GOG "Connect"

I reckon this is going to make a few people around here very happy.

Basically, if you link your steam account to your GOG account, any game you have purchased on Steam from a participating developer will automatically be added to your gog account, DRM free. For people who place great importance on this issue, I imagine this will be significant, although most people who really care probably don't have large steam libraries anyway...

Unfortunately, the offers are limited and will be changing over time, so be sure to jump on this asap if you want to add your games to gog.

GOG is wonderful.

I'd own even more games there if some of their new releases weren't delayed so long. I guess this Connect thing will make up for some of them.

If it ever finishes sorting through my 359 Steam games. Think I broke it. :-\

Apparently it doesn't work well if you have an adblocker enabled.

Interesting that if you own, but delete a game from your Steam library, they reserve the right to remove it from your GOG library. Kinda defeats the purpose of creating/keeping DRM-free versions on your PC...don't it? :-\ You'd think once you go through the "Connect" process GOG would know that you own the game on Steam whether or not it stays in you Steam library or not.

eh, nevermind. I may have read the FAQ wrong. Its the term "manual deletion" that throws me. I guess that would apply to Steam keys acquired less than legally.

I use both. I've been reluctant to use steam for a very long time but now i don't mind. If i have a choice i often buy games on GOG. So far i have 267 games on GOG and "only" 104 games on Steam.

I've gradually been won round on steam basically on the issue of auto update, as I'm no longer having to chase the latest patch. That is a major benefit.

I just get and error message that reads "Whoops. Something went wrong. Please try again." Not exactly helpful.

this is great, as far as my experience goes GoG always give the customer a good deal, now teamed with steam I'm getting more too. I just found Ive got saints row 3rd, I'm hopeing to see more of my steam games migrate.

I don't think GOG is teaming with Steam at all. They're just using the public Steam api, which shows the games you own to anyone, in order to prove you own those games on Steam. I'm sure Steam isn't actively assisting them.

thx for the info, I suppose I should of looked into it before I said anything, but GoG is really good for doing it.

The PR for GoG doing this is fantastic. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I have to think that when a company like GoG does something like this so seemingly selflessly, it makes me more likely to spend money on their site.

Anyway, that's how I feel. O0
