The martial arts sequences in the Acolyte were pretty good but it did suffer from a storyline that didn't move forward well at times.
My son told me that it has been cancelled.

Thanks for sharing, had some good information until he got on his soapbox about being not being a fanboy when previewing games:)  From a game standpoint, pretty much what I expected and still have plans to buy for Xbox myself, moving closer to day one purchase.  I knew this wasn't game of the year for me, just looks like it may be a good time in Star Wars universe and that is all I am looking for.  As he stated, probably somewhere between a 6-8 rating, which is totally fine for me, not everything is a 10:)

I have not had a chance to watch it yet. I watched all the other tv series and after the last live action one with the weird galaxy gate whales finally completely lost the will to watch anymore star wars series. I won't go out of my way to see the acolyte either after reading this. It can wait.

It has indeed been canceled.

The martial art sequences looked okay but, as a rule, weren't planned out well. Starting with the infamous first episode duel, where a crazy amount of sandbagging was necessary to even pretend that a Jedi could possibly be killed by a wuxia wire-fu throwing dagger. By far not the only problem with the fight choreography. If the show wasn't overtly bragging in your face about the swass wuxia they're putting up, I'd be more forgiving about this; but as with many other things in SW (and Disney more generally in recent years), it's just surface glitter thrown at a wall without regard about how much will stick.

That being said, like every other geek on the face of the planet, I'd be happy if Outlaws turns out to be a good entry. It sort of seems like a vastly updated version of the original "Dark Forces" idea, which come to think of it got a recent remaster, didn't it? Probably not a coincidence!

Believe tomorrow (8/26), the review embargos lift at 8am.  After continuing to monitor, I am fairly close to this not only being a day one purchase, but buying the version that gives you early access:)  Assuming the reviews tomorrow confirm what has already been released/discussed, I'll likely pull the trigger.  Just can't stay away from Star Wars, I knew I would collapse as we got closer:)

Hi everyone, I am actually a bit excited about this one even though I am not expecting anything better than Assassins Creed Odyssey in a Star Wars setting.

But, it's Star Wars, during the original trilogy timeline and your PC isn't a Jedi. What more can I want?

Agreed, maintaining my expectations, but think it will be fine for me, and assuming the reviews are reasonable today, will be picking up so can start playing tomorrow:)  I figure I would buy the expansions anyway so might as well pickup the gold version now.

Game seems to be very divisive. Opinions are ranging from I really like it to its the worst game I've played in 2024.

I'm skipping it.

Space Marine 2 can't come soon enough!
