Only three turns into a solitaire game of Eldritch Horror and my three investigators are already riddled with Madnesses & Injuries.   

Shub-Niggurath will be having it's way with me if I don't turn this around soon.  The Black Goat Of The Woods doesn't give reach-arounds AFAIK, either.  And with the murphy'd dice rolls I've been having, who needs Curses?

I never paid much attention to that game because for some reason I had it in my mind that it was the precursor to of GMT's "No Retreat" (don't ask my why, I have no idea other than the scale is similar).  I was just reading the reviews and some forums on this one and it has me very interested.  Tim, I really like the graphics that you've done and have a couple of titles laying around here that have your name on it- good work!  Would you be doing the "de-dux" version of this game as well?  Is that something confirmed or just a rumor at this point (about the reprint/update)?  PE, let us know what you think of this one.  We seem to have similar tastes in our games so if this one passes the smell test with you then I'll be very inclined to pick up a copy for myself.

I setup the Barbarossa full campaign and did a couple of turns to get the rules down, and there are quit a few things that happen as you go through the steps.

Some brief observations:

1. Chit pull combat:  At first I was unsure if I would like this as normally combat resolution is done by calculations or chucking dice.... but it works and is very good system.  There are a number of different type of results you can draw and what goes back into the cup and what does not usually does the do not benefit you but you can add them back later but you have to pay. (mainly those things that help you do not)

2. Production:  Again, was not sure how this is going to work but there is a neatly production mechanisms woven into the game that I find works very well.

3. The Line:  Normally in games you have breaches in lines or spaces between hexes but TBC has a fluid line that once you advance closes rank with a Line unit so you are always facing opposition.  Pretty cool to see the line snake around as you try and pincer and encircle units and drive deep into Mother Russia.

There is a real sense of urgency as the German player to reach your objectives by not wasting movement and attacks.... plus taking advantage of what is presented.  You can feel and see as the turn track progresses that you are a move of the turn track away from losing the initiative and it not coming back.... so far, the system is pretty genius and there is a lot of depth and meaningful decisions to be made.

Last month I commented on some astronomical shipping charges I received for a pre-order game from mulitiman publishing. I was just looking over my last CC statement and noticed a $32 refund from mulitiman. I haven't received any explanation, so am assuming it is related. This bit of good news puts that transaction on par with what I would expect. Good on them  O0

I've just pre-ordered LnL's Heroes of the 'Nam to replace my first edition Forgotten Heroes/Anzac Attack, and the the two shipping options to NZ were Priority Mail International for $49.00 (which is only $10 less than the actual game) or First-Class Package International Service for $11.10. I obviously chose the First-class mail option. :) I gather that's surface mail?

Can't roll to save my life on yet another day.  Plus.. even my good card draws are being nullified by bad shit.  I better wait until the bad juju passes to pick something up again.
