An impressive showing, by world leaders...especially the Palestinian. You'd have to think it is extremely dangerous for him to take part in that.

As for Anonymous...also equally impressive. I am still hoping that these attacks result in more and more anti-terror effort.

And as usual not having the US President there is idiotic. Anyone know what he was doing today instead?

How Anonymous selects targets makes me wonder sometimes.   ISIS, and other terrorists  have been around for years, and only now 'Anonymous' decide to go after them.  I've got mixed feelings about them.  I do wonder if it will turn out like the threat they pulled on the Mexican cartel a few years ago, and they backed off after the cartel threatened to come after them.

Endfire, I also question Anonymous's motives.  As you said, this isn't something new that just cropped up.  I wonder where they will draw the line on 'radical' groups.

Also, you have to wonder is French intelligence and security agencies are asking the NSA to help with some data gathering.

Probably the most significant news story has been completely eclipsed by other stories, at least on my radar.

Last week the Egyptian president gave a significant speech to a bunch of imams attending a mosque, scolding them for not doing more to speak against Islamofacists:

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has called for a "religious revolution," asking Muslim leaders to help in the fight against extremism.

In a speech celebrating the birthday of the Prophet Muḥammad, which coincided with New Year's Day, he said they had no time to lose.

"I say and repeat, again, that we are in need of a religious revolution. You imams are responsible before Allah. The entire world is waiting on you. The entire world is waiting for your word ... because the Islamic world is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost. And it is being lost by our own hands," el-Sisi said.

The report I heard on the news is that the turnout on the streets of Paris is the largest since it was liberated during WWII.

I'm pretty certain Anonymous are being attention whores and will fold at the first sign of a real threat (sorta like wannabe 'ganstas' peeing their pants at the first sight of a REAL gangster), but if they can screw up extremist Twitter or web pages, even briefly, then so much the better.

Of course who knows where it ends, and I'm pretty sure the NSA or other security agencies would prefer them to stay out of the way.
