You could google, "Dragonborn quest won't start!" and see what happens.

Now I'm thinking!

Turns out a file isn't loaded properly via Steam. Not sure what to do about that yet, but I'll figure something out.

Open the Skyrim Launcher, click on data files, and check to make sure Dragonborn is checked.

<chuckle> That was amazing! It was *not* checked. I'd like to meet the dev who coded that option.

Edit: Thank you. That fixed it.

LOL....sorry to laugh but I did the same darn thing with the Fallout 3 addon "The Pitt"...couldn't get it to trigger because, unknown to me, it required me to go in and check it off as an active mod.  Had to go to their forums to get an answer.

I always wondered my my Pitt mod didn't show up in Fallout3!  LOL.  This thread is classic.   :o

Ok, so my first foray into Solthsteim or however you say it was interesting.

The short version was that I got my ass kicked, repeatedly, so I've backtracked to Skyrim.

I posted on the Steam forums and I am WAY too low level for Dragonborn.  There are guys in the 35-50 level that are barely comfortable and my guy is only up to level 8 now.  I don't want to boot up my old guy so I'm going to have to wait until I get buffed up a bit more before I tackle Dragonborn some more.  It will be sitting there waiting for me.

On a separate note, I had my first run-in with a vampire while I was playing last night.  Nice to see my Dawnguard DLC kicking in, too.  So travelling at night just got a whole lot more interesting!

I'm trying to role-play a bit more this go around, trying to minimize my fast travel, wearing Skyrim-themed fur and banded armor, stuff like that.  I was going to try to play through with no magic, but I find myself gravitating to a Spellsword type character again.  Honestly, I don't know how to play any other way.

Well, I guess that's it.  I saw a preview of Dragonborn on Kokatu that was very favorable.  I like that the Morrowind music is in it, and the graphics are fantastic.  It sure would be nice to see all of Morrowind overhauled in the Skyrim engine.

So 15 or so months after getting Dragonborn I've managed to level up the character referenced in this post to level 31 and I am back at Solthesteim tonight questing to fulfill the Dragonborn prophesy.  I just cleared my first dungeon and saw Miraak, so I'm working my way through the main questline without too much trouble just yet.

Damn, I didn't realize I've been plodding along at such a dismal rate...a year and a half, really?   :-[

You are just a little late.

Anyone else been following the development of Skywind?

Its the Morrowind remake mod for Skyrim. Unlike previous projects though, Bethesda hasn't shit them down. And from the look of their videos they are actually making progress on it.

Sir Slash

There are projects to use the Skyrim engine to recreate Morrowind and Oblivion. Skywind looks to be the most ambitious of the two. I hope they can pull it off-- like I really need another world to get lost in.

I enjoyed Dragonborn, especially the tribute it gave to the older Morrowind game. I look forward to the Skywind mod talked about here but in a way, a little of it has already been done.

Whelp, I finished Dragonborn.  It really isn't very long if you crank right through the main quest.  I think I spend less than 10 hours total on it, including a couple of side quests.

Overall it was neat.  The final boss fight was indeed pretty boss.  I don't know that it was $20 awesome, but now that you can pick up the whole smack for pennies I definitely think it's worth checking out, if for no other reason than the nod to Morrowind with the music and all.

Now that I've finished the main quests of main Skyrim (twice), Dawnguard (twice), and Dragonborn (once), I'm just not sure what to do with myself in Skyrim.  I don't know that a 3rd play through is warranted...

I open to any suggestions you all might have, but unfortunately I think the best move might be to head to Morrowind or Oblivion and finish one of those.

Toonces,

Do you have the free mod that sets up a minor campaign to rebuild the small city destroyed by the dragon in the prologue? I've heard good things about that.
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

IIRC there is actually a lot more to do on Solstheim the initial appearances. The Telvanni wizard, the dig site, the pirate armor questline, and a few more that I can't think of at the moment. I found there was more side quests in Dragonborn then in Dawnguard. Other then the main danwguard story, the only major quest line I can think of is the Aetherium quests.

Only 3 playthroughs? Makes my 8 feel like a little too many. I'm planning on doing another playthrough as soon as T3ndo gets around to releasing his latest overhaul mod.

There are several quest mods available. Falkskaar and Wyrmstooth both come highly recommended on the Nexus. And as JasonPratt pointed out the Helgen Reborn mod is worth trying as well. Or you can install a bunch of graphic mods, turn ugrids up to 7 or 9 and run around a take screenshots for use as desktop wallpaper.
