Competitive Dinner Preparation and Wine Drinking - My friend and I like to cook elaborate meals and we've been having a friendly competition where we go to the others house for the night and eat great food, cooked by the host, matched with great wine, brought by the guest. Our wives love it. Tends to be very drunken near the end.

Sounds like a grand time, man.  Hope you guys have fun! 

Well I work all dang weekend, so I doubt I'll get much gaming done. 



That being said I seem to be suffering from "4x ADD" at the moment:  I keep jumping back & forth between my three favorites:  Birth of the Federation (BOP mod), Armada 2526 Supernova, and Distant Worlds: Shadows.  However, I also keep thinking I need to get back into the StarDrive campaign I started earlier this week, as well as play around with the Horizon alpha. 

And then there's Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes, which has been calling my name the last day or two...

Lol...same boat. I actually did start up another Stardrive game. Haven't played in months. Playing at .5x speed, I quite enjoy it...especially now that freighters are working properly and Marines launch in transports.

Yeah, I play at .5x speed now as well (I was playing at the standard 1x speed).  Because of that and other changes made (especially to planetary invasions) in more recent updates, I have to partially retract my statement last week (earlier this week?) about StarDrive feeling like an RTS title.  It still feels a little "click-fest-y" to me during battles, but it's not too bad. 


Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention I'm feeling the pull of Civilization IV as well.  ::)  Argh! 

Will also continue to learn Moo3.
I might mess around with the Horizons alpha if they update it again. That diplomatic incident pissed me off so much I dropped it.

I'm a little annoyed by Horizon seeming to require a bunch of extra mouse-clicks, particularly where giving commands to my ships (both on the galaxy map and in combat) is concerned.  Maybe I'm just not getting it, but it feels like a fair amount of extra work for no apparent purpose or gain. 

Otherwise, though, I like the way the game feels overall.  I need to play more before I really feel qualified to make any sort of preliminary judgment, however.

This weekend I'm (probably) going to witness the delivery of my 2nd kiddo (a boy to go along with my 5 year old daughter).  Though...I really wish it were like the old days when the man waited outside and came in later to see the cleaned up mother and child as if nothing had happened.  :)

However, if he decides to wait until next week...I'll be playing lots of World of Tanks and Wargame: Airland in order to distract me from my impending doom.  :)
