Thanks for the feedback, we'll see....certainly won't be in a rush and will take my time to hear some of the feedback first.

Nefaro

The infantry is still screwed up?  That's sad.

I recall having them get stuck, numerous times, when trying to get them back into Bradleys.  Was pretty frustrating.   :knuppel2:

Apparently some work was put into improving dismounted pathfinding in 4.0, but overall the lack of control over infantry (riflemen/Light AT) and their poor engagement logic is disturbing and disruptive for any mounted/dismounted combined action.

Still torn if I will buy this version until all pieces are available...likely will wait for some feedback first.

Performance hit for 4.0.

this may be game breaking for folks with older rigs.

Grim.Reaper

That's good to know....guessing my machine is probably good enough, although it says most system types were impacted, regardless of configuration.

Certainly will wait to see how it impacts folks.....

Asid

If anyone wants to check if their system will handle V4.0 then drop me a pm.

I will help you do a real time test by running V4.0 on your system.

Apocalypse 31

Quoteif you want to know, a few more game-breaking crash bugs were found, and is in the process of being fixed.  so if you want to have the best possible experience with the new SB version, oil yourself well up with a bit more patience and sit tight.

and this

QuoteNo crashes, as far as we know. It's more like changes that we did to improve certain things that turned out to have a big disadvantage that we just discovered, and that combined with a compiler bug.

Why do these things always have to come up at the last minute? o.O

Regardless, I have faith in the team's ability to handle this, but of course this pushes us back about a day.

Update for V4.0 release

The V4.0 will be released next week (if there is no issue)

From the devs (Ssnake)

QuoteAs much as I hate breaking the news, the prudent decision is to delay the release until after the weekend. Time and again we saw on past occasions that skipping tests after some last minute changes usually results in problems for the customer. I'm sorry for all of you who made plans for the weekend based on a 4.0 release, but in the end I think that we're better off avoiding a mad dash with our hair on fire, and simply keeping our finger crossed and our eyes firmly closed.

Now, with this disturbing image burned into your memories (what has been seen cannot be unseen!) ... we shall kick the tires some more over the weekend and wait until early next week before making it available to you.

I think this is the right thing to do.

Can't say I am surprised based on how things have been unfolding with the release...gives me more time to consider before being tempted:)

No Man's Sky releases on Monday, and the Squad v7 patch comes out sometime next week. At this point, if it was delayed even further I wouldnt mind. I estimate that No Man's Sky is going to consume me (and others, I'm sure!)

D.O.W. Saturday Mission 06/08/16 @ GMT19:00

Campaign continuation

Battles of Suomussalmi part 3 by Lumi

This scenario is a simulation and does not have any political message.

Mission Summary :
Training for end of day being cancelled because of accident that happened moments ago. Rescue party is being assembled, and Dow platoon is going to take part to this emergency rescue operation

Map

Link to paper map of the area

Excerpts of the battalion commander's (HAVOC 6) orders for...BLUEFOR (D.O.W.)

1) SITUATION:

a) Enemy: ~

b) Own:
- Four Patria Sisu XA-180 PCs, and Command vehicle

c) Attachments and detachments:
- Repair / recovery vehicle and Ambulance at call.
- Border guard Chopper being send to area from Kuusamo to help, ETA 50+ mins

2) MISSION:
Two hours ago, our border patrol helicopter which was on a routine check with thermal camera, reported have seen numerous heat signatures, most apparently from vehicles. Soon after that message we lost contact with the helicopter on both radio and radar.

This chopper was following the usual route from Alavuokki to Kokkovaara and eventually to Mierolaisen aho. Contact was lost somewhere over Alavuokki.

We have many reasons to assume that something else happened rather than just radio communication troubles, the least of which is that Russia has many times trespassed into our territory and harassed our airspace. They are testing our nerves and patience, knowing full well that we don't have much chance to provide evidence of those incursions.

During the last few months the situation has become hot, that is why you are here. We hope that possible conflict can be avoided, but so far the behaviour of our eastern neighbour is making it very difficult. Likewise, because of the financial status of the European Union it is unlikely that we will receive any help from there, unless we can give actual proof of hostile actions towards our forces, inside our borders.

We have reason to believe that our border patrol helicopter saw something critical and was shot down.

We need proofs

3) EXECUTION:

Intent:
Find that chopper, rescue any survivors, and gather as much evidence as possible, whether it would be photos taken from crash site, parts of possible missiles or other incriminating evidence.

Rescue and bring to safety any survivors and possible evidence

-> The border guard chopper was heading north from Alavuokki towards Kokkovaara when we lost both radio and radar contact with it.

Sergeant Cliff will lead Dog's of war group on this rescue mission

--------

We should have no contacts with any kind of force exxept our own.

In case there is: - Report immebiately and remember return fire only.

In worst case scenario of hostile contact - get yourself and all men's out of there in one piece as fast as you can.

We have approximately two hours before sunset and we have limited amount of NGV equipment
