I'll say this - there are very, very few tv shows/movies that get military behavior right.  Largely because the people that make tv shows/movies have never been in the military and don't know anyone remotely associated with the military, and therefore they see "THE MILITARY"™ as some monolithic machine rather than a collection of human beings.

For those folks that cared enough to actually get it right - Blackhawk Down, We Were Soldiers - they did it extremely well.  But the Walking Dead franchise has been dicked up on the military forever - remember the guy that 'stole' his M60 tank?  And was firing it from the driver's hatch?  Yeah.  I'm not trusting them to accurately portray units full of guys I used to know (I was in the CAARNG for a while...)

I really enjoyed the first season, the feeling of dread from the first episode as they went around living their lives and then everything turning to custard was pretty well done. Travis annoys me a bit, but as he's a Maori (in RL and in the show), I wonder if they'll explore that more and we'll see him find his warrior spirit and get it on with taiaha and mere. That would be awesome..
