we need to organize a grog battle of some sort.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

Good!  I remain disappointed with the SP campaign.  Wargame: Total War it is not.   :P
"As I understand from your communication, Mr. Engle, you're on the brink of self-destruction. May I shake your hand? A brilliant idea! I speak as one who has destroyed himself a score of times.  I am, Mr. Engle, a veteran corpse. We are all corpses here! This rendezvous is one of the musical graveyards of the town. Caters to zombies hopping around with dead hearts and price tags for souls." - Angels Over Broadway

the SP campaign isnt so bad.  Ive played the big one a bunch of times now and different stuff keeps happening.  Id like to see them remove the ability to destroy a routed battlegroup just because you move into its map space though.  its led to some early victories when other battles where just getting really interesting.
I currently have a Marine group fighting a Soviet tank group in central Norway where theyve both been bled white.  I cant take them out and they cant take the last sector that the Marines are clinging to.  all the air power is dead, all the helicopters are dead and the only way into the sector has my Sheridans hitting T-72 with flanking fire.  I think I might have all of 4 or 5 infantry squads left.  worse, I cant withdraw the group from the map for some reason.  a bitter fight and lots of fun.

I bought European Escalation a few months ago and just recently played the first 4 battles of West Germany against East Germany.  How does AirLand Battle compare?  I like EE, but I'm not a huge RT player, but you guys make it sound pretty enticing.

GDS_Starfury

I havent played EE but it would seem theres a lot more air power in ALB.

They are practically wholly different games.  The RTS fighting element feels similar, but the deck building and dynamic campaign of Airland is far superior to EE.

jomni

There's  no Zerg rush and scripted missions  in ALB campaign. Enemy have limited OOB (just like you) and battles don't play out in the same way when you try again.

Thanks for the info, I may pick this up sometime when its on sale.

You just missed a couple big sales on it.  Bad timing?

Be aware, it is an RTS in the end. Combat Mission it is not. The game can still seem like its going really fast, especially when you have less people playing and you have to control larger sections of the map.
PanzersEast: Have to think to myself.... will I play the first one by the Winter Sale?  Probably not, then I should remove Dragonfall
PanzersEast: but that is thinking too logically.... and Steam Sales are about ignoring Logic

Mr. Bigglesworth

My initial impression is the game is a winner. The force options with terrain use are very cool. All air seems like CAS though. Air needs bigger strategic maps that slow the game down. It takes more time for land units which is more realistic. It feels a bit like a Cock fight in a cage.

Mr. Bigglesworth

It just hit me that its the scale is off. A building is 1/4 the length of a farm field. Tanks cross fields in a few seconds. A real farm might be 1000 acres. On the highway at 100Km/Hr you drive by in maybe a minute.

That is why the game feels so fast. Ever hiked over a mountain?

After a month off I played a few games over the weekend...the "Rage Quitters" aka "spoiled teenagers" are rampant.  In one game most of the other team quit and my team was gloating about being so good.  It isn't hard to beat your opponent when you have 9 guys to his 4...  Then I was in a 10v10 and within 10 minutes it was me and 2 guys vs 8.  Things went poorly for us in the beginning and they just all just gave up.

If I didn't have proof...there is no way I would believe this current generation could be of the same gene pool as our "Greatest Generation."  Our society is doomed.

It's generally believed to be a side effect of the, "nobody loses" stuff being taught in today's politically correct education systems.  Makes for sore losers and brats when they don't learn how to deal with failure.
