Snuff TV does not equal good Drama. It's one thing to watch a dead zombies' head turn to mush but to do it too a living human being that was a beloved character is far too much over the line. Then the whole thing about. "look, he's trying to talk" was beyond sadistic. If they were trying "sell' the bad guy it was a complete fail--he's actually hard to dislike---a complete miscast. It would have been better to go with an unknown actor. Then there's honest writing. That's a huge issue that has been plaquing the series for 2 seasons. You get these "cliff-hangars" that are rather dishonest----and a huge one tied to Glenn to boot- didn't we already mourn him in one? And wasn't that last one containing the line, "If anyone moves take the kid's second eye and feed it to his dad." Well someone moved....and it was all forgotten--I quess we're really kill Glenn to have....less effect? Nah, let's force the audience to watch it for more impact now!

It really didn't. It was more like watching Hostel-- and it's not so much being removed from the character from a dishonest cliffhanger but moreso being removed from the writing the series enjoyed when Frank Darabont was at the helm...and by the way also co-wrote 4 of the first seasons 6 episodes. AMC excecs cut the budget-when you add in the tax credits they now kept with the cuts at 25 percent-forces Darabont out and they bring in the lady hung up on shock and cliffhangers--the writing be damned.

Unlike HBO-who has consistantly upped the budget on their runaway hit Game of Thrones AMC cuts it's 3.4 mil down 25 percent (per episode) - and it certainly shows. It restricts the writers in what they can do when the producers are mere yes men to the execs--who want to cash in rather than grease the hand that feeds them.

They'll drag it out too--moreso than the Governor--until Rick finds a way to defeat Negan. Which..BTW...even by those that don't read the comic -- is a pretty good obvious quess.

Yeah, sorry but I'm squarely in the "if you don't like it, don't watch it" camp. I don't think they could have done a better casting job than Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I think he's going to be a classic bad guy, the dude owns the part. And in the comics, Negan was very charismatic. As for the gore, this is The Walking Dead. I saw a list last week where they compared ten scenes in the comics to the show and the comics were more explicit in every way. TWD is hitting it's stride. I still expect some wasted episodes where nothing happens, because they just can't help themselves. But there's a reason why this show is so damn popular and why we were all waiting for Negan. I'm more concerned about where the show goes in a season or two when Negan is finally done in by Rick....because you know it's gonna happen.

My youngest son doesn't watch it either, but he let me talk him into watching the last 15 minutes of last season's cliffhanger just because he knew I was so wowed over JDM's performance. My son was so blown away that he caught last night's premier simply to watch Negan. He doesn't know shit about the show or the cast, he just wanted to see where the writers took Negan.

Yeah, my boy (30) worries me sometimes, but he's a good kid. Really   :knuppel2:

No Starfury...my ability to 'read'. Google it...or if your too lazy...and we know you are---I'll link a couple of stories:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/walking-dead-creator-frank-darabonts-852491 - on darabont's diplosition

Darabont says, "I remember Joel Stillerman [president of original programming and development for AMC], in a meeting in my office, when we were all discussing the issues of the upcoming season, we said to him, 'Surely that the success of the show, which, by the way, you guys are bragging about because we keep getting e-mails saying, 'Hey, we're breaking viewership records in 120 countries around the world by hundreds of percent, in some countries by over 1,000%,' at the same time we're hearing how successful the show is for you, you're telling us that this, this budget issue is not going to budge at all. And he said, 'The success of the show has no bearing on this discussion,' in a rather icy manner."

According to Darabont, AMC cut the budget "from 3.4 to 3," referring to the millions it takes to produce episodes of Walking Dead.

"That was bad enough, but then they dropped the bomb on us that, oh by the way, they're keeping the tax credit," he testified. "They're going to pocket the tax credit. So, between the two you've got a full 25% cut across the board."

http://www.forbes.com/sites/hayleycuccinello/2016/04/22/game-of-thrones-season-6-costs-10-million-per-episode-has-biggest-battle-scene-ever/#773922404b22 on HBO's budget

The upcoming season of HBO series Game of Thrones has a production budget of $10 million per episode, according to Entertainment Weekly. This means that season six, which premieres on April 24, cost approximately $100 million to produce. This is a $4 million increase from the reported budget of $6 million for season two; how paltry.

http://www.gq.com/story/the-walking-dead-season-7-premiere-recap -- and here's some interesting thoughts on season 7 episode 1

Part of the problem with the premiere is structural. The mistakes begin with the long-awaited solution to the cliffhanger, which seems even more misguided now that the solution has been revealed. (At the very least, The Walking Dead could have ended its sixth season by clearly depicting the death of Abraham, which would have been significantly less anticlimactic and might have tricked fans into believing that Glenn was safe after all.) The baseball-bat executions—which, due to an inexplicable story structure, don't actually begin until 20 minutes into the episode—are extraordinarily grotesque but also kind of what you've been expecting, since Glenn's death is basically a shot-for-shot adaptation of a thing that happened in the comics in 2012. And the promo campaign for the seventh season did the TV show no favors with the obnoxious, relentless hype for Negan and his signature baseball bat, which treated a character's death like the title bout of a boxing match. Were we supposed to be excited about the prospect of watching one of the show's most likable characters get beaten to death by a baseball bat covered in barbed wire? If so, The Walking Dead certainly goes out of its way to rub our noses in our collective enthusiasm for the bloodsport it created.

Why doesn't this work? By way of comparison, let's talk about Game of Thrones' Red Wedding—another highly anticipated, exceptionally bloody episode of television in which several major characters were killed off at once, with the added pressure of sky-high fan expectations. But the Red Wedding wasn't split down the middle between one season's finale and the next season's premiere. It wasn't hyped so aggressively that it lost its sense of suspense. And in the end, the Red Wedding had a massive impact on the show itself. It wasn't just the deaths of characters we knew and loved; it was a full-blown shakeup of the show's political climate, upending power structures with implications that are still playing out three seasons later.

"I'll say this for Jeffrey Dean Morgan's performance: It's not boring. That doesn't make it good—since we've only seen Morgan deliver corny, expletive-laden monologues so far, it's hard to judge what else he might do with this role—but it's a welcome burst of color in a series that tends to paint the world in the same dull grays."

For a show that just killed off two major characters, this was a brief, by-the-numbers episode that told us absolutely nothing new about our heroes or our villains, and set no clear arc to build anticipation for the rest of the season.

Over the months since the season 6 finale aired, this Negan cliffhanger has transformed into an albatross around the show's neck. Short of Negan killing every single character, turning to the camera, and flipping the audience the bird, it was basically impossible for the premiere to live up to its self-generated hype—

I'm not alone in my dislike for the episode. View Amazon's reviews--at least half...if not more are along the same lines--many claiming they are done watching it.

Title: Re: The Walking Dead...
Post by: ghostryder on October 25, 2016, 01:11:10 PM
No...the last 3 seasons have steadily declined with jump around time lines to cliff hangers---and bad writing - contrary to how the comics tell the story. This episode actually portrays the scene in the comic...the problem here is THIS IS NOT AN ANIMATED COMIC SERIES--they use real live people. You cannot equate comic violence with this---many viewers aren't even aware this is derived from a comic. Once you step up the realism to actual people a whole new set of lines get drawn. Gore doesn't really bother me to be honest--but the selling of Gore does---and that's what the entire episode was about--that's what the hype focused on--as for the character themselves they were reduced to props.

Seriously, I go back to "if you don't like the show, don't watch it" thought. I've never seen a show, no matter how well received or even loved, that didn't attract some Amazon whiners or self-indulgent reviewers aka thehollywoodreporter.com who create nothing but fill their lives trying to trash what someone else has been successful at creating. Anyone can be a critic, but how many critics have ever created something other's loved and flocked to? And if you really dig into Amazon ratings, look at the number of one-star reviews that have nothing to do with the show whatsoever but rather complain about Amazon instead.

And Darabont? Has it come to anyone's attention that the show has become more successful since he left? Hell, name a show that makes the top ten or twenty all-time lists, including The Wire, Madmen or The Sopranos and there's always someone out there who has something nasty to say or thinks their writing a blog or posting a "review" on Amazon makes them an expert. And all the people who say they will never watch TWD again? Yeah. Never heard that one before.

heres the deal sunshine....  producers always complain about the money they get.  the fact is that at this point the show isnt as expensive to make as it first was.
the make-up dept is a well oiled machine that can now churn out practical effects.
CGI is as cheap as its ever been.
filming locations in Georgia are easy to come by and cheap.
Georgia has huge tax incentives for film/tv production.

your ability to read and understand is only matched by your animation skills.
so keep reading and I'll keep talking to people I know in the industry that actually work on the show and in the field.
btw, I have IMDB credits, do you?

You might have more credibility if you didn't have something negative to say about virtually every subject you post on. I could easily start a thread with every post you've made that was negative and not run out of material any time soon. And if you take offense at my very general "if you don't like it, don't watch" it doesn't negate the validity of good advice.

Oh absolutely - it certainly added to the "badass"ness of Negan - but I'm still pretty sure battering a head to a pulp of a fav character was enough.

I just don't like that kind of violence. It's a bit raw and a bit too real for me.

That's what I meant, not that it enhanced his badassness but that he could have stopped after a certain number of hits but carried on - the show wants you to hate him, I don't need leading by the nose but I think if they'd just shown Glenn getting hit, and Maggie screaming for example and then cutting away, you would never have had that feeling of menace and hatred

I'm certainly no director or scene editor but I think when everyone drove off and it showed the survivors just sat there, totally drained and exhausted having just witnessed it all, I think we were supposed to feel the same, drained and 'thank fk that's all over' and I don't think that would have happened without the disturbing scenes

I think it's the job of the actors to convey that...not the prop team. For me at least-we know the actors are working off the script. The director speaks to the scene and what he wants it to convey. By going over the line it's almost an insult to the actors--it's like they're saying--"you lack the ability so we're do it for you". And for some going over the line spoiled the intent- it offended instead- and angered others. Keep in mind also this is Public Television-and the show pushes the line--but if you abuse that privledge the Pendalem may swing back against you from the political powers to be in the FCC--which I'm sure will be flooded by complaints on the episisode.

At least we are now talking on the merits of the argument here---but for me a lot of that was totally too much. It didn't make me hate Negan-It made me hate those on the show that decided to this--to advertise it like they did- to glorify it like they did while at the same time making no effort in the writing to move a story arch or expand a character--which is exactly why my 86 year old mother watches it. For her-she hates the gore and zombies-but the Charactors  and Drama compells her to watch the show for that. She completely turned it off now.

^ I think you've spelled that out well

I definitely "felt" for Negan as UCG says - I wanted Rick to end him.

Having said that, I'm pretty sure I could've got there without the real gore. I seriously considered not watching anymore. The content was just over the hill for me.

Can definitely see both sides

I'm guessing it has a lot to do with psychology too - the episode apart from hating negan didn't touch me at all, whereas the kid from 6, the son of ricks blond girlfriend wannabe who got eaten while they were dressed as zombies did give me pause for thought

"Did it not serve to make us hate negan all the more?

I know it made me want Rick to stab his face off"

When Robert De Niro did the remake of Cape Fear there was no need to show you in great detail the violence to sell you the character he played. His acting knocked it out of the park. It just doesn't sell me as an excuse. They got the wrong actor if they 'needed' to do that.

Im annoyed that they skipped over what could have been a full season of story to get where the show is now.
not only that  but, if anything, they downplayed the scenes violence from the comic.

they are the show with a few changes here and there and some parts that have gotten completely skipped over.
Sundays episode was roughly issue #100 from the spring of 2015.

No. she wasn't a prostitute--she worked with the husband and was a family friend---though it was hinted she may have had a fling with the husband. Deniro charms her-she cuffs her hands behind her back--and he breaks her arm then rapes her---but besides a facial shot while he breaks her arm--nothing else is displayed and the scene ends when she screams.

A few changes here and there? Are you kidding? There are drastic differences. For one--no one had to wait during an 8 month long cliffhanger to see if Glenn dies...the comics tell the story in a far more linear and packaged deal. There's not all timeline jump back and forth and so on---as seen in this episode (and used a rediculous amount in season 6) where you got a 20 minute ride with rick and Negan before it jumps back in time to show us the finish to the cliffhangar.

Secondly the Characters are different--some by a great degree-while others don't exist at all in the comic. Carol is no Bad ass in the comic--here TV character is totally different. Beth doesn't exist in the comics- Herschel has quite a few kids—Maggie, but also Shawn, Billy, Lacey, Rachel and Susie. All but Maggie are killed in one way or another by the time the group leaves the prison, along with Herschel himself. The TV show let Herchel live another season longer and he only has Maggie and Beth as children.  Tyreese is another one totally unlike what you see on the show. In the comics, Tyreese plays a bigger role earlier on, being one of the first members to join the Grimes Gang. He becomes almost a co-leader with Rick, a right-hand-man who shares characteristics of both Daryl and pre-psychosis Shane in the TV series. He's an amorous character, striking up a relationship with Carol before cheating on her with a just-arrived Michonne.  After Carol kills herself and his daughter commits suicide, Tyreese hardens his heart in the war against the Governor, before being captured. He's killed as one of the Governor's most prominent victims, beheaded in front of the prison in the same manner as Herschel on the TV show.

Morgan is another one. He does play the important role of being the first person Rick meets in the post-apocalypse, and he does eventually rejoin the Grimes Gang in the comic, but he's a much more meek, background character who never truly amounts to a terrible lot of significance. The whole philosophical, stick-wielding warrior monk/aikido enthusiast role is purely a product of the television show.

It's not just how the characters are written and portrayed--but in the comic Rick loses his hand to the Governor-- the "wolves" do not exist in the comic and Judith dies with lori at the prison in the comic. Andrea's character is completely shafted by the TV series. In the comic she's the most level head badass of the bunch--She progresses through various relationships, always keeps a good head on her shoulders and eventually realizes that she and Rick are destined to be together because they share the will to never stop fighting. That, and she gets an amazing hat and poncho like a female version of Clint Eastwood's Man with No Name. In the TV show, on the other hand, Andrea's wishy washy personality made her instantly disliked by the fans, while her more appealing qualities were slowly and subtly grafted onto another character: Michonne.

Abraham was shown as an oddball on the show while in the comic he's businesslike and down to earth. Denise, Unlike in the series, she's not shown to be gay—her boyfriend is fellow Alexandrian Heath, rather than TV show character Tara—and she doesn't really have many scenes with the survivors. Other differences is Carol's daughter doesn't exist on the show but does, and never dies in the comics--but is adopted by Maggie and Glenn.

I could go on--but generally this is two different beasts altogether.

if they followed the comics strictly there would be no suspense as the story is already know.

now what I would like to see it a HBO series take on World War Z.  1 hour episode for each chapter and you've got 2 years of money making tv.

I'm just burned out on it at this point.  It's not that they have to keep ramping up the gore to out-do whatever they did last week.  It's that they have to keep outdoing the hopelessness.  I got it - the world sucks, no one should really be surviving, we're all just walking bags of zombie-steak, and everyone should just go jump off a bridge now and get it over with.  There's never really been anything that's ever gotten "better" in 7 seasons, so at this point I just don't give even half a fuck who dies next, or how, or why, or anything...

its very faithful to how the comic was drawn.

Reading a comic is akin to reading a storyboard. To view one image in one is very different for the main reason unless you linger at it for several minutes it's nowhere the same as the camera lingering on it. In the comic you can determine how long you take to get to the next scene--but with the show your a prisoner to the camera---and the camera just 'lingers' on it. That's the difference-and that's why you cannot really compare the two--aside from the fact one's a comic image and one's with real people. I seriously doubt anyone stared at the image for more than a few moments---let alone 5 minutes-8 minutes-or the length of time spent on Negan bashing a head. It is really apples and Oranges so to keep bringing that up as an excuse is about as weak as an excuse can get.

This is why I am not interested in any of these post-apocalypse shows. Too much drama and not enough focus on the Apocalypse. It killed me about BSG. If there are only 50,000 humans left in the universe, you're not going to spend much time debating the due rights process for the cyborgs that destroyed your civilization. Same thing with Walking Dead. Things are really that shitty, Negan doesn't seem like such a bad guy all of a sudden.

Title: Re: The Walking Dead...
Post by: ghostryder on December 09, 2016, 08:08:52 AM
The show to me is better when it veers from the comic. The sad truth is there's a lot of awful and goofy in the comic. Hell Kirkland's original idea before it was nuked out was to have the zoombies come from outer space. And sadly when it comes to Neegan they stuck with the comic. If it ends the same way we're stuck with the guy for a very long time.

Firstly as much as I enjoy the actor he's miscast here. Never once did I think Rick would have a problem taking him out-and was amazed that didn't happen on their first ride. Secondly like the comic Neegan's just a comic book villian. No depth. No Nuance. Just Evil and one demensional--very unlike the governor- where you saw a human under neath and saw what drove them--Neegan has none of those qualities. He's evil to be evil and he's simply there as the evil element-no matter how silly and unbelievable the setup..Harem of wives and everybody mindlessly submits, a point system group so unattractive one cannot for a second believe such a setup would attract so many and grow so large.

Lastly it's just dragging. This is the slowest most boring season yet--it's quickly earned the season of wussies and pansies and it's carried so far I no longer care who they kill next. It's been a snoozefest and the last episode was just dumb.

I'm not going to be as critical as gr here but it's the series I've enjoyed the least so far

On the other hand I've watched all the others pretty much back to back over a series of a few nights this is the only one I've had to watch week by week, so it could be that

But I have to admit neegan is beginning to annoy me - there's only so many lean back, cheesy beam, say.every.word.like.a.sentence I can manage

And then again, sat on my porch holding my daughter I'd vow to burn him very slowly, very very slowly

So there's that

Neegan has been pretty boring and not quite believable for me.  I'm hoping that his only redeeming character is that he kills Carl.  This season seems to be going off in different directions, which I guess is good for some character development, but it's been a little slow on action.  I'm sticking with it, but I sure hope the plot picks up soon and that they bring all back together at the end of the season.

Well looks like Rick discovered he still has a pecker this episode. Why carl is still standing is beyond me. And then daryl off's another one garanteeing negan will want his pound of flesh. Am i the the only one who thought "WTF Daryl!" in the season opener? This guy likes doing dumb shit to get other people killed. But on the posative side the episode has left some hope of the 2nd part of the season--being a cord cutter (haven't had cable in years) I prebuy my season on Amazon and I've really been regretting that purchase thus far but the 2nd half might save it---if for once they don't stick to the comic--which this episode pretty much did. I'd like the closing of the Chapter of negan to be assured- we don't need any returns.

Negan is going to be around for a while. If that extremely weak attempt on his life in the last episode didn't show that, nothing will. Which is ok with me because he's got some great lines. A little comic relief goes a long way here.

Title: Re: The Walking Dead...
Post by: ghostryder on December 14, 2016, 08:00:12 AM
Yeah carol's character turn is the most jarring. Now she's just a selfish old lady in a cabin. This really is where the plot gets weak. Having watched episode after pointless episode of wasted space we get this mid-season closer with so much condensed story it was so many epic moments lost. They did hardly anything with Daryl's escape--oh i'll just run past the guards! His escape could have filled a whole episode.  I thought the sinking through zombie lake was a touch of brilliance--it's amazing that after 7 seasons they can come up with new ways to present zombie danger--but every other story branch was so condensed so much more was lost. Probably the weakest was killing off some bottom tier cast members to give Rick and everyone now a reason to fight a bit of cheapness.
Title: Re: The Walking Dead...
Post by: Ubercat on December 14, 2016, 10:52:40 AM
Carol's been through a lot. Killing all those people must have taken a mental toll. I don't think that her withdrawal from the group is weak writing at all, but probably very realistic. That said, I suspect she'll be in for the kill on the saviors. I'm pretty sure that she doesn't even know about Glenn and Abraham, yet.

This is what I think will tip Carol back into the badass woman we've known and loved. Carol and Glen go back to the very start, I can see Glenn's death having a great effect on her passivity. Even so, I think she is sick of all the killing and death and I don't know that her story ends well.
Title: Re: The Walking Dead...
Post by: ghostryder on December 14, 2016, 09:45:00 PM
Since the TV Carol is so different from the comic book Carol we can only guess how her role plays out. In the comic she never achieved baddass status and commited suicide long ago at the prison. Now she's just sitting selfishly in the cabin, provided for her, eating the food, provided for her not only not wanting to contribute but is even annoyed if someone stops by the say hi. We never got to see the conversation between her and the lion king when he stopped by--and I suspect that's going to play a part when they show that conversation---in fact we've seen little of Ezekial and the producers have said he's a huge part of season 7.

Season Final

As a season it's by far the weakest. Showing a 3.8 rating on Amazon. And I think that's a little too high. The show without Darabont has suffered and has some of the weakest writing of all the seasons. First it failed with Negan. Simply a one dimensional comic book villain with no depth. Daryl in a dark closet? We don't need to see 3 episodes of that and an uninteresting escape. way, way, way too much on Negan, His one-note, over the top sadism provides little and robs us of what could be interesting experiences-say with the Rick and Michonne love story- where is it? And those lost their tongue trash hoarders? That ridiculous process shot of their miles and miles of stuff? How come no one has managed to discover all that junk on their 10 day scavenging runs? Seems like they wouldn't be able to avoid it. And the Giant plot hole of them watching Rick swim through a hoard of zombies on a boat to get supplies but can't trust his ability until they throw him in with just one? WTF? And how does mankind devolve so fast they lost the ability to speak a language. Really?! or Really stupid writing?--take your pick and neither is a good outcome.

The best part of the second half of the season was so little Carl. I think the writers have done such awful things to the character it's best they stopped messing with it altogether.

The mid season closer and the season closer are really the only two watchable episodes. The rest can be summed up as the group's fighters turned to pansies and it takes 14 hours of boring fiction writing for them to find their balls again. No character development or really anything of importance happened except for Rick's new romance which was barely acknowledged.

Negan should have been dealt with by now but looks like we're forced to suffer more of the same. But they did manage to make us care a lot less for the few likable characters left in the series.

i have to admit im not enjoying this season at all, its almost like the writers decided they could use the total shock and horror of the first episode to excuse not having to write anything else at all - literally nothing has happened, its the first time ive let episodes back up on sky instead of watching them and waiting for the next one with great anticipation
Title: Re: The Walking Dead...

Interesting you wrote that- the first thing that popped in my mind....I can and have binged watched entire seasons but doing that this season would put me to sleep.  :crazy2:

Also sad they did something with the secondary characters after the first episode of violence porn but did absolutely nothing with Maggie. Barely appears in this season. Carol has come to her senses was okay but took far too long. Wasted daryle the entire season. really wasted all the main characters. Okay two bottom rune characters want to band up and kill negan? Well do something with it already. we know it'll end badly as they are disposable.

The show was always far better than the comic because as far as characters go it ignored the comic. In all honesty the comic has a lot of awful crap in it and the show has always been better when it veered off from it. Sadly here because the writers have no ideas they stick with it and throw in tired TV writing tropes---at least no cliff hanger here.

Next season they need to dispose of Negan early on. A season opener and then get on to better things. If they waste another season on it the show will die a more horrible death than Glenn.

Indeed. the last episode was pretty good--but seemed as something we should've seen around the 6th episode instead of a season finale. Morgan and Carol's arc was really the only interesting character development of the season. And that used to be the show's main strength. Also again not paying the comic any attention as in that Carol is long dead and never was badass and Morgan was never a significant character. They really were about the only thing that kept this season from being a 2 star rating.

You didn't dig The Jungle Fever episode?

The chemistry between the two seems forced, entirely too "made for TV". It's easy to see where they would have come together as a couple, giving all that's passed between them, but the actors simply have no spark together unless it involves exploding zombie heads. It's funny because both actors are capable of carrying a scene or episode, but somehow it doesn't translate well into on-screen intimacy with them.

Agree Steelgrave. not sure if it's the fact they glossed over it without exploring it in a couple episodes or what--but I don't see it panning out as it doesn't seem to work. In a carnival scene as an example-and it looks at first the zombies got Rick-I was a little dissapointed when he did the jack-in-box routine. i said, "damn. he's alive!"

I agree that this season has been lame.  So the good guys (Rick and his crew as the sharks) are growing a pair and getting ready for revenge against the bad guys (Neegan and his crew as the jets).  Rick is scrounging for guns and getting his posse together for the big showdown.  I'm expecting to hear "Eye of the Tiger" played some time soon.

Meanwhile, there's no tension, and not much plot.  You've got the king with his tiger and Jesus on the fence about joining, and the garbage-dump people with no personality.  Rick and Michonne are having a fun time romping in the haystack while on their quest for guns.  Carol has found herself a nice little cottage in the countryside.  Not sure what's happening back in Alexandria with Maggie and the rest of the folks there.  All-in-all: yawn.

Just about done with the most recent episode (Bury Me Here) and it is by far the best episode of this half season. Digging the Jungle Fever between Carol and Morgan.

This is the Carol and Morgan we need to see, not the navel-gazing, soul-searching Carol and Morgan of late but the "I can kill everyone all by myself" folks we love. It's the Apocalypse, people, get you kill on.

I enjoyed the most recent episode. 3 left for this half season.

This whole episode "The other side" only seem to point out how willing the writers are to spend enormous amounts of time on subbar characters and so liitle on the remaining main characters. Are we really caring for either Sasha or Rosita?

Rosita's time with Abraham was underwhelming and sasha has what? 3 weeks with him. Are we to believe this worthy of suicide missions?  As motivation, it is ridiculous. Which suggests that the TWD's producers weren't expecting Sonequa Martin-Green to be cast as a lead in CBS Access' new Star Trek series this Fall.

I can't pretend to care much about any of it. did anyone else notice that Rosita tried to hotwire a car that had two doors left open long term? She knows everything? Really?!

2 more to the final. Expect more lame cliffhangers.

I just want to see more of the junkyard group, that Jaden women kicks so much ass.

They split up too many characters, tried to give them backstory, but they haven't realised yet that four episodes of that in a row is really bloody BORING.

I mean they did realised it, but now it's too late now they tried to shock us with negan, which is successful and why we are still watching the boring shut for the inevitable shootout

The thing I don't like about that group is it seems too out of place (time?). I think it would take a lot longer for vocabulary to change after the apocalypse. They are more like a Gamma World Cryptic Alliance than a group of survivors.

I just watched The Other Side this evening and I agree.  Everything about Sasha and Rosita was fake tension.  They hate each other but team up out of necessity, but then have a major girlfriend bonding moment when they are outside the Saviors' compound getting ready for action.  Meanwhile back at Hilltop, they spend pleasant evenings planning missions against the Saviors.  Enid brings Maggie snacks of pita chips, baby carrots, and hummus dip.  There's barely any tension when the Saviors come in and almost discover Darryl and Maggie and steal the doctor.

At one point in the show, I caught my mind completely wandering and thinking about work or something else.  It's not a good sign if my dull life is more captivating than TWD.
