Just finished a scenario of Age of Wonders III. Now...do I start a new one or do I start up Shadow of Mordor?

were you winning?

Actually, yes. Though it's hard to believe that he would blow me off over that.

He taught me how to play For the People and we played the hell out of that game for at least a year in Vassal. It takes a lot of skill to play the South well, so after the first few games I took them almost exclusively in the hopes of improving my game. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we played it in the neighborhood of 50 times. In those games, I was the Rebels about 40 times and only won once, primarily due to some amazing luck and a big mistake on his part.

I took part in the tournament at WBC 2013. While I was eliminated in the first round, I did get to play and watch some very good players, as well as observing part of the final game of the best player in the world. We played once more after I got home, and I had a pretty solid victory as the South. He said something along the lines that I outplayed him consistently throughout the game. And that was the last time we faced off.

I did much better at WBC 2014. I think there were about 28 players and I tied for 4th place with the brother of the best player in the world. (I give more details in my WBC thread in the Conventions section)

I should apologize again for starting this thread a day early. I could have sworn that the Friday thread is pretty consistently started early but a quick check confirms that at least the last three were started on Fridays. I could have sworn that I always see it on Thursday or even Wednesday!

No need to apologize Ubercat.  I was really just teasing.  I think it's great everyone is using songs.  Gives a bit of insight into what people like.

Since it looks like my planned hurricane party this weekend is going to be a bust, I'm hoping to get in some CK2 and something else in between surf sessions.

A scenario?  You didn't play a sandbox game?  ???

Silent Disapproval Robot

Just finished my sandbox game with an Alliance win.  1 human and 3 AI on a large sized world with surface and subterranean levels.  I played as the dwarves and allied with the orcs early on.  I got into a war with the goblins and slapped them around good.  I didn't even meet the 3rd AI player until very late in the game.  Some purple elf chick.  She offered to make an alliance and I agreed.  As I was already allied with the orcs, the game ended on turn 106 with group hugs all around.

Just fired up another scenario with more AI players and me playing as the Draconians this time around.  I think I may pick up the hobbit DLC after this play through if I'm still enjoying the game.

are you reading the calendar at the same time?
lmao - I thought you meant if you have the patience to read the World in Flames manuals, you could probably enjoy reading the calendar!  ;D

Wasteland 2: Most of my time will probably spent with this. Just finished up Ag Center. Going around to all the areas there that where previously inaccessible looking for loot then its off to see if there is anything left of Highpool.

Command: Beta testing and starting work on my revised Operation Dreamland scenario.

Distant Worlds: Work on the next part of my AAR that I have been procrastinating on  ::)

Crusader Kings 2: Probably play for a few hours. Still not sure what I think of the new DLC. I haven't run into any major bugs but the game play has kind of disappointing. Started a few test games as Charlemagne. Within the first few years of all of them, I was forced to accept elective monarchy by my vassals. I tired fighting a few out, but several of my more powerful dukes and counts where involved and I got ripped apart. Since elective monarchy wasn't even a concept at the time, I find it really annoying, especially since as far as I can see there is no way to avoid it.

Kerbal Space Program and Xenonauts will each probably see a few hours of time as well.
PanzersEast: Have to think to myself.... will I play the first one by the Winter Sale?  Probably not, then I should remove Dragonfall
PanzersEast: but that is thinking too logically.... and Steam Sales are about ignoring Logic

A new patch recently came out. It has a very long list of improvements, though I'm still waiting for definitive feedback on how much it improves the game. There have been people playing for many months and claiming that the current bugs are pretty minor.
...
We could fire up a PBEM and maybe get...oh...wait....  :(

Well - we could maybe start a Netplay session and get som....oh...wait....  :(

Well....we could always be sad sacks and play by ourselves  ;D

Congrats on getting a Friday thread started Uber - even if you did bend the rules  :P

For me I think this
Combat Mission:Shock Force - continue my German campaign
Combat Mission:Red Thunder - continue my PBEM with Cyrano (if he gets his turn in!  :P)
F1 2013 - having practiced the Suzuka Grand Prix, it's time to put in the qualy and race...that will be this weekend. I wasn't too hot at the practice so I'm not hoping for much in the race
DCS Mig-21bis - Gotta get me some more Mig loving. Now I can startup, take off and land (ok - landing is still a bit hit and miss) I should maybe through in some ground pounding.

World in Flames - you've piqued my interest Ubercat. I have fired it up several times and then closed it down. I have watched some tutorial videos and fired it up and then closed it down. There's just so much to take in. Perhaps I should fire a game up and go through the rules and/or video tutorials whilst playing (much like I do when I'm learning a new board game). That seems to suit me best because a) I don't have the patience to sit down and read the manual(s) and b) my short term memory problem makes reading manuals before playing a bit futile. Learning by reading/playing seems to be the way for me now. I never used to be like that - which makes me pretty sad  :(

World at War:Blood and Bridges - I should try and complete Turn 1 (having only done 2 impulses at present). There's still a CHAOS chit, 2 End Turn chits, 1 Soviet chit and 2 West German chits to pull.

GDS_Starfury

has anyone tried either the Civil War or Great War mods for Napoleon Total War?
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

Silent Disapproval Robot

I'll be working and hoping Tuna gets back from his business trip so that he, UCG, and I can continue our game of Pride of Nations.  At roughly 10 turns per week, we should be done sometime in early 2018!

Pinetree

I'm hoping to finish off my West Berlin map for FCRS (almost there!) this weekend between working some shifts.

Gen. Freyberg: "Well, if you wave at them they'll usually wave back."

Mostly going to play:

- Omerta: city of Gangsters about to finish the original campaign

- Storm over the Pacific on my way to take China...for good.
