from each other. Some have also been to a system about 8 LY away. A lot of easy money today.

loving the 6 yet?

Not totally. I still have not taken complete advantage of it's larger hold yet. Most of the courier runs I did yesterday did not require more than 50 or 60 tons total, even though I would take on two or three missions at once. I needed these lucrative courier jobs in order to build up enough income to start trying large high profit trades.

I don't think I'm ever going to like flying anything that is dedicated to trade. It's just not my preferred style of play. I prefer piloting combat focused ships...it's just much more exciting for me. I hate running from a fight and so far in my lakon travels I've had to evade 3 interdiction attempts and run for my life from a little sidewinder. Not easy to run from criminals.

For me, the lakon is a means to an end. Whatever yields me the most profit so I can get closer to affording a python or an anaconda.

Have you tried fitting turret mounted weapons on the hardpoints?  With the bubble cockpit of the Lakon 6 a couple of turreted beam lasers might be enough to ward off a npc Sidewinder.  Course those turreted beams are 500k a piece I believe.  I plan to take my Lakon to the max since I think its the largest thing that can dock with an outpost.  (Not 100% sure)

I've also bought a Viper that I plan to trick out with my profits from the Lakon.

Turreted beams are the logical idea but putting that kind of money into what is a defensive weapon seems like a waste to me. I'm never going to proactively look for combat in a Lakon. Besides, they will add mass and just slow me down. I rather invest in heavier armor and better shields.  I'll just have to swallow my pride and accept that fact that I need to run from trouble in a Lakon.

You will not regret having a Viper. So far, its my favorite ship in the game.

Once they sort out moving your stored ships, I hope they add quite a few more ships to choose from.  The progression seems a little more rapid than I thought it would be.  My operating costs in the Lakon aren't as high as I thought they would be.  The Cobra was a step up in fuel usage but the Lakon hasn't really been.

I agree that there needs to be more ships. I feel like there are too many wealth gaps. For instance, you get the Lakon Type 6 for $1,000,000 and change, and the next available ship costs over $6,000,000. That is a huge difference...there should be options in the two, three, four and five million credit range.  The gaps continue and only seem to get wider as you move up the ladder.  What's next? A Type 7 for like $17,000,000? Until you get to the Python, the ships differ in price by about $10,000,000 to $15,000,000 before there is a tremendous jump to the Anaconda.  There is a lot of room to fill out price gaps with dedicated and multi-role craft.

I agree completely.  The low end is great.  The Sidewinder, Adder, Asp, Hauler, Viper are all great variety of choices.  The Cobra is a good interim to the Lakon...but then there's a big gap.

I'm starting to feel for this game.   :coolsmiley:

you'll get your ships.  why I remember once when WoT was just a WW2 tank game.... ::)
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

More ships and some more player community mechanics would be fun.  A way for players to hold territory or something.  Not widespread, but enough to cause some massive combat.  :)

LOL.

I remember when it was just a handful of Russian and German tanks back in CB.  And two maps.  :D

there are 4 wars at the minute, one entirely orchestrated by the players - its taken them a long time but theyve swung the entire system to their independent cause - the crimson something or other, taking it from the faction that held power

I had no idea!  I guess I need to find a good Elite news site so I can fly over and get in the thick of it.
