Valentine's Day

Pretty much never watching TV or listening to the radio meant I had completely forgotten about Valentine's Day...until getting to work and finding the lunch room jammed with cupcakes, candy and all sorts of other sugary crap. We spent the entire shift locked firmly within a sugar coma.  ;D

I have convinced the (future) Wife, that Valentine's Day is nothing more than a made up holiday that makes the card and candy companies rich.  If I need a mandatory day to show her how much I feel about her, then I don't need to be with her.  Each day is a joy and I try to find some way to show her how much she means to me.  So, no Valentine's Day crap in this house [/rantoff]

Seriously MD, I'm starting to think someone cloned your brain and had it surgically implanted into my own skull at birth -- such is the frequency with which my thoughts seem to echo your own... 

No kidding, those are precisely my own feelings on Valentine's Day.  Happily, my not-girlfriend's views on Feb. 14 are very similar -- she couldn't care less, it's just another day to her -- so no pressure for me.  :)

After being together for 44 years, and married for 39, we don't bother too much with the Valentines stuff. The fact that we're still together and happy must prove something.

Forty-four years?!  Holy crud, you must be even more ancient than I imagined!  :P 

Seriously, though, congrats on you and the missus.  May you enjoy many more years together.  8)

Congrats on the longevity of your relationship, Bob. It seems like most people nowadays don't stay married to the same person that long. I envy you.
