Ugh...tough loss today.

Yeah, here, too.  boss the game for 55 minutes, and lose on a shitty play with 3:30 to go when they nailed the QB but the prayer of a pass he threw up found a receiver in the end zone

I'm sorry you went to that game.  I saw it on TV.  The missed field goal.  The dropped interception.  Then the reception.  Bad times.

For the wife and I Saturday was excellent.

UNC won in convincing fashion.
Auburn managed to win.
Dook lost.

Good times.

The missed field goal happened right over our head while we were standing in the tunnel waiting to walk onto the field

So, your the reason they missed the field goal?  :knuppel2:

Hardly - Bambard's missed more kicks than the extras in a Jackie Chan flick

he's the reason they lost at Clemson, too

...y'know what, I don't even care. As long as LSU and someone else beats Florida going out, I'm good.  :knuppel2:

Harsh game tho. Beating Smashabama (home of 60 minutes of smash mouth football) is never easy -- and that score is pretty typical -- and to have Bama rip it away and then stomp any comeback late... phew.

Congrats to Bama knocking out the last big threat for their season. Whoever they play for the SEC championship won't be at LSU's calibre. And I'd rather have anyone representing the Southeast for the National Championship than no one.

(...um, unless we luck into the SEC championship again somehow and then become nuclear powered enough to beat Alabama, putting the SEC right out of the national hunt. I'm okay with that, on the balance. I'm also okay with being given a helicopter for Christmas, which is relatively more likely and would be more useful by comparison.  ::) )

Personally, I want Kentucky to win the East and pull the mother of all upsets and beat Alabama for the title in the Bear Bryant Rolls Over In His Grave Bowl

Then you have a four loss SEC conference champ getting left out of the playoff but you would have Louisville sitting there with a win over the SEC champ and only 1 loss, and your playoff 4 are L'ville, Clemson, UWash, and the Big 14 champ and/or Ohio St.

Either one of those schools can claim Bear.  One that can't, was just shown why Coach O needs to go.  Maybe there's something to this, "If Bear coached your team....," thing.

QuoteBy the way, wanna know the last five first-round quarterbacks to make it to November of their rookie years without starting an NFL game? Johnny Manziel, Jake Locker, Tim Tebow, Josh Freeman, JaMarcus Russell, and Brady Quinn.

Damn, really? I thought JaMarcus started right from the get-go. I know he was a huge flop (literally, huge), but thought he had started games his rookie year.

Interesting discussion over the past few weeks in Stewart Mandel's college football mailbag about which college teams faced the craziest "murderer's row" of quarterbacks in the same season.

The genesis of the question was a few weeks ago when someone asked

Hi Stewart: After Saturday's game against Clemson, FSU will have faced five QBs – Ole Miss' Chad Kelly, Louisville's Lamar Jackson, UNC's Mitch Trubisky, Miami's Brad Kaaya and Clemson's Deshaun Watson -- projected to be early-round draft picks in the next two years. Can you recall a team that faced better QB talent in a single season?

Among the current contenders:

Texas Tech 2003: Eli Manning, Ole Miss; Phillip Rivers, NC State; Vince Young, Texas; Jason White, Oklahoma; Brad Smith, Missouri; Joel Klatt, Colorado.
as an aside, the Joel Klatt reference was b/c it's a Fox Sports website, so they're messing with the writer

In regards to a QB Murderer's Row, how about 1982 Notre Dame in just 11 games?
Jim Kelly (Miami): 1st round draft pick in 1983 and Hall of Famer
Dan Marino (Pitt): 1st round draft pick in 1983 and Hall of Famer
Todd Blackledge (PSU): 1st round draft pick in 1983

Hi Stewart, to continue with your QB Murderer's Row Challenge, Arizona in 2004 faced Utah's Alex Smith, Cal's Aaron Rodgers, USC's Matt Leinart, Oregon's Kellen Clemens and Oregon State's Derek Anderson.

2008 Kansas: Graham Harrell, Texas Tech; Sam Bradford, Oklahoma; Chase Daniel, Missouri; Josh Freeman, Kansas State; Colt McCoy, Texas ... OR ...
2008 Colorado: Pat White, West Virginia; Christian Ponder, Florida State; McCoy; Freeman; Daniel

2010 Texas Tech: Baylor's Robert Griffin III; Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden; Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill; Missouri's Blaine Gabbert; Oklahoma's Landry Jones.
All five went on to become NFL starters (of varying lengths).

"Can you recall a team that faced better QB talent in a single season?" 2002 LSU: Ben Roethlisberger, Miami of Ohio; Eli Manning, Ole Miss; Rex Grossman, Florida; Jason Campbell, Auburn; Chris Simms, Texas.
as an aside, that's over 500 NFL starts and counting, along with a few Super Bowl appearances

any other suggestions?

Yeah but the Texans got a sweet deal luring that QB away from Denver for such a small salary.  Future hall of fame for sure!  :)

No problemo. They can always pick up Romo once Dallas dumps him.
