I have finally reached the bottom of my board game stack...but many still need to be played! This weekend will finally see Galaxy Defenders hit the table a few times.

On the PC, a few friends from work are grabbing the Diablo 3 expansion, so I might do the same. Otherwise, it's time for either The Banner Saga or Assassin's Creed 4.

Rather annoyed that the new Arkham Origins DLC campaign (a new multi-hour proper campaign featuring Mr. Freeze and most likely his Arkhamverse origin story) will release next Tuesday after the Easter weekend.  >:(

But I haven't played through Origins a second time yet, so I may do that between further Ethiopian exploits at the end of WW1. (Nothing new for the AAR yet; I'm sure I'll have to get past the War first before coming back into the story.)
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

Looks like Wasteland 2 will be getting a major patch tomorrow. Assuming no last minute delays, that will definitely see some playtime this weekend.

Any impressions of Banner Saga? I've had it on my Steam wishlist for awhile now but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.
PanzersEast: Have to think to myself.... will I play the first one by the Winter Sale?  Probably not, then I should remove Dragonfall
PanzersEast: but that is thinking too logically.... and Steam Sales are about ignoring Logic

'Geek actually confused me for Jesus? Well I'll be...

...on top of taking care of MiniGus 1 and 2, cursing work, moving back into our house and nursing my eye, I am debating whether to get Age of Wonders III, Wargame: Red Dragon, or both. To calm my brain, I have been playing Assassin's Creed III when I can.

^That is a great idea. I'll scream extra loud into the phone too since SDR is on the opposite coast.

My condolences to all who haven't got a long weekend or those who are working.

I am definitely going to through Phantom Leader in there over this weekend. Board gaming has been calling me.

I never got into World at War:Blood and Bridges. It should've been right up my street - but I think the rules foxed me. I may have to look at trading that one  :(

I'll also do my F1 2013 Spanish race...take my career a step closer to the season end.

Apart from that, I don't really know. I'll have to think about it. I might dive in and out of a few games - but nothing else is written in stone

Perhaps we'll continuing our Borderlands 2 coop story and/or Diablo 3 adventures on the 360. Battle of Stalingrad and LOTR or Star Wars LCGs also an idea. We'll see :)

What about the rules have you foxed?

^^I picked up Titanfall today for the 360 after Grimnirsson campaigned hard and fast for me to get it.  I played hooky today from my temporary contract assignment and got some time in with Titanfall as well as some Dark Souls 2.

I'm so glad I picked up TF even though it will probably be the last shooter I play on the 360.  The game is fast and furious and believe it or not slow enough to plan your moves accordingly.  It's hard to explain but in the beginning of a match there is the thrill of hunting for the enemy.  You have plenty of time to sneak around and tag along with a comrade in search of bad guys.  Once first contact is made however all hell breaks loose.  Yet despite the furious action it is really easy to get back into the fight with awesome situational awareness compared to shooters I've played in the past.  I believe it has to do with how the maps are made and the actual landmarks you can use to navigate around.

Based on my observations in two matches I played today it seems like there is somewhat of a frontline that is defined in each match unlike in other shooters.  I'm going to be exploring this title some more this weekend for sure.

Thanks Grim!

Well - it's been a while. I actually have an AAR started - but I've really really struggled to get back to it. I "partly" blame the rules. They are ambiguous and all over the place imo. Or - should I say - not quite as "crisp" as the DVG games.

I know - apples and oranges - but still - it keeps me from going back. I don't think I have the energy to re-read the rules and re-digest them. The first, second and third goes through them kind of winded me.

I have the "FAQ" about questions and clarity.

To be fair though, I'm not sure it's just the rules. From what I recall, I was having a problem with the mechanics. I've started the first scenario - and for a solitaire game/scenario, it's really difficult to be impartial. I think games that make one side defend and the other side attack are fair solitaire games. The first scenario in this has both sides trying to exit the map as the objective.

To be impartial means I have to make both sides engage...which means I have to make both sides move into "danger". I just don't know how to play this impartially.

I don't really know - it's just not clicking.

Maybe I'll give it another go - but this is the third time I've started this scenario in this game...I've not struggled with other games this way...and that kind of suggests it ain't gonna be my bag.

It's another "all 4x" weekend for me, I think.

On the fantasy side, I'm feeling the pull of both Age of Wonders 3 and Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes

Of the space/sci-fi variety, will still be playing Birth of the Federation, but am also feeling the siren call of Distant Worlds: Shadows once more...

I think maybe you should try a different scenario..... maybe one where there is a more clearly defined "defender"/"attacker". I don't have B&B so can't really suggest a scenario.
I do have America Conquered and found that the Defender/Aatacker scenarios are easier to get into and play solo.
