It's confirmed. A lot of resources are being pulled off features they have been working on and simply going into stability. The first 5 minites of this star citizen live are worth listening to just for that little piece of news.
Now that we have Pyro I am a lot more relaxed about them finally slowing down enough to make the game enjoyable.
If they pull it off, making the game stable should also quiet a lot of critics and bring players back.

I think the big bench mark for me is AI crew.  They need to put resources into that, otherwise, what's the point of selling all these fancy ships that can't be solo'd.  I always hear them say other players are going to be your crew, but I'm sorry, that's just too boring for the other people.  It's like carpooling, do you really want to carpool or go your own way.  I do enjoy playing SC with a group, but we've found that a multi ship group is more effective than a bunch of dudes in one ship.  TBH I can care less about pyro, I'd rather have more gameplay loops fleshed out.

I agree. Multiship rather than multicrew is more fun and more effective currently. However I find that multicrew "car-pooling" is a lot of fun if you feel like down time after work. It's kind of like hanging out. Their are two people I play with that just like to turret gun. One has recently found he has a nerve disease that makes him shake too much for flying himself most days. So there is definitely a place for car-pooling.

What I want from star citizen to stop the need for car pooling is some basic AI crew that can be replaced through an invite system by humans when you need them.

When it comes to PYRO I really needed that to happen. It was the last piece of the puzzle to being able to finish the game. Now it really is just a matter of time and praying that the developer does not go broke in the mean time. Besides I we had been in stanton for 14 years, it was getting stale.

"developer goes broke in the mean time"... don't get me started on that one.  CIG might need Elon and Doge to come through and clean house to right the ship at CIG, and it'd probably start with fire Chris or promote him to a totally hands off position.  I think that's what's so frustrating, the game has potential to be lightening in a bottle, but some how Chris and co found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Destraex

I think rather the opposite. I think star citizen would not exist without being immune to the kind of cut throat corporate budget expectations and timelines. Nobody would be crazy enough to sign off on a project like Chis's.
I think they have done well while dragging s bunch of other competitors with them.

4.0.2 is out and I've been playing around with it. Seems to be running smoothly and everything I've tried appears to be working. I'm still not sure what to make of the game world though. There is no direction and it is hard to figure out what contracts to take as a solo player, particularly when you don't know what is what or how the newer systems function, ie. cargo, salvage, etc.

I end up walking around, maybe traveling from a planet to a station, but never really doing much else. I'm pissed that there is still no Squadron 42. They should have made that first.

Sounds exactly like my experience and thoughts.

^Chris is a visionary. What I mean by that is, he has visions, or illusions maybe more appropriate. There is no way SC will be finished by 2027. Even 2028 is a stretch, but it is hard to say what is being accomplished behind the scenes. I'll be very pleasantly shocked if we see Squadron 42 in 2026, too.

Sometimes timing and the strike while the iron is hot is very relevant in video games.  After seeing the latest update in no man's sky and all the additions to elite, I feel like time ticking by just allows other franchises to steel star Citizens thunder.

I've heard some rumblings that the code that SC is built on is so old and obsolete, that it needs to totally be redone.  That's why basic shit like elevators won't work.  This whole decades long development is not how things are done in the tech world, but that's the problem with someone like Chris running the project.  A real game developer needs to take this over and salvage the mess.

Whatever happens, you have to admit that SC has had a good effect on the "competition". I really doubt they would be bothering without SC in the lead.

Citizencon wrap up starts at 31 minutes for those interested. Two star systems in one year is pretty big as is 700 players at once in the same area.
