If your a survival game person here's some i can recommend, there all in various stages of early access but playable with enough content currently.
Empyrion: Galactic Survival

Yeah, I have an AAR about that here called "Seven Days to Fly". I like it, too, but haven't felt like going back to it yet.

Subnautica- Survival in a mostly water world

Had this a while, been waiting for it to polish out a bit more before diving in so to speak.

7 Days to Die- Zombie survival- after 900+ hours i'm a wee bit burnt out of it, at least until the next big update.

I can relate; I've played a few dozen of those hours with you. ;) (And another several dozen more with other people or by myself.) I would like it a lot more if I had something to aim for other than to stave off suicide another day.

PAMELA- Futuristic survival in a city. not as much content as the others at this time.
Subsistence- kind of a real life survival so to speak, no zombies or monsters, just hunters and dangerous animals. Not as much content as the top 3.

I'm keeping an eye on both of those.

I also own ARK: Survival Evolved, and am preparing to do a campaign with that and Subnautica in parallel. In fact I tried to start my ARK campaign a few weeks ago already, and ran into a gamekilling bug I've never seen before in several dozen hours of play there already! -- I went up to a rock to see if it was decoration or something I could mine, found it to be decoration, but then also found I couldn't move out of the small depression in front of the rock that I had stepped into. It was only a foot deep or so, a mere ground variation, but it acted like a time-space trap. I tried everything I could think of to get out, but nothing worked. (Some things I could think of I couldn't try because I was at the start of the game and didn't have enough resources yet to attempt 'building' my way out.) I literally had to resign the campaign, or else wait around until I died from exposure or something ate me. 

I've had more than a little trouble trusting the game enough to start again on that, so I've been giving the team a chance for that bug to go through the stomping cycles.


I also own Factorio and Fortresscraft: Evolved, the latter of which I may start up again soon, too.


Also Don't Starve in several of its iterations since early access.

I'm downloading "The Forest" now, i'll see whats, what pretty soon.

I love the "Don't Starve " games, picked up shipwrecked a little bit ago, like that one also. I never seem to last a real long time in those games. Play a bit of Don't Starve Together' with my daughter.

Subnautica is in pretty good shape right now, I binged it a short time ago. The pacing seems pretty good, maybe a little too fast progression.

Damn the Forest is already done downloading, less then 5 minutes. Time to get the chores out of the way and see what its like.

Hmmmm, it might be time to jump on the Fallout 4 and 7 Days to Die bandwagons.  Those prices are pretty tasty.

Looks like i'm going to keep the Forest and not refund it. 2 hours isn't really enough time for a survival game, but i like what i see so far. Had to restart already because i thought it auto saved on exit, no you have to have a structure up to save the game. Built a hunters lean to thingy the first night, built a tree house for the second night with rope climbing access. The crafting system is pretty straight forward.Works off a plans system, pick a plan, place and get the required resources to fulfill the plan. The rest of the crafting is the usual combine items stuff. In the hour and half i've played its run fine with no fps drops or bugs that i've noticed so far, i have the settings pretty maxed out. There seems to be a stealth system but haven't tested it yet by hiding from the bad guys. I'm running out of food and water so i will have to go foraging. I've seen deer, rabbits and lizards so far, need to find fresh water and make something to carry it in. You'd think you could be lucky enough to crash on an island with friendly cannibals...."come on over we're having a barbecue" ....no, they have to be A**Holes.

You reminded me of a key point....the steam refund.  I am on the fence with a couple, probably no risk giving them a try for a couple of hours....probably will be Syrian Warfare and Friday the 13th (I know not everyone's cup of tea, but they recently added a bot single player mode that entices me---this horror series was my favorite as I grew up).
