Dude, I don't "know" that Joffrey dies either; I never read far enough in the series to know what happens to him.  But he's such a completely horrid little bastard, and is so obviously supposed to be hated, that you know he's going to come to a bad end.  ::)

Jack Gleeson plays Joffrey.  He is Irish and very reclusive.  Does hardly any pub.  As for whether or not he dies, you'll have to watch if you haven't read.  Although, with the glacial pace Martin writes, the shows creative team has said they will continue forward whether Martin has finished or not.  If that's the case, and it appears likely, I wonder what direction they will go.  Part of the fun of watching shows like this is to see if you can guess where the plot is going to end up.  I still think Jon Snow and Dany team up/get married in the end.  The dragons melt The Wall.  Everybody bands together just in time to stave off elimination and Arya turns into the most badass of them all.
