I'm reading the manuals for Matrix World in Flames, wondering if it might be getting close to the time to take it out for a spin. Probably playing a bit of Majesty 2 as well.
are you reading the calendar at the same time?
I'm sure it Friday somewhere on the planet.
i concede to your wisdom
more importantly its happy hour somewhere.
doo dah island, forget its name now, the one that always gets to celebrate New Years Day first - its 4:30 am there now, so its a while to go yet

Heh. The only way to be the one starting this thread is to get an early jump. Waiting till Friday won't matter ... if it's gone. (to paraphrase another Stones song)
fair dos
has WiF had a major improvement to inspire you with confidence?
I'm going to :smiley6600: that poor girl and see needs help getting out of those wet things.
A new patch recently came out. It has a very long list of improvements, though I'm still waiting for definitive feedback on how much it improves the game. There have been people playing for many months and claiming that the current bugs are pretty minor.
I've been jonesing for serious WW2 action for some time now. I'm torn between..
MWIF: Which would require finding a good, trustworthy opponent (for using teamviewer) and some serious lifestyle disruption to accommodate time for months of live play and changing the desk around to fit the second monitor.
ASL: I'd have to start the monumental task of studying the rules and then begging GJK for a learning game or 2. OK, the second part may not be as monumental.
OCS: I love this system and had a lot of fun playing out a couple (game) months worth of Case Blue with my former regular online opponent. We meshed very well in our gaming, but I can't get so much as the time of day from him anymore. He has health issues but I see him playing games with others on a regular basis, so I have to wonder what I did or said. ??? Anyhow, this would also require finding a good opponent and studying the rules. DAK2 seems like it would be an amazing experience to play through.
The Last Nestorian King (http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=11461.0) this weekend for sure -- not a narrative AAR (unfortunately), because I'm too new to the CK2 system, but hopefully a more interactive one as I'm taking advice from Groggies on how the game works and what I ought to be doing.
The first post mostly explains why I looked for someone like the little island of Socotra, and who that little Emir is supposed to be in historical context (maybe, as for all I know he's a fictional character daubed in for a colorful corner by the Paradox devs); tonight I'll start posting more screenies of the kingdom's situation and what I did in my first moves already.
It's set back at the Charlemagne bookmark, in an odd corner of the map, so it's far from a normal playstart.

Sounds interesting! I will probably be playing some CKCharlemagne too. Maybe I'll be Burgundy. And of course, WitpAE PBEM and some boardgames.
It IS 3:50 a.m. in Sydney, Australia right now. So yes it is technically Friday from about the east coast of China to the International Date Line. O0

were you winning?
I will be trying to figure how to turn Wednesday in to Friday so I can start more of these ;)
Not sure what it will be this weekend. I keep promising To End All Wars and never seem to get to it. I've actually been playing a boatload of Civilization: Revolutions on my Nintendo DS. I might get a MP of Age Of Empires III. And hoping Banzai_Cat doesn't have a house full of people and will be there Sunday morning for our Warlock throwdown.
Just finished a scenario of Age of Wonders III. Now...do I start a new one or do I start up Shadow of Mordor?
For me it will be Legend of Grimrock II and GalCiv III Beta.

Actually, yes. Though it's hard to believe that he would blow me off over that.
He taught me how to play
For the People and we played the hell out of that game for at least a year in Vassal. It takes a lot of skill to play the South well, so after the first few games I took them almost exclusively in the hopes of improving my game. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we played it in the neighborhood of 50 times. In those games, I was the Rebels about 40 times and only won once, primarily due to some amazing luck and a big mistake on his part.
I took part in the tournament at WBC 2013. While I was eliminated in the first round, I did get to play and watch some very good players, as well as observing part of the final game of the best player in the world. We played once more after I got home, and I had a pretty solid victory as the South. He said something along the lines that I outplayed him consistently throughout the game. And that was the last time we faced off.
I did much better at WBC 2014. I think there were about 28 players and I tied for 4th place with the brother of the best player in the world. (I give more details in my WBC thread in the Conventions section)
I should apologize again for starting this thread a day early. I could have sworn that the Friday thread is pretty consistently started early but a quick check confirms that at least the last three were started on Fridays. I could have sworn that I always see it on Thursday or even Wednesday!
No need to apologize Ubercat. I was really just teasing. I think it's great everyone is using songs. Gives a bit of insight into what people like.
Since it looks like my planned hurricane party this weekend is going to be a bust, I'm hoping to get in some CK2 and something else in between surf sessions.

A scenario? You didn't play a sandbox game? ???
Just finished my sandbox game with an Alliance win. 1 human and 3 AI on a large sized world with surface and subterranean levels. I played as the dwarves and allied with the orcs early on. I got into a war with the goblins and slapped them around good. I didn't even meet the 3rd AI player until very late in the game. Some purple elf chick. She offered to make an alliance and I agreed. As I was already allied with the orcs, the game ended on turn 106 with group hugs all around.
Just fired up another scenario with more AI players and me playing as the Draconians this time around. I think I may pick up the hobbit DLC after this play through if I'm still enjoying the game.

lmao - I thought you meant if you have the patience to read the World in Flames manuals, you could probably enjoy reading the calendar! ;D
Wasteland 2: Most of my time will probably spent with this. Just finished up Ag Center. Going around to all the areas there that where previously inaccessible looking for loot then its off to see if there is anything left of Highpool.
Command: Beta testing and starting work on my revised Operation Dreamland scenario.
Distant Worlds: Work on the next part of my AAR that I have been procrastinating on ::)
Crusader Kings 2: Probably play for a few hours. Still not sure what I think of the new DLC. I haven't run into any major bugs but the game play has kind of disappointing. Started a few test games as Charlemagne. Within the first few years of all of them, I was forced to accept elective monarchy by my vassals. I tired fighting a few out, but several of my more powerful dukes and counts where involved and I got ripped apart. Since elective monarchy wasn't even a concept at the time, I find it really annoying, especially since as far as I can see there is no way to avoid it.
Kerbal Space Program and Xenonauts will each probably see a few hours of time as well.

Well - we could maybe start a Netplay session and get som....oh...wait.... :(
Well....we could always be sad sacks and play by ourselves ;D
Congrats on getting a Friday thread started Uber - even if you did bend the rules :P
For me I think this
Combat Mission:Shock Force - continue my German campaign
Combat Mission:Red Thunder - continue my PBEM with Cyrano (if he gets his turn in! :P)
F1 2013 - having practiced the Suzuka Grand Prix, it's time to put in the qualy and race...that will be this weekend. I wasn't too hot at the practice so I'm not hoping for much in the race
DCS Mig-21bis - Gotta get me some more Mig loving. Now I can startup, take off and land (ok - landing is still a bit hit and miss) I should maybe through in some ground pounding.
World in Flames - you've piqued my interest Ubercat. I have fired it up several times and then closed it down. I have watched some tutorial videos and fired it up and then closed it down. There's just so much to take in. Perhaps I should fire a game up and go through the rules and/or video tutorials whilst playing (much like I do when I'm learning a new board game). That seems to suit me best because a) I don't have the patience to sit down and read the manual(s) and b) my short term memory problem makes reading manuals before playing a bit futile. Learning by reading/playing seems to be the way for me now. I never used to be like that - which makes me pretty sad :(
World at War:Blood and Bridges - I should try and complete Turn 1 (having only done 2 impulses at present). There's still a CHAOS chit, 2 End Turn chits, 1 Soviet chit and 2 West German chits to pull.
has anyone tried either the Civil War or Great War mods for Napoleon Total War?
I'll be working and hoping Tuna gets back from his business trip so that he, UCG, and I can continue our game of Pride of Nations. At roughly 10 turns per week, we should be done sometime in early 2018!
I'm hoping to finish off my West Berlin map for FCRS (almost there!) this weekend between working some shifts.
Mostly going to play:
- Omerta: city of Gangsters about to finish the original campaign
- Storm over the Pacific on my way to take China...for good.

aaah, thats why im turnless - im trying to improve the turn around from my end, i think at the weekend we hammered a good 8 or 9 last week
to add to this ive realised my options are much more limited than yours because im not a great power without a sphere of influence. This happens after unification for me which doesnt fire until '58 - i have an awful lot of trading and pissing about in the colonies until then
this and i have a master plan - unify, take East Africa and then attack Britain, i think its the only way to stop them
as for this weekend i shall be mostly dealing narcotics in Elite Dangerous
spreading Armenia across Europe in Rome II
and Gus has switched me on to AOW III - ill be looking at this again
have a great weekend chaps
Hopefully finish my latest game of Warlock on challenging. Medium map with 3 AIs on challenging. I am holding my own but every time I start to make headway the AI players decimate my ranks with firestorm or the death magic equivalent. :tickedoff:
I tried the Napoleon TW Great War mod and to be honest found it unfinished and dull as dishwater. This was right when it was released over a year ago so maybe things have improved since then.
As far as AoWIII I have not tried a sandbox game yet. I understand that's where the real meat of the game is...

That, apparently, is where Teamviewer comes in. As long as you trust your opponent with access to your PC it's supposed to work like a charm.
I'm slowly wading through Englishmen in Decisive Campaigns: WtP Operation Sea Lion. Damn those guys can put up a fight. You'd think this was a soccer match or something. Sorry Brother Brits, I just had to. ;D Also it's finally Fall here in Florida-- you can tell because there's maple leaves in the pool. And Fall always puts me in the mood for Skyrim. I was playing as Burgundy last night. Sure enough, March 769 rolls around and there's a huge uprising about elective monarchy (or something -- I ignored Charlemagne or whoever) suddenly there were armies in the thousands battling it out. Apparently I was on Charlemagne's side, but I just worked to keep red armies out of Burgundy. This was all in the middle of my trying to get married. I just did not have time for crnkypants early medieval crybaby military stunts. Was there really a big elective monarchy thing going on? Wasn't Charles Martel enough to get that all settled?
Ha ha, I'm down on an island by myself off the Horn of Africa, and couldn't care less about the game railroading that storyline at me! :2funny:
It's starting to sound like the best way to play the Charlemagne DLC is not to be anywhere near him. :crazy2:

Sounds like there are more than one "railroading" events if you are.
I would also suspect that if you're one of his neighbors, things aren't going to be all Bacon & Bewbays either.
I played Tomb Raider (the 2013 reboot) a bit last night and really enjoyed the cinematic-like experience.
Finishing up a game review this week/weekend so my time is somewhat limited. Hope to make the Warlock MP game Sunday morning.

Oh boy. Apparently I know little about the Frankish Empire. I have just skimmed Wikipedia. I am enlightened. Not only was Kingship elective, but Charles Martel was never even King. So the game is just being true to the period with all this turmoil. I though I was going to fight Almoravids and Saxons and Lombards, but the average fighting seems to be Frank vs. Frank.
More Age of Wonders 3 and Rome II goodness for me. Both titles are currently hitting my strategy-gaming "sweet spot" in their own way.

Charles never was, but Charlemagne was. What Wikipedia article did you read? I was able to find this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Roman_Emperor
Quote
After Charlemagne was crowned Emperor of the Romans (Latin: Imperator Romanorum) by the Pope, his successors maintained the title until the death of Berengar I of Italy in 924. No pope appointed an emperor again until the coronation of Otto the Great in 962. Under Otto and his successors, much of the former Carolingian kingdom of Eastern Francia fell within the boundaries of the Holy Roman Empire. The various German princes elected one of their peers as King of the Germans, after which he would be crowned as emperor by the Pope. After Charles V's coronation, all succeeding emperors were legally emperors-elect due to the lack of papal coronation, but for all practical purposes they were simply called emperors
From reading that I get the impression it wasn't a elective monarchy until much later. I'll alt-f4 before I accept elective monarchy in the 700's.

Well, not elective in the HRE sense (Thanks, Pope!). But in the Merovingian tribal sense in that the Big Men were expected to have some say in who was King. At least that's what Wikipedia says. sort of. In the game, I run the Elective Kingship faction (as Dux Burgundiourum) and as long as Charlemagne keeps dumping lots of choice vassals my way, he can stay King. If he hits Emperor, then I'm declaring Burgundy as a Kingdom and hope the Pope likes the Big Picture then.

You talking about the doctor in the valve control room?
Make sure you have 2-3 points into lockpicking, safecracking, and the computer science skills. Also don't spend skills points until you really think you need too. I saved most of my skills points until I would come across a lock or terminal I couldn't open, then I would put a point into the necessary skill. i turned several medium/hard obstacles into easy/medium difficulty. Unless you really need the points, wait until your team has low condition to level. When you call in, the team members who are leveling up will get restored to full health.
Conserving ammo by using melee helps as well. I would weaken a target with firearms, then move in and finish it off with melee. Don;t use the expensive 5.56 or 30-06 to kill the exploding pods, use the cheaper and more numerous 38.
I felt no guilt by exploiting the leveling system. First few times I tried I got mauled. So after I cleared the fields, I went back and did the two side air locks in the central complex that I had originally skipped. That was enough to level most of my team, I then went back and cleared the boss room of the bugs. I then used foreknowledge and pre-positioned my team. Melee right next to him, and the rest spread out so they all had a shot at him with limited chance of a friendly fire incident.
It's all about Shadow of Mordor and trying out new board games...unless I succumb and pick up the newest Borderlands...
So far surviving (mostly because no one cares to come get me, and no one nearby seems to have the ships anyway) as the Last Nestorian King in CK Charlemagne this weekend.
Anyone with advice? http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=11461.0
I expect I'm going to spend the next few game years saving up enough money to put in a shipyard and its galleys, so I can pack up troops and send them to fight the Muslim invaders who pushed our kind Nestorians out of Arabia and Syria and Persia etc.

I tried the Great War mod for NTW and the Civil War mod for ETW. Both of them are good although the Great War mod tends to crash for some unexplained reason after a certain number of turns have gone by. How many turns seems to vary with each case reported over at twcenter. For me it crashed in early 1917 but I tried resuming on an autosave and got around the crash.
Civil War is more stable. Never really finished my campaign though so I don't know what happens as you play on.
Both of these mods are well polished but definitely not completely finished products. Most of what's missing though are minor things like the unit description screens, naval unit models, and some place holder graphics on some of the unit cards.

Been a while since I played CK2 and I have none of the DLC. Having said that, it's definitely worth giving it a go. You get really invested in your king and the story that unfolds. All the talk of the new Charlemagne DLC has got me thinking I should fire it up, but I never seem to have enough time.

As others have pointed out, the game is more of a story-generator than a sandbox survival game. There is a tutorial in 2.2. Spain in the 1400s I think. I would start there.
The Charlemagne period might have some nastier surprises than other eras. The Pagan German tribes can suddenly unleash very big forces. Big Chuck the Wise and I, Theodoric of Burgundy, barely got back to Christendom alive after a huge Saxon uprising in, well, Saxony (which is sort of everywhere from Frisia to Bavaria). Thanks to some late-arriving Swabians, Lombards and Bavarians the Saxons were beaten for the 3rd time. I went back to Burgundy to make some choices about gardening since my vassals were complaining about having been in the field for too long. Ya gotta hand it to Chuck, he can deal out some rough early medieval justice -- though even I am surprised how many people I have in my dungeons these days. My half-brother, of course, and a selection of Lombards and Amienians (from Amiens).
Anyway. I would start with the tutorial in version 2.2.
And if you go vanilla instead of Charlemagne, Gus, start in Ireland.
^Right, I've read that before. The Charlemagne era holds that spark for me right now though.
Meng - the '2.2' you mention with the Spanish tutorial - is the game brought up to v2.2 with Charlemagne or some earlier patch?
I've read that The Old Gods DLC and the new Charlemagne pack really transform the game. If so I'd like to get those and not miss out.

I don't know, but if you get OLD Gods and Charlemagne, I think you will get the intro with the tutorial.
Old Gods is pretty much required at this point, isn't it? When it was first released peeps were raving about it but I haven't heard much since. If I got both Old Gods and Charlemagne I would owe it to myself and would have to play through at least one campaign. Hopefully I would enjoy it as much as everyone here. I don't recall one single forumer who ever posted that they didn't enjoy CKII.
I'm in a quandary.
Want to start a new CK2 game and eventually convert it to EU4 after reaching the end date (or nearly so). But if I start in the Charlemagne period, that means it'll take even longer to get to that point. I don't play with time compression up too high most of the time, either. Dunno if I'd ever put that much more time into it. :crazy2:
^That sounds like an evolution of my quandary of just getting started. These games are so huge that it is a really significant time commitment. For that kind of time sink I need to know that it is worth it.
Another quandary I have is when to stop staring at your avatar.

The time involvement is probably the biggest hump. It takes a little bit to get things rolling in any new game and I tend to switch between games quite regularly anyway. By the time I get back around to continuing, there's been new updates that make my save game obsolete. :-[
It's ended that way every time I've begun a new CK2 campaign. Most of my time was put into it back during the closed beta and weekly updates just murdered any prospect of a long game. Timing the sweet spot between updates is the big challenge, now.

Olivia Munn. :smitten:
LOL -->
I started messing around with the game with the Old Gods DLC (and everything else up to that point added in, by the way), and the tutorial campaign is definitely new to Charl. Though I guess also included in the vanilla upgrade, too?
But it has a pretty good tutorial (still there) for the game mechanics without doing the tutorial campaign, too.
If you've ever played a Paradox engine game (whether the Europa engine or Clausewitz), it has obvious similarities (for obvious reasons) but the engine for the original CK was heavily modified to be more of a story generator, and this remake follows suit. As does EU 4 now, for that matter.
Is Charlemagne the best place to start? In relation to other possible starts in CK2, I don't know. I do hear that the events "around" that area, if you take the start that early, are heavily railroaded; this may be addressed in an update sooner or later. I'm enjoying playing the game far away from Europe.
The engine is certainly more elegant and workable than the pseudo-Europa1 engine of Great Invasions, but that's still the only major Dark Ages game fully covering the period -- which this game doesn't really, of course, 769 being about midway through the DA period assuming that 1066 starts the medieval period properly ("Roman" civilization in the West having recovered far enough, though spread through numerous squabbling subcultures, that it wasn't seriously in danger of falling again for a while if ever.)
Would starting at the Old Gods bookmark, about a century later, be a better difference? Having played both, though in quite eclectic places, I'd say they're about the same experience. Tech is generally a little better, but in this kind of game that's mainly an efficiency difference relative to other factions.
I'd say there's no point getting anything less than OG and Charl if you're interested in playing the Dark Age(s); but at this point the major content packs add a lot to the game. So it's probably better to just wait for another comprehensive sale.
With that above Olivia Munn video, Nefaro wins the internet. Frickin' hilarious! Except I am worried that the same will happen to me and The Wife.
Thanks Jason - so...would it be ridiculous to get Charlemagne without The Old Gods? Or more ridiculous to get both? This game is byzantine.
Ba-dum-tish! ;D
Okay I just ran a test, and from what I can tell the basic game includes all factions operating at all dates -- but for the two earliest starting dates you'd have to have OG and Charl. I didn't try loading the game with ONLY Charl and not OG, but I think in practice this would mean you could start way back or at the standard "high middle age" start of 1066, and you wouldn't be able to play any of the Norse factions.
Otherwise the major DLCs unlock the ability to play as one of the faction groups. The Muslims and the Indians are around in vanilla, or in Charl, and will definitely do things, but they aren't available for you to play with directly: you can't start as a Raj or as a Muslim Emir unless you buy that unlock.

You could buy the basic game. The tutorial is Spain in 1066 and see if you like it. When I first started playing the game there weren't many DLC and I've only bought about 1/3 of them.
I've got the basic game - fiddled with it some but not more than a few hours.
But Charlemagne and the Old Gods, because of what Jason describes above with the starting points, interests me more than the base game.
So...I think I will get the Old Gods and Charlemagne, because I am more interested in the earlier start dates. I would love to carry a game over from CKII to EU but I am so far away from that point it isn't even a consideration yet.
Instead I could complete a campaign in Rome 2 - EE, then a campaign in Attila TW (when released) and then start a CKII Charlemagne campaign. Then conceivably transfer that game to EUIV when I cross that bridge :)

My plan is CK Charlemagne (Big Chuck just made me his heir) and then maybe an indefinite hiatus and then Attila. Working back into the past.
Well, I still haven't bought more Borderlands. I HAVE dropped 8 bucks and change for a zombie beat em up called Fist of Jesus. Because how could I not?!
^Did you get the Massive Chalice of Wonder DLC?
I saw Nefaro's movie. What happened to the tits? She married you dumbass (not you Nefaro). And then got old. Same thing happened to the BJ's. I'm through. :-X
You're harshing my mellow, man.

I have a guy on my team at work, about 10 months a go he met a dance teacher and was all loved up. He came to me about 6 weeks ago and asked for a private meeting - sits down all very grave and concerned and I'm worried for the poor guy, then asks me if it's normal for a girl to stop giving blowjobs after a while, feels he's been tricked, and wonders what he's done wrong - fair play to him he went home and asked and they're back on the card but his sad 'i don't know what happened to the blowjobs' face was hilarious

LOL!
'Geek while I can certainly identify with your "friend's" tale of woe, remember we are on the surface forums here. Try to keep it somewhat clean.
Tits are one thing, BJs are starting to plumb the depths.
Pun intended.
no worries, understood
you want me to edit it?
are you going to add pics?
Did you happen to get her number? ;D
lol she drops him off at work everyday - ill ask!
She drives him to work too?!? The only place my wife will drive me to is airport, which she offers to do frequently with the, "One more time" added in. Of course that could have something to do with being married to me.

I will probably be playing some CKCharlemagne too. Maybe I'll be Burgundy. And of course, WitpAE PBEM and some boardgames.
Yeah? So what happened? All went as described, but the kid wanted some ARMA3 and Spintires. So I played some of those too. The child was mildly amused and went back to watching Peppa Pig, who is more entertaining it seems.
No need to edit it. Don't get me wrong I love a good story carrying on the oral tradition as much as the next guy. We're all exposed out in the open up here though, you see.

If you were paranoid, you might think all those signs pointed to her hoping it's your "last" flight. :o
She does try to regularly book me on Malasian Airways flights for some reason. But it works out for me. She has me covered with plenty of Life Insurance and keeps it paid on time.
Some guy told me a couple of terrible Malaysian Airlines jokes the other day. The first one got no response and the second one was shot down in flames.

where is it?
Good one Cat. O0
Alright so I just lost my first game of AoWIII...all of my cities started to rebel and as they did other factions came along and snatched them up. My city unhappiness seemed to come from nowhere. Anyone got any tips on how to keep your cities and thus your empire happy? I thought I was doing alright...I had 7 cities IIRC. But then the sudden collapse. What's the best way to keep AoW III cities happy?
Did someone hit you with a spell that caused the unhappiness? I think there are a few like that
That's what I thought too but I didn't get any notification...can that happen without some kind of notice?
If you click on the city a second time, so that you're looking at production, you'll also see any spells onthe city. Dissolution is one that will make troops revolt.
Thanks Tuna...it must have been a spell because formerly happy cities all dropped to near -500 in happiness in only one turn.
Gus, Your policy of flogging until morale improves is clearly not working. ;D
I had almost won the scenario too! Was producing a good amount of gold, had multiple armies with respectable units and then suddenly WHAM - everyone revolts. While I think it had to be some kind of spell I am hoping it wasn't something I did.
-500 is a pretty big hit.
I'm not sure if there's any one thing you could do for such a large penalty in one go. It would have to be something like losing a few cities at once, I'd imagine.
In my Dorf game, I have approximately eight or nine cities, have steamrolled one opponent into oblivion, and only lost a couple battles out of very very many. Yet most of my cities' happiness is still at or a bit below 500 Happiness (my capital may be around 799 IIRC). A -500 hit would be a big deal even when steamrolling. :o Must've been a spell (temporary one?).
I had 7 cities total and then 4 plummeted in happiness simultaneously. There was very little I could do. I even tried to raze cities and then rebuild but hat just led to empire wide chaos and more unhappiness. Within 10 turns I was dead. Another oddity is that I was not at war with anyone. I had made peace with my one enemy several turns before. So...can spells like that be set without a declaration of war?
This weekend I'll be playing a little Commander Europe at War: Grand Strategy 3.00
Sweet axes, Ian! Do you boogie with Stu?
Stuuuuuuuu :)

I want to say they can, since it's not technically considered a "destructive" spell ::) Unfortunately, I don't remember offhand how to counter it (although I know there has to be one).
Can the known universe accommodate 2 active Friday threads.... isn't this like what they thought would happen when the LHC got switched on

What I did to remedy the situation was move any troops just outside the city boundaries.. their Morale rose right back up to normal. Also they were close enough so that if some enemy or independents moved in to attack the City, I was able to move in quickly to counterattack.
FYI if you kill or beat the enemy that threw the spell, the spell will then disappear. I think there is a counter spell, but I was not able to find it. I think there's a protection spell (which I did research), but you have to apply it before the enemy throws the bad one.
moved to the new Friday thread
The AI was relentless with this spell (if that's what it was). After rebelling, the AI faction that made peace with me would move in, put down the rebellion and seize the city for itself. This happened twice before I was snuffed out. Is the AI that good in AoWIII?

Another thing it can be, is the species might not 'like' the terrain.. You can hold the mouse over the species Icon and it will say what type it likes. It will also tell you whether the unit is unhappy or not.
You can either move them out of the 'bad' terrain, or acquire some spells to terraform the land to how they like it. IF you have a mixed army that might pose a problem. You can hold the mouse over the terrain and it will tell you the land type as well.
^That was it! Terrain modifiers. Damn that sucked. Credit to the AI for jumping all over me at a time of weakness, though.
So now - a new AoWIII game or dive into Shadow of Mordor...
