Already have some Civ IV MP promised. I owe Kushan some EUIV. I had a hankering for some CK2 earlier this week, but, I don't see that happening.

Trying to get some board gaming in but finding time to re-learn long forgotten rules is hard.

One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands...thank you 'Geek. I hope to get further along in my Civ V campaign as Venice. If that doesn't go too well may start a M2TW game with the Stainless Steel mod v6.3 as...Venice. Maybe some M2TW Teutonic campaign. And checking out Endless Legend.
Been playing WoT a lot myself lately.
Now that you can blow turrets off of tanks, I've been changing some of the guns on a few tanks to a higher caliber and aiming mainly at turrets and turret rings.
And researching where the ammo racks are on most tanks so that my other smaller caliber guns can have a better chance of dismembering the turret also.
Blowing turrets off of tanks or setting them on fire is a very satisfying visual experience. 8)
I'm not in a clan, but I seem to delight in singling out and targeting clan members for some odd reason.

With the bugs introduced in the patches, I have been hesitant to get to deep into my current game.

Skyrim - Been messing around with lighting mods this week. I really wanted to try out the new version of the RCRN mod but can't get it to work with ENB/ENBoost. Now I'm leaning towards using the Seasons of Skyrim ENB for my new character.

I'm finally up to May 1920 in my Ethiopia Darkest Hour campaign, but still not ready to go back to AAR yet. Waging the peace has been a long grind while everyone else is having fun fighting WW1, but I learned the hard way that Ethiopia just cannot expect to liberate Africa from the colonials without something like a modern army. Which I still don't quite have yet, though I'm finally up to technical par. (On the ground, still practically no air or sea power.)

I am still stuck on the road to Warsaw in Decisive Campaigns- WtP. I lost my first campaign against Poland, so I restarted on an easier level and still couldn't win. So now I've restarted a third campaign on the easiest level possible. This is the one where the Poles don't even shoot, they just throw Kielbasa Sausages at you as your tanks go by, and the AI's still tough on this level. If the real Polish Army had fought this well in 1939, Hitler would've had to change his name to "Lipshitz" and get a job driving a taxi in Munich. But I'm making progress and the AI hasn't played the same way twice each campaign so I'm very impressed with it. And a little Rome 2 for a break. But I'm staying away from anything named Warsaw-icum. 8)
I am also working on my old Romulan campaign in Birth of the Federation....about 500 turns so far...after a good start in my war against the Cardassians, i've just lost my entire invasion fleet in a glorious battle...have to hurry to build up a new fleet before they launch a real counterattack! :P

That thing's shelf life has been extensive since there's not been any proper attack helo sims out, with multiple models and a dynamic campaign, in ages. If they pop out a new version of that supermod sometime soon, I'll definitely have to load it all up on my new rig.

Awww man. Wish I had better luck with BotF on my modern computers. When I tried running it with a/the mod last year, it refused to work properly. :-\ Even before that, the memory leak would often drive me batty after awhile.

The key to DC:WtP is to not get tied down in static battles or attack on the entire front. Pick locations where you can mass artillery and airpower, use your infantry to punch holes in the Polish line then drive yer tanks as far as you can through the holes. Don't worry too much if they get cutoff for a turn just keep the tanks moving as far and as fast as possible to isolate large sections of the Polish army.
If yer tanks are in the same place for more than 2 turns then yer not moving fast enough. Use the slow infantry to keep the supply lines open.
And remember that you don't have to kill every Polish unit, just beat them in the race to Warsaw. If you are not fast enough they will build a solid defence that will take you too long to get through.

(If not, you can request a link for it in this thread (http://www.armadafleetcommand.com/onscreen/botf/viewtopic.php?f=134&t=2720); they've given it to pretty much everyone who's asked for it.) Like I've said before, it's not a fix-all, but a number of folks have enjoyed success in getting BOTF to run on newer machines with MPR installed.
Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done to get around the memory leak. There's 1-2 long-term projects a couple of the modders are working on that could help with that, but it's going to be ages before anything comes of it (if ever). Until then, I'm afraid we're stuck with it. :-\

Think I tried vanilla and 'BoB'(?) but my problem was major graphical issues. The menus were all screwed up and what I could see was messed up. I looked up some suggestions but gave up after a couple quick fixes didn't work. I've written it off at this point.
Funny .. I still have the original disk and manual around here somewhere. I remember getting that when it came out.. when was that? 99?

Yep, BOTF was released back in 1999. There are times it's hard for me to believe it was that long ago already.

Dunno. The update sounded pretty cryptic and secretive. :D

This update is obviously adding to it, but that 'mega-mod' already has quite the majority of it. It still looks rather aged but there are lots of helos and campaigns in it, along with new gfx and stuff in general. It's not a study sim, so you won't be pushing virtual buttons, but it's still a flight sim as evidenced by the key command guide you can gawk at there.
I will be letting slip the dogs of war and playing Fallen Enchantress as well as 7 Days to Die, maybe slip in a little Unity of Command, Airship Dragoon and Allied Corps to round out the weekend.
so far i have done a bit of exploring in Endless Legends, built a second city and assimilated the Bos, which is cool because i dont have cavalry units and theyre centaurs - great idea
currently looking for strategic resources so i can beef up my units with better kit

PC games..I am strongly considering Airship Dragoon ($5 on Gamersgate this weekend, 75% off), and I am also strongly considering purchasing The Golf Club. The course designer alone would be worth that much to me.

in all fairness, I haven't spent a penny on the game and got quite far before my rig blew out like Windy at a fossil convention.
I've got me crews ans specialized tanks and I use these kind of contests to get premium stuff. the cheapest and most valuable being camo. I know that at least Windy has been up against this idea and not been happy.
Watched first episode of Firefly with my boys. Eighteen year old just got into it (thinks it's the best show ever), and now he's trying to turn the fifteen year old onto it. LOL, Now I'll have to watch the series again (not a bad thing).
After that I hit FE: Legendary Heroes, completed my first game with a Volcano Spell (I didn't know that would end it, but my last rival gave in after I coated one of his cities with Lava). Then fired up a new game!
Started off the weekend with a skirmish round of 4v4 with ai in Wargame:ALB, did the tutorial in FE:LE, and did some bounties in Diablo 3.
Planning on probably playing some more of those this weekend, and playing AoE 2. I'd also like to start spending time with CM:BN and OOTP15.

Balance of Power (BOP), with a few tweaks of my own added in.
In addition to BOP, I also recommend Ultimate Dominion Mod III (UDM3) and All the Ages Mod (AAM). Both very solid, and are roundly praised.

Have a little bourbon buzz on today, so I think I will wait till tomorrow to give this game a good looking over.
I've watched quite a few videos of this game over the last few months and it looks interesting and the people here that play some of the other games I like give this game a thumbs up, so I think this may be a game that grabs my interest also.
I tried the Rome I demo briefly a month ago but the graphics didn't grab me after seeing the Rome II videos, so hopefully this will be a better initial impression.

It's a good game for what it is. As with any total war game, it's not grog material but with some Mods....it's a great game. Frankly, even vanilla it's good. The Steam workshop has a ton of mods

I'm really not much of a drinker after spending 3 months in a VA hospital having 1/2 my stomach removed 2 years ago for a bleeding ulcer complication.
But I was at my sisters house today and my Brother in law wanted me try his newest whiskey love(1792 Ridgemont Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky) and thought what the hell, I haven't had a decent drink in awhile.
Hopefully, I'm not worshipping the whiskey gods at the porcelain alter and will just suffer some minor hangover repercussions.
To tell the truth though, I really don't miss drinking and I think it took me 15 mins of spell check before I was willing to post this. :-[

I will be playing a little PBEM CMBN (the last quarter of playing two scenarios and these two scenarios are way more bloody and frustrating and exciting than playing QB). A little CM RT but mostly just picking away at it to see the differences between the 2.0 and 3.0 engines

I first heard
So What while clubbing in 1987 and liked it but never knew what the song was or who made it. Fast forward about 10 years and my neighbor in the apartment downstairs was playing it about 1AM after I went to bed. There's something about taking on a human opponent in a good card driven war game that's like chess on steroids; even better because of the asymmetrical nature of most games. It's cat and mouse. Your role could change without warning! I don't believe I've ever gotten that from a PC game with an AI opponent.
That is also a great tune. I LOVED Ministry in college. NWO byotches.
I remember hearing Ministry on a rubbish walkman my friend had brought in to school, they totally blew me away even through those cruddy headphones. My taste in music was never the same after that.
Last saw them a few years ago, excellent show though Al Jourgenson was looking weird. Possibly at a low point in his alcoholism.

so far the Vikings almost took all England, Mercia held out in the end, Wessex (me as Alfred) became a puppet state of the Vikings. The king of wessex died (my brother) and his son triggered a succession crisis, and we went to war - he lost Wessex itself to me leaving me with Dorset and Wessex. Building ports i saved enough money to hire mercenaries, i was the King of Denmarks marshal, and declared my independence - he let me go without a war - this allowed me to create the Duchy of Wessex again and incorporated Somerset into my lands - i kicked out the Viking earl and that left me with South West England as an independent state in England. This left me the chance to build up and claim the Duchy of Hwicce (Oxford, Gloucester and Wiltshire) from the king of Denmark - he had just entered a massive war with Poland leaving these provinces defenceless - they fell to me soon. My cousin the King of Mercia then started gobbling up the rest of the Midlands, and retook East Anglia - we both have ambitions to create England again. At the same time my wife's father died leaving her as the sole heir to the Duchy of Apulia and Bari - titles that will be passed to my son - but she needs my help as Italy just went up in flames in civil war, and now its 240!!

I think I did see the movie once because I had a girlfriend who loved Val Kilmer, but I could never associate Val Kilmer with Jim Morrison.
Val was an actor. Jim Morrison was a poet and a visionary.
He felt his countrys' pain and felt powerless to actually influence it.
I get the impression He gave up and decided it wasn't worth the effort and death was more preferable than witnessing our ultimate decline.
I wish he would have felt differently, because He really was a mirror into our own soul.
Played Titanquest. I like it far more this time. I forgot about it after the 2nd town first time through. This time past the 3rd town in a few hours.
I had a strong desire to play Longbow 2 a little while ago. I wonder what my old monster 2 vid card would do mated to an i5 system. That was a great game that should be updated.

Can I use this for the Total war For King and Country mod.
I've been reading a lot about the English Civil war in the 1600's and would like to add this mod if applicable to what I have now.
I'm not very familiar with the whole Total war series and basing this question on the idea of what Graviteam does with all its DLCs and how you can apply them to the whole series.

After doing a quick Google search, it looks like the King and Country mod is for Medieval 2, not Rome 2, so no you can't use it. Rome 2 also has to be registered on Steam in order for it to work, so if your brother in law already did that it wont work for you.
I dug back into the Pacific theater this weekend. Started with some IL-2, Pacific campaign as a Marine fighter pilot. From there I dropped back into my WitP:AE campaign of all things...took a bit to remember what the heck I was doing when I left off (preparing to invade Efate).
Finished the evening off with a butt-ton of Rising Storm. I had a nice kill streak, like 26 kills, as a machine gunner but then got server kicked because I TK'd one too many friendlies. I've never had that happen before. The threshold must have been pretty low, too, because I don't think I TK'd more than 3 people...in a 20 minute long match as a machine gunner that's actually not that many. Especially considering I was laying down all sorts of suppressing fire and dumb asses were running into my bullet stream. ::) Getting kicked pissed me off pretty bad, actually. >:(
God, I bet I haven't listened to Ministry in more than a decade. That goodness I didn't run across these videos last night when I was shit faced or I'd have been on Youtube all damn night!

I think most servers use that mechanic where those that are TK'd can type "np" to forgive your team kill. I usually miss the messages for that stuff, though.

I believe that "For King and Country" is only for Medieval 2...not Rome 2. You can get it on steam pretty cheap I think. It doesn't require the expansion but you can play it if you have the expansion. Getting the mods to work on steam is easy but you would never figure it out on your own. If you look at the mod's thread, there should be instructions

i had a bad ass daughter with stewardship of 25, married her to the Spanish King and his rival had her killed - Romero he was called, the Spanish King hated him so who better to invite him to a friendly court across the sea - he then had his throat slit in an alley

Mostly played SPG2 all weekend. Got an hour of EUIV MP in with Metal Dog this afternoon. I started the French liberation of Brittany, where my "allies" Savoy turned turn coat and supported Brittany. Between me and Castile (MD) it was no contest. I took one province from each of them, only to accidentally give Savoie back to Savoy when Bavaria who is the HRE demanded I give imperial territory back. Started thinking of another war against England, but realized they are now allied with Austria. About time I knocked Austria down a few pegs.

Alfred lived to the ripe old age of 91, good news and bad news. It means his heir is 65 and i havent had any real input in his impact on the world, he has sold out to the Queen of England who came to power after a massive civil war and all England broke into individual factions and counties again (yeah, it was formed and a womans in charge!) and shes his liege, his lost apulia but not the claim - hes now inherited all south of england except cornwall, and his son is a mess - sigh - some repairing to do. His italian lands are lost the the Byzantium Empire - without a major power change, theyre not coming back soon - time to concentrate on the English crown, and almost all the Vikings are out of England - they own Scotland and Ireland. Wales is constantly at war with Brittany or Spain
