Dip your hands into the gory remains of our hobby if you must.  Rationalize the grim spectacle however you will.  Nefaro and I will be over in a dimly lit corner playing with his micro-Hummels.

I would sooo join in the casual MTG deck-building fest, if I were there.  Been a long time.   ^-^

Although, when it comes to CCG/LCGs, finding an opponent to ease myself into Mage Wars would be ideal.   :smitten:  Is that being too "cult of the new"?

Let me know what you think of it.....  I would be interested to hear your personal experience from playing.

>ahem<

You know we DID do a full review of RAF v2 last year? ;)

Yea, I read it.... but I always like to hear others personal experience of the game.  Believe it or not I do read the front page and look for review  O0

Very cool...and a coincidence for me as I was punching RAF (V2) counters earlier in the day. Still working through the rulebook but have the map under the plexi and a pretty good idea of what's to come after watching StukaJoes excellent tutorial video over on BGG. Going to be my summer vaca game.

That list doesn't yet have these acronyms used to befuddle JD in this thread.

Strange method of alphabetical organization you have, Brant.  ???

But it's nerdtastic, so that's good enough!   :)

Interesting. Wasn't aware this was in the works. Who will be publishing?

Not sure if I'll feel the need to pick up the PC version of RAF. The bit of exposure I have with e-versions of solitaire wargames (VG Carrier for iOS) I found somewhat underwhelming compared with the boardgame experience. Can't really say why I didn't enjoy it as much. Computer versions of 2-player games are more appealing. Can't wait to get my hands on Twilight Struggle for example. Something like World in Flames would be awesome  :2funny:

Couple Origins acquisitions played with the family.  Can't say why, but I was surprised that TEK is simpler than TED.  Good game, though.

I played Betrayal at the House on the Hill at the local game store this afternoon.  We'd just set the game up when the owner dragged some dodgy looking guy in dirty, ripped clothes that smelled of stale beer and cigarette smoke over to us and plunked him down at our table.  The guy's gaming tastes ran to Risk and Monopoly and he seemed out of his depth because he just couldn't grasp the rules at all and this is a really simple game.  As expected, Murphy's Law kicked in and he ended up becoming the betrayer which meant he had to read a few paragraphs that would inform him of his supernatural powers and a few more paragraphs on how combat and movement rules worked for the betrayer and his minions.  He didn't understand it at all so I had to read all the secret stuff and help him play his part.  Pretty much killed the enthusiasm for any other gaming for the rest of the day.

It's still a pretty fun little game though.

Did he release the IOS Carrier game?  It's my understanding that WoTC said nix nix poo poo on the idea even though the guy coding it had Jon Southards blessing- so he was going to make it "Carrier like" but uniquely different.  He is or was using my modded map for it; not sure if that changed too.  Or perhaps there's two people working on the same thing?

I think Mr. Plum did it with the kitchen knife in the ballroom.  ;)

Yeah, it's a nice light game that isn't very difficult and has relatively few "fiddly bits".  I had to stuff some folder paper bits under those little plastic attribute pointers that attach to the character boards in my copy, however.  They didn't grip them at all.  :knuppel2:

I think the Betrayer mechanic is generally Popularity Gold when you've played some games with a capable player receiving the role.  Sorry to hear that wasn't the case this time.

If you like Betrayal at the House on the Hill, then you should also enjoy Dead Of Winter.  It's similar, with some added group resource hunting/management albeit in a wintry zombiepocalypse survival situation.  Everyone has their own secret objective, which usually consists of achieving the main group objective along with hoarding a few specific items for themselves.  The betrayer is the one who gets the objective of foiling the group objective, and stays hidden until the rest of the players think they figure it out there's a betrayer & who it is.  Then they can take an exile vote.  Sometimes there isn't even a betrayer in any one game, so too much paranoia could cause you to exile innocent survivors and hurt your resource gathering potential before achieving the co-op group objective most require to win at the end.  It's a great game, better mechanically than HotH but remains relatively easy to learn, pick up, and play.  Also some beautiful artwork & layouts on the components.  IIRC there are a couple modules for Dead Of Winter in Tabletop Simulator.

Don't know Gary. Don't think anything has been released. The most up to date info on the matter I've seen was your recent chat with Cyril on BGG.

We've seen the reprinting of Upfront come to pass....anything is possible  :))

I figured I'd share one of the great joys of CCGs...
