Same here, other than dabbling around in France a time or two.  CK2 remains one of those games that I've never put in the time that it deserves (despite my sincere intentions to do so).

I imagine a Byzantine campaign would be both awesome and overwhelming.  So much going on...!

I don't think I've ever played a campaign outside the British Isles, aside from some dabbling in the Norse, Islamic, and Indian expansions when I first picked them up.  Something about England just fits my playstyle in grand strategy games...

The "shattered" mechanic adds a huge dimension to the game. I started this current game with one small county on the west coast of Wales. I built it up to a three county Duchy. Original Duke died, and now, his son (me) has the petty Kingdom title, and one county, with one bishophoric. My two bro's each inherited one county, both FAR richer than mine.

I am considering revoking their titles..but I can't really. They have more troops. At least they're staying in the family.

Plenty of infidel neighbors to wack with no bad-boy penalty.

Haven't played CK2 yet.  (I just keep buying the dlc.)

One of the settings of the new DLC is an UNLIMITED Casus Belli, for all other counties in the world. It can also be set for 25 or 100 years.

This is harder than it seems. You take over several counties, bad things happen when you keel over.

I wonder how much longer Paradox will ride the DLC gravy-train before they begin work on Crusader Kings III?  (And you *know* it has to be in the pipeline somewhere, even if it's only in the pre-planning stages; the franchise has become too successful for them to not continue it.) 

CK2 was released over seven years ago, which is a fair chunk of time by gaming standards.  While it's obviously done very well, it also suffers from some serious bloat, thanks at least partially to all the DLC.  It seems like some folks are feeling a bit of DLC "fatigue" as well. 


At some point, one has to start thinking about starting over by giving the series a fresh start with a new game.  Thoughts?

Same. I tend to stick with Britain or Ireland  ::)  I think its because of the Plantagenets, or the House of Wessex etc.  I once did Bohemia in the demo when it was out- but oddly I haven't done that. Hmmm.  Ditto for Scotland.

I used to play as Apulia - notably the Hautevilles back in the CK1 days. But I gotta ask when do they plan on stopping the DLCs?

I sure don't play as a paint the map either.  I think in Holy Fury I did a few plays- mostly 20 years or so. I had a Petty King of Kent, and he had three sons. 1st son was a dimwit, and managed to get himself killed in a "spear tossing contest." 2nd son, total jerk, managed to start a revolt. 3rd son was able to keep it together.  But I did something like forge a new sword. It was pretty neat. I don't think I did anything with the Norse...but that's me.

Do you remember which expansion allows you to create armor and swords? I don't have it, I wants it!

My fondest memory of CK2 was staying up late one night, playing through an England campaign and having war declared on me by one of my vassals, Fenris the Betrayer, who wanted to replace my ridiculously OP satan-worshipping king with one of his wimpy-ass uncles.  At the exact moment that the notification popped up, a metal song on my shuffle playlist came on where the vocalist starts out belting "TRAITOR, BETRAYER!"  The synchronicity was perfect - good times  ;D  Obviously Fenris didn't live much longer and neither did the rebellion...

M&M is decent overall, but I would disable the satanic cult because it's ridiculously game breaking.  Unless you wanna have a playthrough fucking around as a demon-worshipping badass who sacrifices his children to Moloch for eternal life
