The book is fantastic. The casting is pretty spot on, too. Everyone is a good fit for the characters.

Back more on topic -- I'm tentatively planning Halloween gaming, and I have a big juicy ALIEN game sitting on my hard drive!

...it's impossible to write anything on this board without double entendrés, isn't it?

Anyway. I, um, tested it out earlier this year, up to somewhere near the point where I happened to already know the Xeno appears for the first time in actual gameplay. And then quit.

Because... um... saving it for Halloween, yeah, that was why.

I figure this one game may count for all Halloween gameplay this year. >:D

Collider is a great site. Cinema Blend is fugging annoying - it's like they gotta cram as many ads as they can in as many tiny spaces as they can and see how annoying they can be. Answer: didn't click Next Page.

That said, the user names in the Prometheus 2 article's comments section are hilarious - Faptain America and J'accuseteau - classic.

Ridley Scott's changed his position a lot since Prometheus. He originally wanted only a loose connection with the Alien franchise. Now he's naming the next one Alien: Paradise Lost and is going to have some connection with Ripley.

I guess he figured out what's going to butter his bread.

Everyone seems to tout how great his District 9 movie was. But I didn't get into it. Actually stopped watching it about 2/3rds through. Chappie looked like a damn kid movie to me, didn't bother.

Guess I'm on the other end of the Alien preference spectrum from some of you.

I'm with you Nef. Hated District 9 and wasn't at all interested in Chappie. I didn't really know what to think when he was announced as the director, though; I'm not expecting great things from the film anyway, plus this is a series that had Jean-Pierre Jeunet at the helm for one instalment!

I hated District 9 and I'm never going to watch Chappie. Still, I have some faith in Blomkamp to deliver on an Aliens movie. The concept art he produced to help pitch his story idea looked great. I know that doesn't mean much, but it gives me a little hope. And honestly, he can't do much worse than the last few movies.

I liked District 9, and Elysium. Skipped Chappie, as there was nothing about the trailers that said "watch me".

I thought the tech in Elysium was great but the story and message made me want to puke. Chappie was just awful.

I don't get the hate for District 9 and Elysium...both were okay to me. I wouldn't go out of my way to re-watch them, but I've certainly seen worse in my couch-potato career.

FWIW Chappie had zero appeal to me. Too much like Johnny Five in Short Circuit, sans the humor and interest and originality.

District 9 was way too heavy-handed with the alien apartheid theme. I don't need a film to beat me over the head with it's message like that. Alien Nation was a far more interesting film that covered similar themes.

I haven't seen Elysium. Based on the reviews and what I've heard others say about it, I'm not inclined to watch it.
