Just a spectacular game.

Wife, son, and I got greased four times and finally beat the first movie on the very last turn of the very last card of the fifth game.  THe three of us are still, a day later, going over the win and looking forward to taking on Aliens.

Top stuff.

Excellent & surprisingly thematic game.

I still haven't played the Predator one, but it's near the top of the stack.

It's excellent as well. You can play co-op against the Predators, much like vs. the Aliens in the earlier game. Or, you can play competitive AS Predators against the characters from the movies. Fun either way.

The year is April 114 AD and Trajan looks east to conquer the Parthians.  At first glance you see the might of the Roman Military, however looks can be deceiving.  In this game attrition is a nightmare and the recruitment and replenishment of troops along with supply is enough to make an Emperor go mad.

Politics play a role on both sides and the Romans have but until the winter months to reach their goal.... strike deep into the Parthian regions and capture key cities, specifically the regional capitals of Ctesiphon, Europas-Rhagae, Hecatompylus, and Ecabatana.  A pivotal region is that of the Armenian cities.... both sides want to retain control.  Really an exploratory session of the 1st Scenario.  Attirtion is a real threat to your military, and it is not easy getting replacements or raising new units.

To recruit you must have a leader in one of the Roman held cities and their are class restrictions.  So a V class (Veteran) may only be recruited in Roman provincial capitals.   However, once the unit has been assembled, it must make the trip and suffer normal attrition, thus your unit could be decimated before it reaches your army.   The supply aspect of logistics can be very harsh... which I like.  You can call in reinforcement units (from the Empire) however there is a mechanism that could result in a revolt back in Rome.

Just received my copy of C3i #29... finally available in Canada. 



Mainly bought it for the extra Wing Leader counters and scenarios but it comes with a full game: Plan Orange, based on the rules for Empire of the Sun.
Nice sized map.

Looking forward to learning this as I'm interested in EotS. I hear it has solo or Bot rules.  O0

I also had GMT's  new Operation Dauntless show up this week, and finally, finally, OSG's Napoleon's Last Gamble, complete with the north and south map extensions to cover the Sambre crossing and the area of Brussels. I have MMPs Reluctant Enemies on the table but am not finding time to play it during the week like I'd hoped.


But I'll get right on ordering EotS.  ::)

You and Bawb and Cyrano and whoever I'm playing in the PzB tournament! I have to admit it's just too easy to succumb to the pleasure of playing against fellow grogs versus taking the time to learn a new system at the end of the day.

I specifically grabbed Operation Dauntless because it was the same scale and covered actions covered by PzB. I'm interested to compare how the two systems play. But I also really want to get my head around OCS...

That can be our next VASSAL game!  I've got the bloody thing.  A friend and I have tried to set it up and play on a few occasions and we both just end up buried in the rulebooks muttering to ourselves for a few hours before packing it back up and switching over to Twilight Struggle instead.
