Mysterious flying objects overhead. Concern and confusion. And calls for military intervention.

This isn't the plot of "War of the Worlds," but rather the result of numerous unidentified drone sightings on the East Coast in recent weeks. The drones have been spotted over residential neighborhoods, restricted sites, and critical infrastructure.

The sightings have put intense pressure on federal agencies to provide more information about the aircraft, as officials have urged calm and emphasized there is no evidence suggesting the sightings pose a security threat.

I've been hearing and reading rumblings about this for awhile but haven't seen too much heavy coverage...  this is the first time I've seen it headlined on a major news network (but my net is fairly small).

Either way... what the hell is up with this?!  My guess is it's some type of AI drone defense system the Navy is developing that either got out-of-hand or something unexpected happened and they aren't sure how to stop it.  Or maybe it's just "routine" testing.  Seems like somebody would come out and just say something...

Anybody in position right now to answer this:

My hunch is that the Government or military is conducting tests on using drones as a platform for radioactivity scanning.

I'm very close to ground zero on this so I've been doing a lot of research.

This is why I asked here.   :Nerd:  :peace:  :beermug[1]:

The question is, why would first responders need to be wearing full PPE in order to approach downed drones?

It's interesting to me the location it's happening.  I remember about 12 years ago being in Hawaii for a wedding and I saw this crazy streak pattern in the sky and I found out the next day it was some kind of missile or missile defense test.  That makes sense conducting tests out far where not a huge number of people will see it first-hand (although with social media these days...) but why New Jersey and around there?  I guess maybe they've already done the Hawaii tests and are closer to primetime?

Whoa.

Quote"This is a law enforcement incident, extinguish any fire and secure the perimeter," the bulletin reads. "Be aware that electronic devices and two-way radio systems may malfunction in the immediate area."

The drones are operating over and around the Picatinny Arsenal, Earle Naval Weapons Station, the Salem Nuclear Power Plant and the adjacent Hope Creek Generating Station. All facilities that have nuclear weapons and or radioactive elements.

Regardless of the purpose, there isn't anything clandestine about these aircraft/drones. They are lit up and easy to spot. It is hard to conclude that there could be anything nefarious about them. The government makes it worse by refusing to acknowledge who is operating them and what purpose for which they are being operated. It is causing fear, conspiracy theories and anxiety. People are starting to get angry and they are therefore overreacting.

Many of the footage I've seen just look like airplanes on approach to me.

I live rather close to Brussels airport and I see these rather often.
When the plane is on approach their lights seem to hang in place.

Once these sightings get reported by the media, more people look up and more people see things.

Some might be drones, but if I wanted to keep something secret I wouldn't put up that many lights on it.

It reminds me of the increase of UFO sightings when Venus is visible.

Yeah I definitely wasn't trying to imply there is anything nefarious or shady going on here, I'm just trying to figure out why the hell there's stuff flying over sensitive areas of our country and nobody in an official position is giving answers to it.  Actually that's a stupid question.  I'm just trying to find out what's going on and make sure there's no danger or anything. Which could easily be solved with a public statement of some sort.

Some are manned aircraft for sure. Many are drones though. I've seen them with my own eyes. I know the difference.

That's cool that you live close enough around there to have eyewitness footage.  Some of the footage I've seen online is wild but it's really hard to tell between what's real and fake (in some cases).

Never seen him before but this is my kinda guy...  Les Paul and Marshall half-stacks in the background.

This story is reminding me of the leadup to the kind of craziness in that Netflix movie with Julia Roberts where communications and society suddenly break down.  This guy is mentioning stuff like "Red Cell" splinter group testing...?

It's strange if you know you're going to be doing testing like this that you don't warn people a little in advance (or have a statement ready) about the "advanced weather detection" systems you're going to be testing to the next days/weeks/months.  Again I don't mean this in some shadow conspiracy kind of way, I just wonder if someone screwed up along the lines here and the responsible people just aren't sure how to react/what to report (or how to shut it off lol).
