If you didn't like the original game, I'm not sure this is going to swing it for you TBH. It seems more of an evolution of the game and its interface, than any ground breaking new direction.

Correct...that is one advantage to this new model if it stays free, you can try the full game with a few scenarios before you buy....

Well, you can control all your units, or most , or some.  To my mind, though, the fun is in delegating to the AI and then having to deal with the consequences.  Where I struggle is in deciding at what level to intervene.

I would recommend getting the freebie, though.  Nothing to lose and there's a lot of fun to be had in learning the game and playing through the tutorial

So far I have downloaded the free version....fully plan to buy the modules, just wanted to see how everything went first.  I am having issues with weird black screens when you choose a specific resolution to run at, for me 1920x1080....turns all background black.....but if you choose the match to desktop option, seems to work....opened a ticket this morning haven't heard anything but guessing they must be busy.  Not a big deal since I can run under the other option.  Some of the performance issues mentioned have me concerned, but I haven't played it much yet to see it myself.

I had the exact same issue also. Run the game to match desktop (which is probably 1920x1080 anyways)  and it works ok.

I started the Road to St Vith scenario, but have completely forgotten most of the mechanics from the first game, so had to tentatively pick my way through movement planning and what not. Also, the moveable windows are a bonus, but I had trouble getting to the ones I expected to be available in the side panel. So there is a tiny bit of adjustment to begin with. Not much. Only if you have the bad memory of an old man. :) Looks good. Just wished the equipment database with images were a bit bigger. I've always though the abstract nature of the chits on map, could be livened up a bit with some nice larger real world imagery. Like CMANO does very well.

I know GAMA is underway, but do we have any sense when we'll be hearing about the 100% real, bona fide, thus-it-shall-be pricing plan for this go-forward.

It predicates my purchase decision.

One other item to add to the list for clarifications is the number of times you can download the game/modules....pretty sure it was mentioned it would be unlimited downloads...but looking at my store account and download count, I started with (10) and down to (9) after downloading, which implies there might be some limit.  Not a huge deal since I doubt I will exceed that and I have it backed up, but just could of sworn a company rep said it would be unlimited.

I'm here as well. Never got the first series. But I will download this and try the free stuff to see if it's something I'd like.

Downloading it now. I really enjoyed the earlier games and played them a lot. If you want something very like a boardgame that indulges a lot of micro-management and you have complete control over everything all of the time, this isn't that. If you're looking for something that, somewhat like Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm lets you experience what it's like to be a general - planning attacks, issuing orders, and then getting reports back about how things are progressing, this is a good choice.

I'm not yet convinced the changes to this version are worth the price, but I'm willing to be convinced. I'm also more than willing to pay a premium to support companies that are producing actual wargames of the sort I like to play, recognizing this is a niche hobby. So, no complaints on my end for having to drop $50 to essentially repurchase what I already own with some UI and AI tweaks. I hope future upgrades and modules justify the investment.

Getting prompted for a serial number for the core game, but I have none. Not in My Account/Downloads, wasn't emailed to me, nowhere. I do have serials for the Commander's Pack, but those don't seem to work. Am I missing something?
