Overwatch season 3 started. Time to whip out my healing staff, lube it up and wait for the enemy team to shove it right up my ass.
Gotta write up my script for my best wargames of 2016 video.
Play some CMANO, go from the top down, maybe get the DLC's
I'll be hanging some Christmas lights if the weather cooperates.
Christmas decorations go up this week.
Gaming will probably be
F1 2016 - Baku isn't being friendly!
Thief - give it a fair go...
CoD:IW - really enjoying the campaign - though it is Call of Duty - but I knew that and nothing at all wrong with that
DC:Barbarossa - I wish it was easier to spot
I may also try and give DCS and Steal Beasts a go - but that seldom turns into anything. Steal Beasts should definitely get a run out as I started my 4 month licence running about a month ago!
Have a good weekend
Oh - and I'm out tonight with some ex-army pals. I haven't had a drink in 4 months - choosing in July to abstain until December - so I expect 4 pints and I'll be foot loose and fancy free! :DD
Another guy quit work this week so more overtime hell for me this weekend. We've lost 25 people in 6 years from a job that only requires 20 people. The other office with the same job requirements has lost 2 in the last 6 years. Why upper management refuses to recognize that the psychotic little Frenchman we have as a supervisor is toxic (he's currently wearing an ankle bracelet for assaulting his ex in front of their kid and then breaking bail conditions) and getting rid of him is beyond me. Oh well, the local breweries benefit from my increased alcohol consumption at any rate.
Still thinking of grabbing Parkitect, unsure of what game to play to be honest, open to suggestions!
Getting our Christmas tree and decorating it but I'll still make time for SCWWII - War in Europe, SOW Gettysburg Anniversary Collection, and WoW Legion.

Aouch! That's really bad....good luck.
I plan to play the following games:
-
Master of Orion: i want to finish my current campaign before installing the patch and the dlc
-
Civilization V with Japan.
-
Dawn of Andromeda -
Endless Space -
Horizon-
Knights of Honor
Hanging my one string of Christmas lights outside.
Finishing up master bedroom (paint door and window trim, passing fan blades, replace all outlets/switches)
Gaming-wise looking at Witcher 3 and maybe more Case Blue . I feel that every time I load up CB I'm learning something else. Hoping I hit that eureka point of comprehension soon.
Also keeping a close eye on planet coaster I don't have scratch for it right now but liking what I'm seeing.
Hof....I enjoyed your music choice, never heard of them, they were quite different, unique and talented. My gaming has been all over the place lately...a little Stellaris, some Polaris Sector and even some Making History WW1, and some Fallout 4, HoI IV, and..... :o
Holy shit, that music choice was awesome! Thanks, Hofstadter!
Out of town again this weekend, so low-tech lappy is primed for action...and by "action," I mean old school Red Orchestra &/or Darkest Hour.
Did get the clearance from the Mrs. to "get those games you wanted," for Christmas, so CS:ME, you will be mine (along with Squad, but don't tell her that)!
Command Modern Air & Naval Operations (Seoul 1950 scenario -- HIGHLY recommended)
Steel Panthers World War II (Shrapnel Games)
Victory & Glory: Napoleon (Matrix Games)
Master of Orion with the new DLC and maybe some more Civ6. Also keep working on my Horizon Star Trek mod. I've finished the ships for the Tholians and Cardassians so I'm almost done with them. That just leaves the Lyrans.
Play testing for LnLP.
Trying some more No Man's Sky on my new rig.
PBEM Plan Orange with SDR.... very random game... although I am doing a little better with the US this time.
PBEM Flashpoint Campaigns:RS with OJsDad... his Brits are tearing up my Soviets this time around...
Maybe some EUIV since it's been a while and I've been ripping on the game... better know what I'm talking about...
Maybe some NeverWinter Nights Diamond that GOG gave me fer free... been a long while since I played that game.... should be fun on a 43" monitor.
Really do need to put some more work into my gaming table... every time I start working on it I then start playing a game on it ... :-"

Yeah.. no. Legs aren't attached. Table surface not finished. It's going to have an inside as well and the sides for that aren't on. Top not started. Still not stained. etc...
After trying to get back into HOI IV -- and coming to the conclusion that the AI is still too awful for an enjoyable experience :( -- I've surprised myself by giving GG's War in the East yet another chance. With modded map, UI, and fonts, the game looks surprisingly nice -- the vanilla game is still too hideous to play. Managed to get a major victory on the Road to Leningrad scenario last night -- never managed that before. Contemplating jumping into a full '41 - '45 campaign this weekend.

So basically you are playing on a piece of plywood? That's hardcore dude. :D
Plywood on a floor, more like. :2funny:
@JH -- I have several but the essential are:
1. Jison's map
2. Combined Unit icons
3. the "COREd WitE" photos overhaul collection
4. the "Kommandeur Edition" GUI mod
All are available on the matrix forum: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=913 (http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=913)
Also, I use this as my fonts setting -- if you like it you can cut and past the following in the "WITEFontConfig.txt" in the "Dat" folder. You'll probably have to download the "Gunplay" font -- you may be able to locate it by searching the matrix forums --

Yeah, for me WITE's horrifically bland UI especially was long a stumbling block to my enjoying the game. It's funny, because I rather like the UI of WITP:AE, with all its quirks. But WITE vanilla just has no character or flair, IMO. Plus I always found the fonts really hard to read -- the Gunplay font really transformed the game for me! As does Jison's extraordinary map + UI.
I should add that I only actually use a couple of elements from the Kommandeur Edition GUI mod -- the full-blown mod is a little too much for me.

Yep, 4'x8' sheet of 1/2" plywood on 4 wobbly legs. Good times. :bd:
Playing "THE" Ultimate Battle... baby-sitting grandkids. Compared to that DC Case Blue and TEAW is a sad second. The secret to victory is, earphones for the noise, boring football on the TV so they'll go bother Grandma, and an occasional fierce Grandfather-face walk-through. If that doesn't work, go outside and get a scary-looking bug. Feel free to use these tactics yourself but beware..... they adapt like the Borgs. Have a good one Grogs.

Ditto; will try to remember when-if-ever I get around to firing it up again!
No doubt I'll be working on posting up my Secret AAR Project which has now been revealed in the fullness of time: Khazâd du-bekâr (http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=18319.0), playing
Battle for Middle-Earth II: Rise of the Witch-King on a 6 player grand campaign, as the Dwarves. Sauron has released the chief of the Nazgûl to raise Angmar again, out of the northern wastes; the troops of the Lidless Eye also march at his beck and call from Mordor; the Goblin King has sworn his armies to serve as well; Saruman has used Moria to stamp Lorien and the Woodland Realm already; Angmar has rolled over Rivendell; all the West has fallen! Gondor, with Rohan, stands alone in the South. CAN THE DWARVES (and a bunch of men, and a few elves) STEM THE TIDE OF THIS CATASTROPHE!?
PBEM WitE
PBEM DC:B
Some of Close Combat GTC
Well my fun friday is I got a call from the bank and someone fraudulently charged over $3800 from an account. They stopped the card but I have to go file a claim. Not sure what this will entail, but it sounds like im out of that money until they can straighten it out for me.

Depends on my wife requiring my time for a church sale. Otherwise, I'll probably finish writing up another scenario in the Winter War AAR. I hope to continue Pillars of Eternity.
So far tonight, CK2 and M2TW. I sure do wish there was a way to combine those two games. I like both so much, but some nights I'm really looking for a hybrid- a meatier M2TW, or a lighter CK2.
I am thinking of booting original MTW just for kicks as I just installed it again from a Humble Bundle. Also thinking about R2TW. I guess it's a Total War kind of night.
Heh.
If M2TW had never been released I really think I could groove on MTW1 right now. It seems like a fantastic game. I have to be honest, though, I can't help comparing the two.
But taken on its own merits, MTW seems like a really good game. I remember playing it back in the day but being completely clueless...which I still am with M2TW, but at least I understand why I'm clueless now.
Well,
I managed to catch a bug last weekend so the only Saturday I had off since I started working at this job...I spend it engaged in worship the goddess of the porcelain throne.
No gaming that weekend. :'(
I found a Pathfinder Adventure Card Game on my tablet so I've been playing it, the mechanics are really confusing for me because I don't understand deck games.
I played a bit of Ortus Regni yesterday, came with in inches of skewering my last rival..and then Mortis.. :pullhair:
So I have been bouncing trying to figure out Europa Universalis IV- Maybe it's because its 1444? I dunno.
I still have my game of Age of Wonders III going, plus Baldur's Gate and grabbed Neverwinter Nights Diamond from GOG.com.
Maybe just boot up CKII or even play King Arthur.
My gaming time is going to be limited this weekend. Some WoW and Elite for sure. Maybe some CMANO scenario design if I can find the time.
Seems as if no one ever posts any country tunes. This one is for my missing funds;

Every time I look at re-purchasing the original MTW, just for nostalgic reasons I suppose, there seem to be a lot of problems reported.
Besides all the freezing/crashing reports, I still recall the unit cards at the bottom of the battle screen not showing the unit type graphic. I remember that bug being a problem over a decade ago, when using newer video cards or some such. You can even see that bug proudly displayed in the Store Page screenshots on Steam. ::)
Not enough reason to pick it up IMO. The bugginess and low-res eye melting gfx would quickly turn my nostalgia sour. Plenty good to be had with M2TW and up, especially with mods.
If you end up buckling like a belt, then I want to know if you get any of those issues.
The only actual bugs I ever recall from several plays in MTW1, surfaced when I tried playing it on a WinXPSP2 super-laptop (from Falcon NW, which replaced my desktop for those years. It's still sitting behind my chair as I type!) When played on that machine, it was impossible to quit the game -- I had to learn how to manually turn off the laptop.
I already have it Nef; got it in some sale a long time ago. I played it last night and didn't have any bugs, but I didn't play any tactical battles. Also, I've read it can take a while for the game to start crashing.
I don't know that it's going to replace M2TW, though.

Best use JSGME :
1. Download the program
2. Install it in the c:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East folder.
3. Create a sub-folder called MODS inside the Gary Grigsby's War in the East folder
4. Place whatever JSGME-compatible mod you have in the MODS folder.
5. Run JSGME and add the mod.
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4086504 (post #3 has the full explanation)- PS. the download link in this post for JSGME works
Thanks PD, but I read the posting on the link and it seems awfully complicated, I may just pass.
Yup, I definitely use JSGME just like Pete D. described. It's actually not too complicated at all, and it allows you to activate / deactivate mods however you like, without ever changing WitE's 'vanilla' files.

Ended up playing Panzer Corps for several hours yesterday.
Finished my game of Civ 6 - science victory for Pericles of Greece - me, on Prince level
will have a go on a harder level when the game cycle comes round to Civ 6 again
I actually put in a few hours of Grim Dawn, which I haven't played for a couple of years since it was in early access IIRC.
Also did unboxing videos on the huge Warfighter WWII Card Game, U-Boat Leader, Wings of the Baron, and...I can't remember, but I have 'em. I just need to post-produce them and clean up the audio and upload them to our YouTube channel.
We have a YouTube channel?!?!?!?!?!? Wait a minute, is it like that front page thing we're supposed to have? What will you guys try to trick us with next?
Well...yeah I think it's not going to be officially announced until I get more content into it. Namely, these unboxing videos. It would be pointless to visit until then as there's zilch there right now.
So..........like the front page then?

I totally agree. :bd:
MTW is actually quite a different game to MTW2 despite the similarities in tactical combat.
Country western music these days is mostly pop crap. If you want real country music, you should listen to Wheeler Walker, Jr.
...errm, on second thought...
Anyway. It ain't country music if it's pop bullsh*t. Not that I'm a fan of CW, though I don't mind the older stuff.
I played very little WoW, didn't touch Elite at all. But I did get a crap ton of CMANO scenario editing stuff done. UK, French and German air base imports done, finished mapping the Albion Plateau and Ile Longue in Google Earth.
Hof....well done top-five wargame picks for 2016!! Anyone considering purchasing one of these games should watch your mini-reviews in this video. :notworthy:
edit....you might want to move it to its own thread.
Great video review Hof. O0
It would be a damn shame if you didn't give Chris Stapleton a try. Good new old school country/southern rock. He's pretty popular with quite a few crowds, not just country. Was a huge hit at Bonnaroo and a few other festivals before getting acknowledged. These are just a few off of a stellar freshman debut. And more importantly, not rap. Can't spell crap without rap.
Hell, he even gets a little bluesy
Ironically, I got very little gaming done last weekend, despite having three nights off (Thursday-Saturday). I ended up spending most of my time drinking, hanging out with friends, and generally giving the proverbial middle finger to having turned 40. \m/ I played a little MOO4 and MTW/VI, but that was it (and not much of either one of those, to be honest).

I'll not deny it's greatly upsetting when I look in both the official forums and Steam forums and see how at least 90% of the threads are about how people can't run MTW/VI. Making the game available on Steam was a brilliant idea, but I feel bad for all those folks who purchased it, hoping to either relive their nostalgia or (more rarely) try one of the old greats, only to be denied the pleasure. :( I seem to have been born under a lucky star or something in that my current rig has had few problems getting the game to run.
...Which is especially fortunate, as I've always preferred the Risk-style campaign map from the original Shogun and Medieval over the "modern" campaign map from Rome 1 onward. If I could just combine the newer combat engine(s) with the older campaign map, that'd be just about my ideal setup.
