banning a burka or headscarf would not have prevented those individuals from carrying out their crimes.  Their were locals, who were  easy targets to be manipulated and to get them to covert themselves to this perverted ideas.  That is ISIS's tactic which has been used in the western world.

I think they had to prevent him from travelling, since there might have been the possibility that he would just travel south to the States and  cause trouble elsewhere.

So far, what we know about these two criminals it that they were "radicalized" over the internet and not by any locals. These two are just petty thugs that were not man enough to join gangs to do bad things to other people and instead believed that doing cowardly acts in the name if ISIL might give their sorry lives some kind of meaning.

It is this kind of "over the net" recruitment the needs to be fought. And not by censorship that is always bad.

Maybe the ISIL website need to be vigorously attacked/hacked... redirecting visitors to police web sites or mental health websites or even nice friendly religious websites. Surely our police forces/intelligence services have the ability and manpower to fight that kind of battle.
