You realize the people in these areas are the biggest victims of ISIS and of their government's inability to govern? It's easy to be glib about their death when you've never met them. If we actually did just wiped away whole cities because of the few thousand psychopaths who took them over, what does that make us? It's nice and clean and video-game-like from 20k feet, but that doesn't make killing on that scale any less heinous than what ISIS is doing on an individual scale.

I think the differences between the circumstances that LeMay faced and what is going on with ISIS are too great to warrant the same level of destruction. ISIS is an occupying power in Syria and Iraq. We didn't flatten Paris or Manila, did we?

They're occupying towns in countries that are historically hostile to Israel and I'm well and truly tired of it.

I'm not sure how many people in that region are innocent. Of course, they are not all beheading non-believers, but my understanding is that a full 30% of the global Muslim population holds extremist views. That is more than 300,000,000 people who believe in the wholesale slaughter and destruction of western civilization.  Moreover, I reckon there is a large minority, or even perhaps a small (or maybe not so small) majority who hold conservative Islamic beliefs, which means that they may not support the wanton murder of non-believers, but they still hold backward beliefs that lead to underage women being stoned to death for rejecting the advances of a much older male, or even worse, for getting raped by one, or that lead to homosexuals being thrown off of buildings in a public square.

The religion is medieval and until they get with a program of modernity, I do not think they have much to offer the world.

Now Jordan plans to execute the failed suicide bomber (aka "extremist" as USAToday calls her) who was going to be traded for the pilot.  Not really sure that'll help things any since ISIS clearly doesn't give a f*ck about human life.

Look, I have a lot of respect for all of you here. I just don't believe that you really want to incinerate a bunch of families, most of whom don't really care about Israel or the US one way or another. I get it, it's fun to talk about making glass parking lots, but I don't think you would really want it to happen.

Personally, I believe assimilation is the solution...not annihilation. However, until the majority of Muslims take an open stand against their extremist leaders and the prevalence of barbarism in their societies, I will not shed tears if they are lost due to efforts by the Western world to defend itself.
