The weekend is here! And not a minute too soon!! The gaming this weekend will be a mix of Age of Wonders III, solo and MP, Skyrim and Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes.
For me it will be more Farcry 2, Allied Corps and King's Bounty Armored Princess (mindless fun but I am hooked after a few hours of playtime).
Catching up on my PBEM's that were left hanging for vacation.
Updating the AMBUSH! play by forum.
Shovelling snow..... :tickedoff:
Maybe Warlock MP on Sunday.
Fallout: Tactics and Fallout: New Vegas.
Wasteland II
War Thunder
Might and Magic X
Based on my soviet plan of gaming :knuppel2: i would like to play:
- Omerta: the japanese incentive...maybe, maybe will i be able to finish the story.
- New game in the plan: Wordshift.
And pbems: Armada 2526 Supernova
Going to set up and play a solitaire game of
Labyrinth: The Global War on Terror (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/62227/labyrinth-war-terror-2001).
My fiance has also agreed to play
Sharks and Jets (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/22083/sharks-and-jets):

She'll be dancing and fighting in pantomime and I will be playing ASL. This is really quite brilliantly written "total conversion" of
ASL(SK1).

I might possibly play some FarCry3. Definitely some CMFI, WitpAE and boardgames with maybe some DCS and ARMAIII.
CMANO
SPMBT
I owe Doug turns in DC:CB and our new game of OF:RS...I don't know why I'm fussing about my strategy in the latter...I am the Soviets after all...
Demo'ing Slapshot for Columbia Games at a local game convention over the weekend. Bringing the boy along just in case no one wants to play...he loves the game.
Really want to set up a boardgame. For reasons that evade me I want to try and finally learn "Here I Stand"...don't ask, don't know.
Oooh, and looky, turns from Vance are in prospect :).
@bboyer: Glad to see someone else is digging into M&MX. I have just under 100 hours in having beaten the main campaign and the expansion. It's certainly an "it is what it is" title, but I loved it while it lasted.
Best,
Jim
"Cyrano"
:/7)
War Thunder and some
Rise Of Flight Multi-player.
Various stuff to set up on the table.
If only I could figure out how to squeeze more gaming hours out of the day. Travel right up to the speed of light while doing so? Or get one of these..
What's the point? I mean - seriously? I never stick to what I say.
Fleet Commander:Nimitz
Assetto Corsa
F1 2013
Elite:Dangerous <- again - wtf is the point :D
That is all.
Took today off from work. Going to spend part of the day doing some Command scenario work done and doing some flying in FSX, or possibly make the transition to Prepar3D. Tonight going out drinking with some friends for my birthday.
With the hangover I plan on giving myself tonight won't be any serious gaming tomorrow. More sim flying and possibly some Dragon Age Inquisition.
Sunday will be spent watching AFC and NFC title games. I'll probably squeeze some gaming in but what I play will depend on what mood I'm in after the Pack vs Hawks game.
Happy birthday Kushan
20 again eh? :D
The plan is to play some Warlords III: Darklords Rising, WitP:AE (Guadalcanal scenario), and WoW... maybe a little Battle Academy 2.

Happy Birthday Kushan!
It's going to be a weekend of Making History:The Great War, The Khartoum & Zulu mod for NTW...and I'm going to figure out which American Civil War mod to download and install for one of the Total War games.
!!STILL NO NEW GAMES BOUGHT THIS WEEK!!
Ahem.
Pretty soon I'll be finished posting Season 1 of my PanzOrc Corpz AAR (the first half of Fantasy Wars), and I'm thinking of setting up a (non-narrative) collaborative AAR looking for how to solve the puzzle of surviving (maybe even winning?) World War 1 as Russia in Darkest Hour.
If I do get that going this week, I'll post back here with a link.
Skyrim as a sneaky Bowman. Should fit perfectly after seeing American Sniper tonight. ^-^
Happy b-day Kushan!

Back to playing for the weekend, it occurs to me I should add that I've been playing that Empire 4X iPhone game quite a bit this week, and may continue doing so over the weekend. As a MoM game it's incredibly light, but I find its frantic oncoming doom design compelling. This is a game where throwing a party for having survived the end of the world a little longer is a legitimately important option: you're going to die, but how much style / fun / honor can your people accrue before the end? As I wrote earlier, even though the game isn't entirely Norse it drips Ragnarok: good is going to uselessly die, but we're going down punching evil in the face anyway for personal honor because that's all we've got left while we live.
Happy b-day Kushan!
I find I'm back on a modern warfare kick, which hopefully will segue nicely into CM: Black Sea being released soon.
For this weekend PBEM turns of DC: Case Blue and FPC:RS with Cyrano, and HPS Renaissance, JTS Bonaparte's Peninsular War and Campaign Liepzig with other opponents.
Solo I'm going to advance my campaign in Mechs and Mercs. I'll probably spend most of my time with JTS Mideast '67 since I've become obsessed with the Arab-Israeli Wars and am reading a book about the Battle for the Golan in '73.
I'll probably finish punching counters for All is Lost Save Honour, which I've been dinking with far too long.
Happy birthday, Kushan!

I hope to play more
Strategic Command II Pacific this weekend. As usual, not sure what else.
Happy Birthday, Kushan!
brainstorming design ideas http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=12404
Heh, definitely last year. I have a backlog of iPhone games, too. (Frontline Moscow, and Elder Sign, and Warhammer Quest, among them.) Empire was one I had gotten long ago (late last summer?) and never played; I also learned Le Havre (finally) a couple of weeks ago, and It's Alive. Currently on my phone but almost entirely unplayed are Knizia's Kingdoms and Vaccarino's Kingdom Builder. (I've been doing some Caylus, too -- all three are quite different of course, but I haven't been able to get into the other two yet.)
Crap, I keep forgetting to say, Happy Birthday Kushan! O0
Happy Birthday to Kushan! Jason I have taken the no new games pledge for the entire year and so far have no bought any new games. This Weekend I will be playing Ultima VII from my GOG backlog. I have also made a major effort this week to learn War in the East. I purchased the game at release and have barely played it. I am determined to master it before returning to WITW which I believe needs a few more patches to work out the kinks before I tackle it again. I also might do some small scenario's in France '14 which I am also learning how to play.
Morrowind and CK2 FTW! 8)

Morrowind
As soon as the open source version of the engine is a bit more complete I'm going to be all over this. I'm dying to play Morrowind again, it really is a masterpiece.
^ You really should take a look at the Morrowind Complete Overhaul project. Check some Youtube videos. The graphics are perfectly workable even now with the Overhaul. No, it's not Skyrim, but it's not eye-bleeding, either.
No need to wait...the water's fine! :P
I want to play on Linux though, that's why I need the open source version.
Even though no one would know unless I admitted it, I don't want to be dishonest about keeping the no games pledge, so I shall acknowledge that I did buy Warlock 2 the Warlockying (and most of its DLC) last night while it was 75% off.
But I only did it in order to bring Battlefleet Gothic into existence this year. (Long story.) I feel reasonably safe about not buying it this year, though, because we all know it will release as Early Access first. ::) And I'm pretty sure I can resist that. :smitten:
Back to the no games pledge.
No way. 17 days in? >:(
I suppose I can admit that that's pretty good going for anyone on these boards...but still disappointed
By the way - for some reason I thought it was mirth doing the no new games pledge...unless he also is
I think he showed amazing fortitude in maing it an entire 17 days!
Elite - i have drugs and slaves to deal
PBEMing with Tuna and SDR - there are handbags to be made
Happy Birthday, Kushan
I just lost my throne city to Leana the Huntress. I still have armies in the field, including my ruler, but, she just has way too damn much STUFF for me to overcome. I dilly dallied while she gobbled up neighbors. So I gave up. Time to start another one. Maybe a Dwarf or an Orc this time.
aow III?
Yes. Started a new one as a female Orc Warlord. I am going to do my utmost to play an evil game this time.
Mirth took the No Crazy Women pledge and failed by 1/2.
Playing some Rift for the first time. I'm really enjoying it a lot.

So far:
Age of Wonders III
Space Empires IV

Victory at Sea

Space Empires IV
One wonders how you had time to play anything else! ;)
Age of wonders III. For no less than nine hours today. Took an Orc Warlord. I started with six opponents. I wiped out one and the AI got one. I have twenty cities and own about half the board above ground. Found two entrances to the Underground, but, haven't stepped foot in there yet. Figure I'll finish the sunlit lands before I take on perpetual dark.
A couple of Canada-wide math trades just closed, so I'll be playing the 'I have 14 goddamn boxes to pack up and get ready to go' game. And I'll probably play some Battlefield 4, and perhaps get back into Far Cry 4.
I think it was a bit longer than 17 days -- don't recall exactly, but I don't think I bought anything after Christmas, or before it either for a little while. Certainly not a full month, I'm not a saint. >:D
Thanks guys. Didn't drink as much as I expected too but being the light weight I am the two whiskey on the rocks I had did the trick.
Haven't done any real gaming either. I got Prepar3D set up and with the help of some members of the Command community I got the French Air Force OOB done. All I have left is to get the RAF sorted and I should be able to start doing real work in game.
Did a few FSX flights Friday.. and then played a ton of the New CIV Beyond Earth the rest of the weekend.
I probably should've jumped into the War Thunder action :-(
I just can't get into Fallout: New Vegas...not sure why. Played for about 90 minutes yesterday and got bored. Played through the tutorials for Fallout:Tactics today though and love it. Go figure.

I never got into Vegas or Skyrim... Even though I played many hours Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Maybe the genre just got 'old' for me.

I've been going through an ARMA 3 kick. Set up some sandbox scenarios to test out some ideas and toys. Played around a lot with drones which is something I never payed much attention to in game. However, DicedT's recent thread got me interested. Very cool stuff. Did some recon flights in helicopters around the larger map to get aquatinted with the terrain and ran some helo assault missions that I made on planned assault.com.
Of course, I still played some Elite and found time for a bit of mechs & mercs too. Brutally difficult game, but still has me coming back for more.
I loved the Fallout 3 in DC. I think maybe the setting of New Vegas is kind of played out for me. Can't believe that Fallout: Tactics is 15 years old.
My old mouse from back in my WinXPsp2 days finally died this weekend, so that minimized my PC gaming a lot. But I finished Season 1 of my PanzOrc Generals AAR, and made preparations to start my Darkest Hour Russia "AAR" advisory AAR (where the first "AAR" stands for the mod, running from World War 1 up to 1990 I think. Eventually the modder wants to get a campaign from 1900 to 2020, but he has a long way to go on that yet.)
So far as gaming itself, on the PS3 I finished a Fight Night Champion campaign from last summer, but my fighter took too much damage in the final fights and had to retire a few fights short of getting the title of "The Greatest Ever". I think I know what I could have done better with his build, and I may start a new career this week to test that out.
On the iPhone, I spent a surprising amount of time yesterday (Saturday) playing one game of Rivals of Catan, possibly because this is the first time I've tried the "Duel of Princes" mode with (all auxilliary decks) -- for those who don't know, the game is very much not like Catan ;) , but it's a good two-player non-combat medieval card game. I doubt I'm going to win this one, but I'm hanging in.
Going to try out Battle Academy 2 - Eastern Front tomorrow.

Didn't play as much as i wanted....
Some misisons of Glory of the Roman Empire and about 1/3 of an Omerta chapter... :'(
Will do Bart. Some Fallout: Tactics and then on to BA2 this afternoon.

I still call peoples' SUVs by their true minivan moniker. Usually gets a rise. >:D

Didn't even know normal minivans are still being sold. I rarely see them anymore. Just the taller ones. :P
No onboard vacuum? What's the point of getting the Odyssey then?
Now I'm sorry I didn't start playing Battle Academy 2 sooner. This should keep me occupied for the next few, freezing cold weeks...comrades :D

I'll pick it up eventually if that's the case.
There is a skirmish mode. Haven't tried it yet so I don't know how random it is :)

I think that's the random one.. ? Not sure if the map is too or just the forces. I'm really in the dark about it other than that it has some kind of randomized option(s).
I would like to try out playing as the Germans...I hope that's possible in skirmish.
BA2 is very addicitive. Even exhausted at the end of a work day I still played for two hours tonight. Won my first campaign mission.

And proceeded on to the next. I like the combat modeling a lot. Something about it makes engagements nerve wracking and tense. This is an exciting game. Armored combat is very fun too. IIRC there is a Kursk campaign...that should be fun. First I must hold Moscow.

Damn. Moscow's going to need a new paint job and a shit-load of screen doors. But congrats Comrade Gusinovich. How's the AI in this game?
I'm playing on regular difficulty. The AI seemed relatively competent, but it may not fully understand ambush points and that infantry, not armor, is absolutely necessary to take a city. In that first scenario the AI threw a lot of tanks my way and almost snuffed me out. A quick moving armored column of my own and some dug in infantry with AT weapons saved my butt.
Cool. Are the buildings and other infrastructure destructible?
