Adds in research so you can get some cool toys and sell them fer cash.
You can now use the Super Cobras as air support while fighting on the ground. Each one you have can be called in and will blast away for about 30 seconds. Great crowd control.
Each marine can carry up to 3 weapons. Only stuff you pick up during a mission though.
You can now toggle marines to not have anyone follow them... very handy!
Advisors have new options about what they can help with. You can also cross post advisors to positions other than their expertise.
Train private military personal for big money, like more than $100,000,000!
You can now name your Ark and all your marines if you want.
Plus some other stuff...

Still crashes on my iPad2 if there is anything else in memory, or I play for a really long time.

I may also continue my Master of Orion game with the Klackons (netbook).

Thanks for the tips about F1.  I think you're right.  Playing games is about having fun so if I have to sod manliness to do so then so be it!   I'll fire the game up over the weekend and have another go at it.

I'll echo what Slash said about skipping the prologue and jumping into the game.  I got frustrated with the first mission within minutes of playing it and decided I would skip the prologue all together.  Playing the campaign is the best way to learn provided of course you pay attention to all the little tid bits that Gus mentions.  Take me for example.  I spent a good hour and a half on turn one of my campaign in order to soak all the screens and info in.  The game is actually well laid out and the cause and affects of the various parameters make and follow logical sense.

I'll be building a new computer desk and book shelf this weekend.  I measured it out so that my Lazy Boy will fit very nicely reclined under the desk.

Games....Rome II and some either Panzer or ASL at some point this weekend.

Fitting a lazy-boy in the reclined position under your computer desk?  Man you're my new hero.  I've fallen asleep at the wheel in my standard upright office chair and woken up with a stiff neck and back while my pixel empire was destroyed.  With a lazy-boy setup at least I wouldn't have a stiff neck or back.

Interesting the wide variety of games Grogheads are into; everything from Torchlight 2 to Civ War 2, from Xenonauts to Command: Naval/Air Ops.  I've been around from the start of PC gaming and feel we are truly in another golden age.

If you have never played the original before then I would recommend the newer enchanced...it looks a lot better, has some minimal added content and npc's that can join your party, and best of all, you can scroll out for a more higher, extended view.  If you have played the original then then new one isn't all that much different, even with the added content..
