The Defenders as conceptualized by the MCU is not what they were in the comics.  They're lining them up to be sort of the 'street heroes' of underbelly of the city.

Elektra / Bullseye were all part of the Daredevil mythos, and were well-done in the hands of Frank Miller, but otherwise were never that interesting to me.

But damn, Luke Cage. I wonder if he could stand toe-to-toe with some of the Avengers' heavyweights. Maybe not the Hulk, but maybe the others? I don't know much about him from the comics.

However, Cloak and Dagger was eventually confirmed to be on the way. That makes sense; they should transfer that pretty well. (Some of the others, too.)

B_C, Bullseye is Daredevil's main fighting challenge (since the Frank Miller story days at least), and although he wasn't around to deal the critical Elektra plot development in Season Two he was in the Affleck!Devil film from several years ago before the MCU got going. Colin Farrell played him I think? Not a bad job, though he didn't look the part much (and lampshaded about wanting his own costume).

He's an Irish hit man with crazy-good aiming skills, rather like DC Comics' Batman villain Deadshot. He usually crosses the line back and forth between funny and terrifying (or that's the intention), and can be a good villain to watch operate and root against (or for occasionally). In recent years, he has been occasionally hanging with Deadpool (since they play humor off one another well in psychotic killer ways) as an old pal/rival who absolutely hates that Deadpool has gone soft into pretending (as Shot sees it) to be some kind of hero.

Defenders could be great, if the writers don't make it too scattered.

The Wasp is coming

We still have 2018's "Avengers: Infinity War" between now and 2019's "Avengers 4," but details are already coming out about the fourth film in the Avengers series.

Actress Evangeline Lilly, who portrayed Hope van Dyne in 2015's "Ant-Man," recently opened up to Blastr about her upcoming involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She laid out the plans for her soon-to-be-superhero character, starting with the "Ant-Man" sequel, "Ant-Man and the Wasp." With the film slated to debut after "Avengers: Infinity War," she won't appear in the third film in the Avengers series. However, we can expect to see her become the Wasp in time for "Avengers 4."

Lilly explained that "Ant-Man and the Wasp" will be used to develop her character before she teams up with the Avengers.

"I'm excited because it's essentially going to be the origin of the Wasp," Lilly told Blastr of the upcoming sequel. "Of course, we're going to see the Wasp for the first time take on the mantle and put on the suit and fly about and do her thing."

She explained that appearing in the fourth Avengers film instead of the third will be better for her character. "The Wasp won't be in the first part," Lilly said, "she'll be in the second part because they really want to preserve that reveal for 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' so that they can give it its due time."

The news will may be a little disappointing for fans hoping to see her as the Wasp sooner rather than later, but never fear, because -- as always -- there will be more than enough heroes to keep "Avengers: Infinity War" exciting.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is scheduled to hit theaters on May 4, 2018, followed by "Ant-Man and the Wasp" on July 6, 2018, and then "Avengers 4" will follow in 2019.

But how about some diversity? Does the Wasp have to be a W.A.S.P.?

Janet Van Dyne probably has to be White Actually-more-anglo-saxony-than-anglo-Saxons nominally-Protestant, if her name and original character role in the story mean anything narratively: adventurous society girl of old Dutch New York money, funds radical scientific work by a cute genius she's smitten with.

Henry Pym, despite his... I think also Dutch?... name, could be something other than W.A.S.P.-y, although if he had been cast as black you'd have to prepare for never-ending pymp-slapping memes. (Pym is notorious for being a temporarily abusive husband in one continuity, albeit under a lot of personal stress at the time. It was a way for writers to generate attention.  ::) :P )

Scott Lang could have been literally anyone (and if the last name didn't work, really they could have changed it with a bit of angulation. Tony Stark's Vietnamese good Samaritan doctor was changed to Afghani/Pakisomething while coyly keeping part of the the vaguely exotic sounding Vietnamese name; and the original Vietnamese doctor was changed from being Samaritan for that matter!  And that worked out okay.)

Hope Van Dyne could have easily been mixed-anyone: WASPy Janet plus whichever creative radical from the 60s or 70s she broke status convention to support and marry.

The way I took Ant-Man, Hope was Hank & Janet's daughter.

I know; my point was that Hank Pym could have some non-'white' guy in the 1980s who was supported by Janet (inheriting the 60s/70s right movement, and/or as a fashion statement to annoy her parents ;) ), and then Hope would have been of mixed heritage being Hank and Janet's daughter. That wouldn't break anything in Hank's character, wouldn't break anything in Janet's character (and would actually fit parts of it with a more modern angle), and so would help diversify while honoring why the characters have had legacy staying power. Similarly, Scott Lang could have been, well, any of the other guys in his little posse. ;) His story would have played just the same.
