I'm a little concerned that they didn't change anything in the combat results window. Other than that, I likey.

.... Based on some comments in the video, sounds like they may distribute this the same way as command ops where base game is free, then you have to but all the modules.

This is true. Free base game with 2 Normandy and 2 Nam scenarios. Pay for full modules. All current board game modules are the eventual plan.

I concur. That's what David told me at WBC 2018 when he let me play around with an early build.
"If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labelled a radical 50 years ago, a liberal 25 years ago, and a racist today."

How did this gem slip by me.  I am totally excited for this series to come to the PC.

Is this the same game engine/UI/etc. as their "Lock and Load: Heroes of Stalingrad" game?

No. Completely new game from the ground up.

Since I am new to the topic of this game is there any sense of when it will be available. As much as I would like a release date I don't hold out hope for that level of detail but just want to know directionally is it late 2019 early 2020 just around the corner etc.

Thanks

Thanks.  I'm actually glad it is. You've renewed my interest.

I think David was hoping for this year, but I don't know the schedule for sure. It's coming along well though.

It's functionally similar compared to Heroes of Normandie, which really is a very different game system. But as noted the game engine has been rebuilt and redesigned from the ground up.

Eh? How are they similar, even functionally, at all other than being squad level games?

I fired up my heroes of stalingrad game to remind myself of the lock n load system. Can anyone shed light on what are the differences between this system and the new version?

Thanks

Hmmm... Well the "game" system is the same. Both are based on the Lock 'n Load Tactical board game system, although Heroes of Stalingrad was done before Mark Walker sold the company to David Heath.

What's all new is the software engine and UI elements. Different way to select and order units to do things, but the underlying mechanics of the game are the same.
Knowing how to play HoS will let you know how to play LnLTD, but you'll need to learn new UI commands.

Does that help?

Con

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. The mechanics and related gameplay which for me translates into the enjoyment I get out of the game remain the same. What is different is the intuitiveness is improved and a reduction in the aspects that can be frustrating when playing it.
