Border Relations part II_v2 by Rhyfel

Mission Summary
This is part 2 of "Border relations". You take the role of Alpha company: Alpha penetrates the defenses at BP3 to establish an ambush along HWY 102 to destroy the 2/115th.  Once the 2/115th is destroyed Alpha clears CP4 on OBJ Bull East.

Map

Excerpts of the battalion commander's orders for...BLUEFOR

GENERAL SITUATION: Gordonian Forces were repelled in their attempts to seize OBJ Ant.  Delta company's success on OBJ Lions made the Gordonian Force positions on OBJ Bull and further south untenable.  Gordonian forces were seen maneuvering to the north from 770 210 in Battalion strength.  Signal intercepts and movement indicate Gordonian forces withdrawing to the north to BP4.   Charlie Troop 1-9 CAV is assisting in isolating OBJ Bull for Bandit Company's impending clearance.
Alpha Company has just maneuvered down LN Strahan to their ASLT POS.

TASK ORGANIZATION:

   1. Alpha Company with 1/C Tank attached (x4 plows)
   2. 1/D Tank, upon request (-200 points to score if deployed)
   3. 7/A ENG Section with x2 Miclic and UGV
   4. 5/A is the XO with attached company logistical trains

Area of Operations: Your area of operations is the Company Boundary to the north with Delta 3-67 AR, to PL N. Carolina to the south.  Additionally, Charlie company borders you on the south.

Area of Interest: Enemy has no CAS. Enemy retains x2 2S1s at Company level, x6 2S1s at the BN level and a battery of BM-21s with ICM and FASCAM at the BDE level.  Trigger to launch indirect is a NATO attack eastward from the international border.

DIV has a battery of BM-21s equipped with HE, FASCAM, ICM and non-persistant chemical agents.

TERRAIN:

Obstacles: Upatoi and Kings Creek canalize movement to a BN sized mobility corridor running east to west.  Additionally, Halluca Creek restricted mounted maneuver to a platoon column formation at vic grid 0872 8106.  Existing tactical obstacles from historical border operations located at 107 920 and 144 771.  Scouts vic Bush Hill observed FASCAM being emplaced vic 173 844 and 173 823.

Delta emplaced a scatter minefield vic GRID 166 895 in order to prevent envelopment from the north.

Avenues of Approach: three running east to west.  One from OBJ Lions to CP4.  Second from Bush Hill to CP4.  Third from Bush hill to CP6.

HWY 103 is a company sized mobility corridor offering mounted maneuver in column formation up to 25 kph.  HWY 102 is a north south company sized mobility corrider with speeds up to 25 kph in column formation.

Key Terrain: River Crossings: Grids: 1377 8861, 1180 8759, 1689 8154.  These three river crossings control maneuver across the international border.  Bush hill (162 829) Dominates eastern road networks and river crossing sites.  CP4 controls two mobility corridors from OBJ Lions to OBJ Bull, or OBJ Bull to BP4.

The high ground at 186 846 offers observation out to 2km and dominates the east west avenue of approach.

Observation, Fields of Fire: Ranges can be limited to 50 meters in heavily wooded areas, recommend dismounted support to mechanized vehicles.  Hills over the elevation of 190 meters, vehicles can expect engagement ranges out to max effective range.

Cover and Concealment: IV lines will offer best cover and concealment for mounted forces.  Heavy wooded areas on OBJ Bull and vic CP 5 favor dismounted infiltration and ambush.

WEATHER DATA: Expect daily high temperatures near 45 degrees, and low temperatures near 30.  Humidity will be near 20 percent.  Winds will be 15-20 knots from the NW.  There has been heavy precipitation in the past 2 days, and precipitation is expected during the operation. Vehicles should avoid swampy lowlying areas.  Rain will also dimish the capability of non-persistant agents.  However, precipitation will wash chemical agents to low lying areas.  Cloud ceiling has been as low as 3000 feet during morning hours, but has lifted to 5000 by late afternoon favoring the late employment of close combat attack air (CCA).

ENEMY SITUATION: Elements from the 115th Brigade Tactical Group are moving north along the Kazarian border with one battalion. The 2/115th BN is seeking to reinforce BP4 with x2 Companies of T-72 tanks and x3 companies of mechanzied infantry armed with BTR-80s.  A mechanized company comprised of T-80s and BMP-2s is guarding from BP3 to destroy friendly forces in order to allow the 2/115th to withdraw underpressure to BP4.  The mechanized company defending OBJ Bull and BP3 was reinforced with a scout platoon and infantry platoon to assist in retaining OBJ Bull.

The Enemy BDE is allocating all available indirect fire support to enable the withdraw.  Expect heavy resistance.

FRIENDY FORCES: 3-67 AR destroys remaining elements of the 115th BTG in EA Slam and OBJ Bull. Delta Company blocks HWY 103. Alpha Company maneuvers along LN Strahan to RP vic Bush Hill.  Alpha then penetrates the defenses at BP3 to establish an ambush along HWY 102 to destroy the 2/115th.  Once the 2/115th is destroyed Alpha clears CP4 on OBJ Bull East. Upon clearing CP4, Bandit will begin clearing OBJ Bull West.

You are Alpha Company.

Alpha Commander, you have the most difficult mission in the Battalion and its importance cannot be over stated as you will destroying the 2/115th BN as it attempts to withdraw to BP4.  You will maneuver along LN Strahan and penetrate the enemy's guard force in BP3 then occupy ambush positions to destroy the enemy in EA Slam.  You must be in position to by H-Hour to destroy the 2/115th BTG, as Bandit will begin clearing OBJ Bull and enemy forces will seek to retrograde to the north.

You have 1/D at your disposal, but only call them if the need is dire.  Division is attempting to bring CCA to assist but no word on the request.

Coordinating Instructions:

   X2 preplan targets: AB0001, AB0002
   HE, SMK, ICM available
x1 Air Strike at AB0301 Trigger (Task Force control, non-deployable)
   FASCAM TGT x1 AB0201

(mines will only be active for 30 mins in order to prevent disruption to friendly force follow on operations)
Alpha Company Deploys in ASLT POS Angel

Priority Intelligence Requirements:

   1. Is the enemy reinforcing BP3?  Indicator: x3 BMP2s moving northwest on HWY 103, east of CP4.
        2. Will the enemy  bypass EA slam? x2 Companies moving northwest on HWY 103

Good Luck commander!

CompletedPart 2 :http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php?topic=203.0

Mission Summary / Description (from the designer):
"The final installment of the Border Relations Scenarios on the updated Fort Benning Map. Part 3 is not for the faint of heart. The scenario involves a combined arms breach of a complex, enemy obstacle along canalizing terrain. I designed this scenario based upon the breaching tenets (IFOMs) and fundamentals (SOSRA). You will need MICLIC and AVLB experience to complete. Recommend a minimum of three players. Scenario will take 90-120 min. You must conduct a combined arms breach with a MICLIC so advanced SB skill is recommended.." Rhyfel

Biggest hump is remapping all those damn keys again.  The default layout sucks.

This has become a common occurrence lately, with my Sim updates.  Gotta do the same with ROF and IL-2:BOS.  >:(    Pretty sure I've saved the key map backups somewhere for all three but dunno how many will work properly.  I'm assuming the SB Pro one will (if I can find it).
