Software often does still come with documentation these days, you know! 😜😄 RTFM!

However, if pilots would need to do daily what they are capable of doing, nobody would dare to fly anymore."

Manual reading honestly isn't helpful for me at all. I seem to have zero memory retention nowadays and so what I just read doesn't stay in. So having a printed one helps a great deal because I can read as required (i.e. when I'm playing)

I have a ridiculously bad memory. I can be reading in bed and actually have to go back and re-read a paragraph or a page because I can't remember what I just read.

Having a print is really the only option when gaming which is what I was trying to do. Asid pointed out there was a handy keyboard pdf. I thought the options to export were my only option at the time.

Just having a friendly go at you, JD. No  worries :)
The first thing I do with sims, these days, is try to find a key layout. Remembering all those combo's gets harder for me as well.

lol - I honestly question whether it's worth me reading books anymore. Especially historical.  :'(

I had played SB before and I remember there not being an awful lot of keys to know of...as Asid pointed out. However, in game, the keys that I could remember weren't working (F8 for view for example, or moving to the Commanders position (F7?).

However, I had forgotten that the Instant Action and the Tutorials are focussed to keep you were you are meant to be in them...that's when I thought I needed to get these keys printed out because I had thought they might have changed or at least changed between vehicles.

Keep having trouble with the game recognizing my mouse when trying to use it for gunnery control.
Searched google and only found a couple comments, recommended checking the disable joystick box in control settings on and off, but this does not seem to fix it.
It did work a few times, when I unplugged my Xbox controller prior to starting the game up but now even that doesn't work.
I can play with my CH stick, but I prefer the mouse + keyboard as that was what I used with the original SB.
Picked up a month sub to try the new version out but this is off-putting.
Any ideas?

Hi Bardolph

Make sure you have no other devices plugged in which can act as a controller. You can also set the controls to "Default" in the main menu. You can also select "disable joystick".

Let me know if you continue to have issues. If you have Teamspeak then I can assist faster.

Hi Asid,

Only thing plugged in USB apart from mouse and keyboard is a USB cable that goes to my steering wheel setup but it is disconnected at the wheel end.
Have tried the disable joystick setting in combination with both joystick and other controller selected to no avail.

The weird thing is it did work a couple of times. Would not work in full screen at all but I got it working a few times in windowed mode but now I can't seem to get it working at all.

Will probably re-sub or just outright buy it at some point soon anyway. I had forgotten how good it is and spent waaaaaay too much time trying to get the old version to run on Windows versions since XP. Still have an old laptop with it installed that I would break out every now and then for a fix.

Cheers!

I still have a decent memory, but have been doing that a lot in recent years, too.

But it may be more to due my train of thought wandering off, beginning to think of something else while I'm still reading.  Happens a lot when I'm watching a movie or something, too.

Not so much a panic derail (e.g. "Did I leave the oven on last night?!") but thinking of other things I want or need to do, and inadvertently plotting the Evil Plans™ to accomplish them, right then & there.  Or even having a sentence remind me of an old memory which instantly shoots into the forefront of my consciousness & takes over.

Even worse because I just cannot multi-task.  Can barely even talk when I'm concentrating on something.  But my brain will still be trying to do it, and completely fail at some part(s).

Senile ADD?   :hide:

Maybe that's what you got, too!  :crazy2:

If you can read only a single chapter in the user's manual, pick chapter 8. It explains most of why computer-controlled units do what (or why they might fail to do whate you'd expect them to do). If you can read two chapters, pick the section about file locations in the "Installation" chapter. These are the non-intuitive parts. Also, you may want to bookmark the SB Wiki. It's a pretty useful online reference.

I for the life of me can't see what changed between 4.006 and 4.009.  Is that spelled out anywhere or is it the usual deciphering needed to suss it out?

Bardolph

Thanks for the heads up Asid. I went ahead and sprung for a year sub. We figured out my issue had to do with my Xbox controller and USB somehow. I have to unplug it and reboot my computer in order to use my mouse in the game but at least it does work. Hopefully they can figure it out at some point and patch it.

Cheers!
