Well that was a good session, lots of action happening all around and we are making excellent headway. There were a lot of good assaults and the artillery was finally starting to make a difference. We are making good progress throughout the map, cleaning out a lot of Viet Minh areas and even managed to find some headquarters and various supply depots. We're creeping up to a Minor Victory, but we're not there yet. Still a few minor pockets that need to be dealt with before we wrap this up. Exciting times!

Well that hasn't happened to me in decades, the lack of RAM issue. I was working on a scenario prior to launch today and during one of the replays the screen broke up. Fortunately, a save and restart remedied it, but alas, we missed one of the Germans turn. That being said, we are making excellent, but bloody, progress into the rear of the Germans. The city fighting is absolutely brutal, with vicious counterattacks by the Germans. The bright side to that is the ability for my follow on forces to counterattack and show the Germans some pain.

After a brief run down on the planning for JTCS 2.03 and a current update on the Campaign Series Cold War game, we returned to finish off the Street Without Joy scenario. We were quite successful and finished the scenario with a major victory, capturing the final locations before the end of the scenario to ensure the Event Points were successfully added. Since we had time, we played Hoa Binh 2 which takes place with the French in 1951. It's a fun little scenario that went to the bitter end. Even though the Vietnam irregulars weren't the strongest, they were still a pain the rear to weed out of the mountain pass. How I longed for gunships indeed!

I've been having some CTD issues which has been frustrating. I'll get pretty far into a scenario and then out of nowhere, boom, I'm back on the desktop. No warning or error message or anything.

Hmm, that's odd indeed.

Any chance you could clear your log files and then post your log files if it happens again?

Is that with the latest 2.00.03 version, JH? I am not aware of any CTD issues affecting a larger amount of players, any extra intel hunting this down would be appreciated. There was a CTD issue earler, for instance when assaulting and capturing an enemy hex with enemy air units aloft present.

Yes. Most current version. I can give you scenario info. for latest crash if that would be helpful.

Sorry for the delay in following up.

The scenario where I last had CTDs is The Mauling: Battle of Ap Nha Mat December 5, 1965.

I was playing as Side A (USA). I don't recall what turn I was on, but I was probably on turn 10-12 of the scenario. The gunships had been released from Lei Khe Airfield and at the time of the last CTD, were nearing Phase Line Colorado in the AO. They had not engaged or been engaged yet. I remember being frustrated because they were about to kick some ass.

I can send the last save file, but I'm not sure how many turns before the CTD the save file is.

Sending the save file and the LOGS file (in the Logs folder) would be extremely valuable.

We took some time to go over what's coming with the JTCS 2.03 UPDATE as well as the Campaign Series Middle East and Vietnam UPDATES. I showed off the latest rabbit hole I've been working on with the East Germans and then we dove into a Campaign Series Vietnam scenario The Mauling, which is a clearing operation in 1965. The scenario went extremely well, but I shared a wackload of valuable lessons to be learned when playing as the US Infantry. All that ample support made our job a lot easier, that's for sure.

Back into the groove of the scenario. The city fighting for the last points outside of Aachen is definitely heating up. Losses are increasing for both sides, but we're making some good progress. I have the cavalry heading to the north to ram the Germans from the south while I've encircled the other two remaining objectives. It's still a bloody affair and this turn definitely showed that. I also started off with the latest and greatest news in regards to the pending 2.03 UPDATE for JTCS. Exciting times to be had!
