The master modes is pretty hotly contested in the community. It was an attempt to mold combat into something beyond everyone jousting back n forth at high speed.

All it's done is flip the meta. Now everyone looks for the fastest ships, which are really lite weight fighters, and run everyone down before they can switch to the mode to quantum away.

I haven't spent any time with it really, just watched a bunch of streamers take on it.  Could be not a big deal.

Tbh I thought combat was fine the way it was.  They spent so much time on the master modes, it looks like a reinventing the wheel situation here.  I'd rather they invested the time into AI crewman.

Before 3.23, I played a bunch, figured out how to capture AI ships with the AI still in the turrets.  It was a small taste of how fun large ships will be with all your turrets manned with AI.

I completely agree. However I must admit that I do like being a little closer to the action now that ships are slower. You get to see the enemy ships at closer ranges for longer and you dogfight a little more than previously. It's more possible than before to circle onto somebodies tail. Also keeps little ships in range of less manoeverable ships turrets for longer, because bullets and laser bolts still travel at the same speeds as before. Less boom n zoom and more circling around targets.

Yeah, I'll have to try it out for myself.  With, the DCS phantom releasing, not sure I'll get around to it.  Especially after a wipe, seems less enticing starting over.

Apparently, the top dogfighter guys claim that the Drake Buccaneer is the new meta ship.  Basically, any ship classed as interceptor will have the top speed and maneuverability.  Interesting cause the Bucc has sucked for years, now it's the best fighter in the game. It'll probably change again though.

I'm Usually a die hard starcitizen fanboi, but the development this past year has been a step backwards.

None of it has gotten my attention to play, in fact it's so tedious now with the engineering and copilot play that large ships suck.  The cargo hauling sucks as you have to move each box by hand with a tractor beam, it's boring and like a fulltime job.

The mastermode versus anti-mastermode is still real and causing all kinds of community conflict, personally I think it was a waste of time.

The thousand pound gorilla in the room when chris gets on stage is that the game engine is already obsolete and needs to be redone with all the modern technology out there like DLSS and nvidia AI.

Recently, a well written post criticizing the state of the game sent shockwaves through the community and voiced most fans frustrations.  None of this will be discussed at citcon.  It'll be everything is great, buy more ships.

Did I hear it correctly that Chris said SQ42 won't be coming out until 2026?!

I think you did. That probably means late 2026 with an obligatory delay being announced about that time... so 2027 I'd say. Question then becomes whether Chris will even be able to play his own game by then, how old will he be?

I've been with Star Citizen since June 2014. That is over ten years. I think I can say that for the first time, I'm frustrated and feel like I'm being lied to. There is no excuse for not having SQ42 playable at this point. Every CitizenCon it turns into another fucking 2 years. I'm officially pissed now.

I should take a job there. Seems pretty easy going with the deadlines.

One year ago :

CIG have announced that Squadron 42 is now feature complete.  This weekend's CitizenCon featured an extensive showcase for the upcoming single-player space game campaign.

I kinda got the same frustrated feeling, the feeling that they have to make excuses every year. I expected squadron42 to be out within 6minths in leu of server mesh not being ready.

But I am now hoping that pyro jumping will soon be ready and I will forget a out squadron42 for a bit.

The Stars My Destination: Star Citizen 1.0 is another presentation from CitizenCon 2954, this time outlining what's expected in version 1.0 of Star Citizen.

And the "what" is plentiful in the 78 minute video, but the "when" is scarce, as there's no outlook on when to expect the space exploration simulation, which is at Alpha version 4.0 after 12+ years of development.
The showing includes word that the game will launch with five explorable systems and the explanation that this will actually represent more content than the 100 systems promised as a Kickstarter stretch goal. The response suggests the audience is happy with all the news, and content to wait however long it takes for it to come together.

Also no news if Star Citizen 1.0 will run on Windows 16  .

I dropped out quite some time ago. I have nothing but admiration for you lot who stayed with it  :notworthy:

I had a different experience to you all.
