I saw that. It's a fair assessment of the movie.

Half In the Bag (aka the Plinkett crew) tend to be a quite mixed bag in their reviews, and this one's no exception. They wanted to like it, saw a good movie in there somewhere, but...



I don't think I've seen many reviewers make the Guardians of the Galaxy connection, but they nailed it -- and Suicide Squad isn't supposed to be GotG. At all. Only in the most superficially trivial way possible (criminals doing good).

Another interesting impression from their review: this felt like a sequel to a prior movie with flashbacks to catch up new viewers. But it isn't.

I saw that Red Letter Media video a few days ago but had to stop it halfway though. It's the only video of theirs that I disagree with.

I didn't get a GotG vibe from SS at all. I mean, once RLM said it in their video, I get it, but it just doesn't feel like they were copying that flick.

Oh well. I loved it, you guys hated it, what's for dinner?

Just kidding. I don't hate it or love it either way; haven't seen it yet, will rectify that at some point.

I may be wrong on this, but I don't think others here hated it.  I think they were disappointed in it.

We went and saw CA:Civil War.  Never saw Ultron or Antman.  Yet, it was easy to understand what was driving the bad guy.  Maybe didn't know much about Vision, Antman, or Scarlet Witch, but had enough background on the others to understand who the people were.

This seems to be the issue the DC has, not knowing how to introduce or develop characters.  I have a feeling if we went to see SS, we would leave totally confused.

But that's the thing: I know jack-all about DC characters and I was absolutely fine with the character development.
